    A few tips BigMooney!
    - If a suspect has a tell other than the two Diana mentions, they're not the target. Also, use the camera to study the suspects (sometimes tattoos and earrings are almost unnoticeable)
    - Sieker and Kalmer count as firearms (edit: not exactly; more in comments)
    - "Headshot kills only" just means IF you use guns, you have to headshot them. You can kill people by other means
    - Silent takedown condition means using a nonlethal melee to KO them
    - "No combat" is imo broken, or is at least really unclear: it usually fails for me whenever any guard aggros. This means if you shoot anyone without killing them with the first shot, this fails (even if they never saw you or drew their weapon)
Thanks for the video, good job man 👍

All the targets 90 percent of the time are in the general population of the event there, and all you need to do is go to the start of the map by the first exit, then just snipe away. • @campingcosmo2237
    @campingcosmo2237 Год назад +82

I'm definitely in the camp that just adores Freelancer, especially since it rewards using knowledge of the more obscure mechanics of the game, like being able to explode leaking propane tanks with the Big One flare, or a magnesium pouch. It's also very forgiving of mistakes if you know how to get out of dodge ASAP, which hey, doing Kill Everyone Challenges on the main game does prepare you for. There's also some patches planned for the future, which hopefully will fix the few bugs people have run into, including the really bad one where a Syndicate Showdown on Colorado just fucks your game entirely and refuses to even load in.
    A few tips:
    - As far as I remember, while basic item placements have been changed from the main game, they will be the same across all modes of Freelancer, whether the map is normal, an Alerted Territory, or a Hardcore Mode Alerted Territory. The only interactable items that will change between missions is the stash crates (which are randomly drawn from a set list of spawn points for them) and safes (depends on whether the mission spawns a safe or not).
    - It's still worth memorising where certain resources are in which maps. For example, you can find propane tanks at the food stalls in the race area in Miami, in a building behind Caruso's mansion where 2 gardeners are talking, and there is only one propane tank to be found in all of Chongqing, on some scaffolding on Hush's building. But if you need an accident collateral, sometimes it's more reliable to just drag them to an overflowing sink and electrocute them with a car battery, or drop a chandelier on them. Fun fact: Miami has no car batteries to be found on the map, except what stash crates might give you.
    - To identify leaders, the icon above their heads will change when they're performing a tell, and you can match that to the icons in your intel list. Every suspect only has 2 tells and 1 meeting agenda, so the moment you see a suspect performing a tell other than what your intel says, you know it's not the target. I once did a final showdown where my final 2 suspects shared 6 identifiers, and it came down to the type of meeting they had.
    - Each suspect on the showdown is sorted into networks based on their respective agendas: Secret, Business, or Handover. They'll only ever have one type of meeting, so a Secret suspect won't ever meet up with a Business or Handover suspect. If you spook a suspect into fleeing, I believe only their particular network will flee with them, but seeing a fleeing NPC might spook suspects of other networks into running too, so it could have a domino effect.
    - A good way to rule out suspects is to just pacify one suspect (either in a secluded area or sedative poison/slipping on a banana or grape, and grab their phone, which will tell you which agenda they have. If it doesn't match the leader's agenda, you can still plant the phone in an empty room. see which suspects it lures, and rule them out 1 by 1. If it matches, then just plant it and wait for your target to show up.
    - On the later syndicates of your campaign, I'd recommend knocking Alerted Territories out first, then saving non-alerted missions for later, or at the very least decide which non-alerted territory you want to have the syndicate showdown in. Having completed a Hardcore Mode campaign, an alerted showdown just gets frustrating.
    - Speaking of Hardcore Mode, if you ever want to crack into that, I'd seriously recommend waiting until at least level 38 of Freelancer Mastery, which gives you the second upgrade for your infirmary, and allows you to turn whatever poison you have into syringes that you can put in your tools. At a minimum, this means you're guaranteed to be able to restock your sedative syringe every time you come back to the safehouse, and either your emetic or lethal syringe depending on what you choose.

In the showdown you can knock out a fake suspect that wanders off on their own and pick up their phone to arrange a meeting. Wherever you activate it, 47 just sets it down right there and it summons every suspect with the same type of meeting. So if you go to the farthest most isolated corner of the map and activated it, you could lure your target over there and at most you'd only have one assassin and one fake suspect to knock out as potential witnesses.

Late watching but the remote emp charge might be my favourite item, for those that don't know there's just so many things you can do with them.
You can disable cameras, doors, security systems, some latops and mission computers.
    It works through walls.
If you place them targets will pick them up and carry them.
You can then detonate to trigger shock in water, or fire kills.
After use it can still be used as a coin.
I pretty much always take this underrated item.

    Richard Voltaire
Richard Voltaire is one of the guests in the balcony bar of the Burj Al-Ghazali. He is a world-renowned art critic and is there to inspect Lucy Philips' cubical art installation in the nearby corridors. Lucy is terrified of him because of his famously scathing reviews, so she is hiding from him with Cornelia Stuyvesant in the private bar area, annoying Cornelia to no end. Omar Al-Ghazali also feels apprehensive about Voltaire and his harsh reviews, and in conversations with him, Al-Ghazali tauntingly brings up Voltaire's past as a punk rock magazine writer who worked under a different name.

