I know you won’t see this Edd but I just had to write this so people realise that quality educational content reaches people and focuses the mind. My Dad was an amateur mechanic all his life especially in the 70’s when cars were bad and money was tight. He and I used to watch Wheeler Dealers all the time when you were on it Edd. He used to say to me “that big man’s a genius!” He’s 89 now and has dementia but if I say to him remember Dad when we used to watch Wheeler Dealers On the TV? I swear to God he still remembers and says that big man’s a genius with a wry smile on his face that say’s I’ve been there and suffered on the footpath with my tool bag!
@@eddchina I just played the video for him and then helped him read this Edd. His smile was priceless! Thankyou so much for taking time from your busy schedule to make an old mans day! 🙏
back in the day i used to hope that Discovery would see the light and do Edd only episodes, his was the best part of the programe and I'm so glad he's started doing this content. Thanks Edd!
Television companies dont see the light, they only see money. Plenty of people like you and I would rather watch stuff like this, with more practical content in it.
@@adrianl7147 , very many thanks for explaining that. There seem to be very many American TV programs and celebrities outside the US that nobody has ever heard of. I'm very grateful.
I've just watched 5+ minutes of a very tall gentleman wiggling a bizarre rotary switch out of a spaghetti of wiring loom, in all of its excruciating detail... and I loved every second of it.
For every Edd doing this kind of works gently and calm there are thousand and thousands of people who do the same with a lot of swearing. Like me. It's simple but not easy could be my new motto in the railway shop where I work🤣
It was almost 25 minutes... and it wasn't very exciting for anyone who've worked on an old car before. This would've been less than 5 minutes in a Wheeler Dealers episode, and rightfully so.
The production quality of this series is outstanding. It’s also one of the only series I’m more than happy to it through full ads for - this stuff ain’t free. Great work Edd and team.
I wonder which bright spark had the wonderful idea of the extremely complicated and difficult to understand mechanics of that headlight switch mechanism. Installing it was next🤔
I like how Edd is giving a realistic process for trouble shooting and completing repairs. One thing that always seemed a bit unrealistic on Wheeler Dealers was the speed at which they completed repairs, where a massive list of jobs get done in only 23 man hours.
I love how they show full length of a basic switch replacement process. I always hated how TV shows shortcuts these things like make it look so simple. Than you Edd for showing reality.
100% agree, I find the honesty makes you appreciate the work while inspiring you to tackle your own projects without disillusionment about the actual work you are taking on up front.
So nice to have Edd back on screen again. Have always loved his style of presenting. It's been far too long, so it really is nice knowing we are now getting these great shows.
Edd so great to see you back! The Alvis is a really pretty car and you didn't even have to repair the clock as you had the dash coming apart! Excellent photography and lighting too. Thanks from Canada
Mixing old school engineering and new technology in one episode is a great idea ! Love the new series you have put together Edd! Cheers from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺🦘🐨🇦🇺👍
I absolutely love how Ed stays current, can easily switch between traditional mechanical engineering and modern electrical with latest technologies. He certainly appears to be able to describe these priceless absolutely perfectly with great knowledge
The number of projects I just gave up and sat in my car upside down hanging under my dash, I so sympathize with Edd, especially since I'm really tall too.
It's great to see you back Edd, I just wish I could stay as calm and chilled as you when working on vehicles! No cursing, no drama, just cool, collected enthusiasm! Don't ever stop being you!
The switch in that Alvis with the spring-loaded plunger holding the knob on is just amazing. That's the type of engineering you don't get in modern cars - easy to rebuild, hard wearing and durable, high quality and simple. Wonderful.
Edd I can not say how much I miss you on Wheeler Dealer. I refuse to watch new episodes with out you in them. In my opinion you are the person who made that show so successful. Mike was just the whinny baby with the deep pockets. I really am looking forward to watching you on You Tube create the magic.
I love the contrast in this video, some people might say old cars were great because you could repair them yourself, but then he's 3d scanning a gear box with a handheld device straight onto laptop.
I am glad to see your back at working on vehicles. I really appreciate the way you explain everything so even the inexperienced folks understand. I really enjoy shows where the vehicles are the main objective and not the "drama". Thank Edd for everything you do
My brother in law (well experienced carpenter) was on an american home remodeling show. They asked him to build it and he did.. Then they made his build the last minute drama of "who built it that way????" Let's all bail out on that. Thanks Edd. No more "and we have only 36 hours to get it done" hype. Wait, why am I paying for cable tv? .
Considering that you don't have a complete crew, the resulting audio and video quality is really good. I'm enjoying your videos. Also, really glad that you have the time needed to show what you are doing in detail. Really happy how the adventure is turned out.
Thank you for the wonderful distraction to end the week. Being from across the pond, we never saw an Alvis... thanks for the introduction, and I can't wait to see how these projects play out
I gave up being a mechanic , when doing wiring jobs i think the shop guys liked to gun engines and send exhaust into my car across the shop when I was upsidedown.
Ed - thank you for getting back to a world of normal blokes just taking stuff apart and fixing things. Something that inspired many of us to have a go at getting our hands dirty and realising it is possible. Although we all probably do it with a lot more swearing and telling the broken bits what we think of them than you 😂
Fascinating learning from Edd. I’m actually very unlikely to work on a car again myself as age and lack of flexibility have caught up with me but just watching is enough !
Edd, it's damn great to see you back in front of the camera. Your way of explaining problems and fixes is terrific. Love the Alvis. I'd love to find one.
