Hitman's New Freelancer Mode Is Impossible

- So I tried out the new Freelancer mode in Hitman 3, and it's really challenging. Freelancer is a new rogue-like mode added in the World of Assassination update. It's pretty hard, but I'd never turned down a challenge yet, so I gave it a shot. How will I affair? That and more in this video.

I've got to admit I'm having issues with this mode for a number of reasons:
I) loosing all your tools, half your money and all the gear you have on you is way to severe a loss penalty, any one of those 3 would work as an incentive, or something like loosing X amount of money then if you can't cover it you loose items on you, things at base should always be safe (I would personally suggest the option to pay for insurance against weapon loss on a mission) this overly harsh penalty system tends players to using the best equipment as wall hangers as any loss is catastrophically expensive
II) The alert missions not only have AI numbers and cameras increased but also the detection range and aggression of guards, this has worsened the see through walls issue and the AI across half the map can swarm to your exact location as if they are psychic even if their are no witnesses (had a hilarious instance of this on Marrakesh where I took a shot from a roof only accessible by Drain pipe then watched as half the guards on the map rushed to my position and got stuck in search mode as even though none of them could detect me to engage they could all see me through the wall and so couldn't come out of search
III) The rewards really don't match the effort, It's fine adding '00' to everything to feel better, but actually having enough to buy a decent gun after or 3 missions rather than plowing through multipule campaigns, it's too much work to get back on your feet after a loss especially early on and that lack of reward vs effort forces a certian style 9f game play I'm sure wasn't the design intention.
In short, choose 1 punishment for a loss, not 3, on alert maps have the AI either more numerous or more aggressive with psychic powers not both and increase the rewards to match the effort involved rather than making a loss insanely crippling (and FFS when starting a run, give thr player a silenced pistol, he's a hitman, he's not doing the Federal paperwork or following waiting periods for these guns, it would really help the early difficulty curve to be steep rather than running face first at a cliff
(All these elements can be left for hard-core mode for the masochists who enjoy crippling frustration)
Just rob the New York bank every time you get decent money
Have yet to complete a campaign. I always lose the first mission on the third syndicate. But then again I'm sure I will get better, I hope.
I'm getting real close to the end of one, best advice I can give is play outside of your comfort zone, and if you think your gonna die you can close application and the mission will reset
I got to the end of the third sydicate, blew myself up with a proximity explosive.
Freelancer is designed for experienced Hitman players. Personally I don't find freelancer that difficult, but I have been playing the series since 2016.
For the showdowns, you can get to a safe spot, panic each suspect witn a sniper shot and when Diana says your target is escaping, you know which one it is.
I'm not so sure how people are finding it so hard, I've completed 3 campaigns so far chilling while doing it lol.
you will, I failed the first set of missions like five times, and even leveled to 8 mastery.
Now I can finish the second syndicate missions with ease.

You do get to keep any weapons you didn't have on you when you failed.

I finally beat a campaign, but I will say I had a silenced pistol and was doing the assassination campaign so it was easier than normal. I even got the silenced pistol by killing a lookout or assassin I think so there’s a tip.

Same here. Not being able to save progress reminds me how much time I'm wasting on this game. I've played everyday since the update and havent completed an entire campaign. Not fun anymore- taking a break from this one- guess it's time to find a different adventure.
I mean… technically you can save. Just in between going on missions for the various campaigns. And the more consecutive campaigns you do the harder it is. Its a… I would say its fun but its really not. Honestly it just means you spend longer and longer only to throw an explosive baseball and get hit by a chandelier…

Eventually I did realise something when I play this, failed lots of times.
I know most of the part has challenge based but for the safe option is this, although not very rewarding and reliable but execution is OK.
looking the traits for look doesn't mean one of them are target, which cost me mercs and time. So I suggest follow target despite their traits and make sure they have meeting. This works all the time. And find the target meet more than one person cause most of the time they are the target

Exactly u feel the pure tension like you're really doing a hit job its very unique u can't get that in any game
In a showdown, you can use your camera to identify the target quickly

I can tell you that much: The Hitman games are about trail and error. The freelancer is for those that find a 5 star run of every map too easy, hell even without changing disguises. And even those, I am one of them, fail the first few campaign attempts.
Consider it "the endgame" mixed with sandbox.