    Ok, a few more pointers-
    1. In Santa Fortuna, the target was killed by the BOMB, not by the the vehicle. This can happen if they get too close to the explosive device.
    2. Assassins kill in two shots and have perfect accuracy. They kill in one shot on Hardcore Mode. If you’re compromised and an assassin is within line of sight, prioritize shooting them if you can’t take cover.
    3. Be careful what guns you buy, like that Woodsman Sniper- you can get that for free in Mendoza.
    4. Rob the vault in New York every single chance you get, you can get up to 10k extra money just by collecting the 3 coins and the computer thingy.
    5. If you get caught again like you did in Bangkok, just RUN. Any illegal actions seen by suspects or lookouts will send them into evacuation. Run and hide somewhere and wait for things to cool down.
    6. Don’t forget that you can use the Banana on Assassins to strip them of their weapon.
    7. Silent Takedowns are meant to be Silent Pacifications. They used stupid wording and I STILL make the mistake, even knowing better.
    8. Sleeping Guard in Dubai has a silenced SMG on him. There’s a silenced pistol buried in Isle of Sgail’s sewer, you need a shovel. Cassidy’s men have silenced SMG’s in Whittleton Creek. There is no free silenced sniper, you either have to earn one as a reward or buy one.

Great vid on a great game mode. Long videos work really well for Freelancer with how varied it is.
One thing I would say about the collateral damage accidents that might help is that they don't need to be conscious to do it. If people aren't in a good position next to explodable things I sometimes just bonk them on the head, drag them to where I need them and pile them up. Works for the firearms variant as well. Friction burns will be the last of the victim's worries in a moment, after all.

Tip 1: Alerted territories are essentially switching from professional to master mode on any map so if you don't know the master mode of an alerted territory then be prepared.
Tip 2: if you ever need to restart a mission but don't want to fail, close your game completely and reopen it. You should have the mission available to start again.
Tip 3: A way to get all weapons faster and easier: buy the cheapest ones first so that way you can unlock the expensive and harder-to-get items in crates. (you can see them in suppliers but it won't be the cheapest).

A bunch of tips for Freelancer (I haven't watched the video yet, but if you find something interesting, feel free to use it, alternatively, every reader is of course free to use them at their leisure):
1: The banana is indeed a good object to take, especially if you have the objective of "Make your Target slip" OR if there's Couriers on the map. That way you can make Couriers slip, which makes them drop their Mercers on the floor for you to pick up. (Always intercept Couriers, it'll be worth it)
2: If you don't have a good silenced pistol yet (the Hackl has atrocious aim, so I'm not counting that), it might be worth it to locate an Assassin in a showdown mission (they have the thicker and brighter "guard" outline in instinct and they follow the suspects around) and either kill them or make them slip on a banana. Don't just incapacitate them and leave them lying around, they'll be found and then the target will run. Anyway, they'll drop a very good pistol (which I used up until I collected the ICA19)
3: If you're about to lose a mission or die, feel free to just go Alt+F4 or interrupt the internet connection. That'll reset your mission, so you don't fail your campaigns and lose your items/Mercers all the time.
4: On Mercers: Don't play the stock market (just like in real life), and when you're on New York, check for the bank vault in the basement. It'll contain a varying but hefty amount of Mercers (up to 10.000) when you remove the data core and from the 3 coins that sit around in the right hand cell. When you're in Mendoza, check Yates' safe in the wine tasting room (not the one in the basement wih the rare wine, but the one in which you can do that story mission with 47 as the sommelier). The keypad code is "1945" and it contains Mercers aswell, ontop of those you can find in mission-bound safes.
Thanks for that tip go to MrFreeze2244, actually, I didn't know about that one either and I haven't found other natural Mercer locations yet, feel free to add to that, lads. (Always open safes, it'll be worth it too)
5: If you're committed to Alt+F4-ing your missions anyway, and a Showdown mission really pisses you off (because it's on Colorado or Bangkok in Alerted mode or something), you can just run up to a suspect and shoot them in the head, then you'll know if you have the target (alternatively, you can spook them with silent gunshots near their feet or something. When a suspect flees, Diana will say nothing, if your target flees, Diana will notify you)
6: Don't take your high-end gear because it "looks cool". Yeah, I know, you're happy because you unlocked the Silverballer. But if you lose it again (sometimes you just die too quickly to end the mission) and then you get a Prestige Objective of "Silenced Pistol Kill - Epic/Legendary", and you don't have an epic or legendary silenced pistol, you just waste that. Don't gamble your assets, play with cheap, replacable items that you can get your hands on easily (for example don't bring an explosive if you know where to find an explosive on the map).
7: Don't sweat yourself so much about Silent Assassin. It's more important to keep your head out of the firing line and your disguise clean, than to hide a body if that means an excessive risk.
8: Don't play Hardcore mode. Seriously, just don't.
9: If you're out for Challenge hunting, try to do the "Sometimes Maybe Good. Sometimes Maybe Shit", "Let the Chips Fall Where They May" and "Cold Feet" Challenges early on. Yes, you'll lose a lot of Mercers, but that's better than doing these Challenges when you have banked 500k Mercers.
On top of that, do the "Bad Taste" and "Cheesing It" Challenges early on aswell, and preferably on a Level 1 showdown. Only 4 suspects to kill means only 3000 Mercers lost. (Edit: Of course you could also combine that with the "Let the Chips Fall Where They May" Challenge, but that's one I noticed too late)
Lastly, do the "A Worthy Sacrifice" Challenge, when you have just a little over 100k Mercers to minimize your loss.
10: Do missions on "Alerted Territory" first, when facing a new Syndicate. Don't try to postpone the inevitable, and especially don't wait for a Showdown mission on Alerted Territory. You'll hate it, 9 suspects running around with an Assassin each and Lookouts all over the place, all of them enforcers, and then you're on Bangkok. You'll rip your hair out. (Edit: Only exception is the "Living On The Edge" Challenge, but that's only 5 Showdowns in Alerted Mode, thankfully)
11: Mendoza is one of the if not the best mission for Showdowns. So if you see it, keep it for last.
12: On Showdowns: The suspect that doesn't match the description is *never* the target, Mooney. Don't waste your time on a brunette chick when the description says "black hair". Also, if a suspect performs a Tell that's not among the ones you're looking for, it's also *never* the target (coughing is the "Allergy" Tell, smoking is the "Smoker" tell). That includes two suspects meeting up and having the wrong symbol over their head (question mark or envelope, if you're looking for the handshake and vice versa). You can also look at these descriptions and Tells when you take out your camera and film the suspects. They'll be shown on the camera HUD in Showdown missions. Don't rush yourself, take your time ;)
13: "Collateral Kill - Accident" or "Collateral Kill - Explosion" are best achieved by taking a propane flask and a Breaching Charge, then go up to the target when they stand around with another NPC (NOT a guard!), then go into the inventory and drop the Breaching Charge (this will drop the propane flask aswell). Run a few steps and detonate the Charge, resulting an accident explosion that kills both.
Alright, that should be enough for now. Though, if I find more tips, I might just update this comment. Have fun freelancing! :D

Once I was on Bangkok and I had to get a collateral kill - accident. One of my targets was the drummer guy (Abel de Silva). I managed to get a cheeky emetic dart on him in the hall and he decided to vomit in 47's suite. I took the opportunity and called room service to get subjects for the collateral. When maids came I knocked both of them out and dragged all three people into a pile in the middle of the suite. Once they were all in a close pile I pulled out the jerry can of gasoline I brought with me and began pouring it over them. It was at this moment I realized this was arguably the most fucked up thing I had ever chosen to do without being specifically asked to do by a game.
I only had an unsilenced pistol so I had to book it as soon as I lit them up. Easiest $2,500 I ever made.

Regarding your accident kill, you got it as you saw, but using an explosive will lose your sile t assassin unless it's on of the breaching charges which are pretty silent.
Also, if the explosive was the cause of the initial explosion that killed the target then it won't count. If the explosion of the CAR that it was next to was the cause of the kill then that WOULD count. It has always been very tricky to do, but once you figure out the ins and out of it then it's cool.

I still don't really know why it failed Silent Assassin now that I've checked and know I didn't kill anyone but him.

1b. Your best bet is to stick with the 4 physical characteristics given and their quirks (allergies, foodie, thirsty, nervous, etc)
      2. A "look-out" is a new kind of enforcer that can be a guard or civilian, usually they enforce vs. your suits', some can be fooled by other disguises -- while other's will see through every disguise.

Assassins aren't enforcers, but they carry guns and will kill you in two shots from full health if combat begins. Also they follow suspects around and aren't made from existing NPCs, so they do stand out quite a bit.
Lookouts are enforcers, don't carry a gun if they're not a type of NPC who normally would (guards), and if they spot you they will send out a warning to all suspects to escape. NPCs that are already supposed to the in the level anyway are often (maybe always ? not sure) made lookouts instead of having a specially added in NPC like with assassins.

"Takedown" means pacification, like a bat or something. Also, lookouts are out of place NPC's that enforce every disguise except your suit, but they don't move around as much. If they spot you (not even if doing something illegal, only if their meter fills up) all the targets start fleeing and you're pretty much screwed. Also also, all the items that aren't on the gun wall (poisons, gas canisters, etc.) are lost if you fail the campaign, regardless of whether or not you brought them along, so best to use them. And finally, dart guns are indeed guns
EDIT: it seems you've encountered a lookout

Dartguns counts as darts and poison (both) I.e you can get both "shoot target with a dart" and "poison target" in one go. They does not count as a firearm.
Melee is only melee items that kill, like knives, axes, etc. (You can find a LOT of high quality ones in New York's safe deposit boxes)
Concussion explosion can be achieved with either grenades\mines OR, interestingly, the fire extinguishers, which are present on pretty much every map.