Dawg as soon as I get to the last campaign mission the target takes off and I get a countdown
A silenced pistol makes all the difference. Before that, I'd camp in a room and go on a shootout, expect showdown missions since the targets can escape. That's also where you can find an assassin and take his silenced pistol.
EDIT: I just realized you're playing on console so aiming may be harder for you

I've had multiple times in Hard Mode in which I choose "Open a Safe" option, and there is no safe in the level.

Here, Some tips for anyone having trouble with the new gamemode.
•ALERTED MAPS FIRST. Be careful on alerted maps, if you fail you lose your campaign progress. However, do not leave them for showdowns. They are insanely difficult to do if the entire map is on alert.
•Hit any supply caches you find. They're the little boxes scattered around the map and can contain Merces or Items. If you see ANY item with a rarity or carry capacity take that item above all others as you can take that back to the safehouse.
•Remote explosives are a godsend, especially on alerted maps. The Devil Rubber Duckie and ICA Phone in particular are good cause you can get your targets them pick it up.
•Take Prestige objectives, but don't priotize them or any other complications (Unless its Armstrafficking cause its usually something like kill guards with certain weapons which is easy). Remember, your goal is to kill the targets, not complete all objectives you can always get items from the supply caches.
•Under no circumstances should you ever get into a gunfight. The guards in this mode are insanely strong, and will melt you. If you get into one, tuck into a bathroom or something and shoot anyone who tries to walk in but remember you lose 50 Merces per Civilian kill except in the case of optional objective kills.
•It's impossible to be perfect in this game mode, but as long as you're quick and careful you'll get through it. Play it safe, not fast. If you get a target out in the open, shoot and run or use an explosive.
•If you're looking for a silenced gun undercover assassins drop a really good hvk2 covert pistol. Look for out of place civis following the targets around, and pay attention to the right side of the minimap during showdowns so you know when a Lookout is nearby. They can alert the ENTIRE map and cause the suspects to run thus failing the mission and ending your campaign.
•Be sure to check out the unlocked areas before each mission, they can contain stuff such as weapons, poisons, and items to pacify. The Banana is a good pickup for any mission with couriers and can be found in the kitchen.
•Although they aren't required try your best to get the collectors set from vendors. That set can never be lost even if you die with them on you.
NPCs pick up any rubber duck. Doesn't have to be "Devil Rubber Duck". Or Explosive or Flash Phone. And if your target is a guard, you can make them to pick up any suspicious item. (Explosives, Tasers, EMP Charge etc.) And kill that guard when he has a Taser in his pocket.
Have yet to complete a single campaign. Every target is surrounded by people and in the worst location. No items spawn anywhere, and the ai pathing is busted again.

If you're on PC you can alt f4 and that will let you redo the mission and if you are on console you can close the app as long as you don't die you can retry as many times as you need to even in hardcore

I don't know, I find Freelancer easier than the story missions. Even the story missions are easy as fuck.
It does save, quick tip. ( quit game before u die or fail and u can restart it that mission without restarting the campaign) This game mode is stupid difficult. developers got butthurt about speed runners destroying their game so they made this horse doodoo
Finally decided to make videos after two years huh?
I lost about 35k merce before I realized the penalty for killing any unarmed innocent. The losing of all the gear in your safe house when you fail a campaign. This mode is absolutely unforgiving and will make most casual or first time players rage quit. It’s not worth taking any of your uncommon weapons with you. If you can get your hands on an emetic dart gun, use that and protect it at all costs. Don’t get greedy with the little chump change they hide in safes and on curriers. Take the easy loot boxes, safes, and curriers but ignore any of the harder to reach ones. The gear on you is more important then the money. Oh and one more piece of advice. It may pay it out over time. But I’ve lost more money by “checking the stock market” from the laptop in the vault once you unlock that. I would stay away from that unless you really like to gamble.

Play through the maps and just have a look around and unlock some doors and find weapons and then play freelancer

I just wish that every time you complete a syndicate, it would save so that you don’t lose all of tour hard work…
It saves after every mission. If you fail an Alerted Territory or a Showdown, you have to start a campaign from beginning.
I can see how ppl who don’t know the maps or mechanics well would think freelance is hard but it really isn’t that difficult. But it was fun watching you struggle, I’ll be subscribing for more ❤

Be more patient and use accidental kills. If you're new to HITMAN WoA, I suggest you play through the Story. This mode is not for noobs.
