Your joint looks great! Pinned on my Google Maps for my next vacation. PS: I recently discovered your channel and am binge watching most if not all your episodes. I am your age, well one year older and have been coming to Thailand also since the nineties. So many things in your videos I can reflect on and recognise. Great stuff!!
As somebody who had a Breville/Sage Dual Boiler since 2016, I must say it's a wonderful appliance... until it breaks down... Which mine did, periodically. That's when you'll understand why its classed as an appliance and not a machine. You need to bear in mind that it’s still a consumer orientated espresso appliance, not really designed for commercial use. So you may be shortening its lifespan depending on how often its used on a daily basis. For just a fraction more may I suggest you look into the Rancilio Silvia Pro X. Another Dual Boiler with PID control, but made with commercial grade parts and fittings.... You'll understand when you have to replace a solenoid or your water pump. Now that I have a Rancilio Silvia Pro X, I'll never look back.... A great and informative video.
Thanks. I was very worried about its reliability and what would happen if it broke down. It was assured by the shop I bought it from that they had teams of engineers all over Thailand. Let’s see. My idea is to buy another one and keep it in my condo as a spare just in case. Still cheaper than getting a la Mazocca or whatever they’re called.
I retired from a company that sold coffee and tea to hotels and restaurants. Generally, there are 2 types of coffee: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica is high grown and is milder. Robusta comes from lowland plantations and is generally more acidic. A true ITALIAN coffee is a mixture of both giving it a nice acidity. In contrast, the coffee at Starbucks is entirely Arabica so it is quite mild even though it is dark roasted. My preference? I like the true Italian espresso. I purchase the LaVazza because it is the cheapest, not necessarily the best (but it is very good) as well as an Indonesian Arabica coffee which has a really nice strong taste. Another favorite is Ethiopian Arabica coffee which many believe to be the world's finest coffee. At home, I also have a Breville espresso maker but, a few months ago, I discovered the Aeropress which is essentially all I use now. It makes a fabulous coffee.
Thanks for taking the time to write that. I use Arabica beans that are grown in Chiang Mai Thailand. I didn’t show them as it’s a secret 🤫. I will look at the Aeropress
Coming to Pattaya for a month during wet season to try and escape the forest fire in BC Canada. Will be my first time in SEA. Looking forward to visiting your establishment when it get into town.
I'm in no way a coffee snob but I know what I like :-) one of my favourite things to do when in town during the daytime, is finding and trying the coffee more hidden coffee shops around the district. Watching Franco adding sugar to his latte, I'm surprised he can taste the coffee it must be like syrup, bleegh
Tara and I found a great coffee shop at the end of soi bukaow behind the market called Benjamit coffee. They roast their own beans and has quite a fresh selection from all over. Brought home a few bags and unfortunately they are gone. Looking forward to our next trip that will definitely include Le Pub and sample a cup or 2. Best wishes
Not a coffee drinker at all (staunch tea man) but for some reason I found this absolutely fascinating. Maybe it's time to branch out lol. Been a long time watcher but have yet to make my first trip to Thailand, something I am planning to do in the next few months. Looking forward to seeing Phil and all the crew when I finally get there. A latte and a Guinness or two in Le Pub is now definitely on the itinerary...slainte!
Thank for the coffee tour! I'm not a coffee snob at all. Old army style for me please (hot, strong, and plenty of it). That's it. No sugar, no milk, just coffee please! Am looking forward to seeing you all next week.
Back in September Phil. Will definitely be in for a coffee. I'd asked you the first time i met you there in January if you sold coffee and indeed you did, as not every night on holiday i want to drink beer 🍻 . Looking forward to sampling it. 👍
My first visit was in 2012. And one of the most rapid changes i've seen Pattaya, or actually Thailand in general over those 10 years. Is how exponentially the coffee culture has exploded. On my first visits it was near impossible to get a quality cup. They would just boil some water and throw one of those Nescafe instant coffeepackets in. Now you can't throw a stone without hitting a nice little coffeeshop with quality coffee.
The Breville espresso machine is branded as Sage in Europe, and as I only make espresso at home, have the Sage Duo Temp, which does not have a dual boiler. As you are producing on a commercial basis. obviously need the Dual Boiler. Have gone from only ever drinking instant, to a bit of a coffee geek in the last couple of years, do really interested in you findings, and impressed with the time and effort you have made to ptt try douche a decent cup of coffee. On small ( yes a bit nerdy) tip….. when you first start pouring the milk into the cup…. Do it with cup tilted, pour from a greater height, and go around the cup 3 or 4 times. This forces the milk to sink into the coffee, and produce a well blended drink. 😍
@@LePubPattaya … You will be a barista champion in no time Phil. When I eventually get to your Beer, women, and Coffee emporium, will have one of your coffee creations, and bring you some specialty Ethiopian coffee beans…. Probably too expensive to buy on a commercial level in Thailand, but if ground and created correctly, one of the best you will ever taste 👌
I refuse to pay stupid prices for "gourmet" coffee. I won't go to Starbucks or ANY over priced coffee house, especially where "Barista's" want a tip. When on our cruise in Oct-Nov I had some speciality coffees because it was a part of pkg.
I don’t think k the coffee at Starbucks is all that bad, as long as people know that it’s dispensed from a machine. As for prices, you are drinking coffee in a bar that has different overheads than a regular coffee shop. I don’t think the cost is too high.

Thank you very much, Pim I hope you enjoyed watching the videos as much as I did making them, well most of them anyway. Hope to see you soon.
I enjoy a quality coffee when I drink one. Baileys and coffee is delicious.
Great to see you do this.
I think you will be impressed with the coffee, with or without the Baileys

We just got a new coffee machine for the trailer, and we are figuring it all out.
What did you get?

Excellent video, I will try a coffee next time I’m in Le Pub in a few months time.

Thanks Bob. We do nice tea as well, but I’m of the opinion the coffee seems to have taken over the world.
Hope to catch you in the future.
I hope to call in for a coffee Phillip 👍

1:36 you’re lucky the Swiss guy didn’t kick off. 😂
He kinda did. But his criticism was warranted.

Vietnamese coffee from a French Press is a great high.
Tried to make it but couldn’t get it right.
nice video ☕ like the outro music ,
Thanks 👍It’s on Epidemic Sounds.
There's not only coffee snobbery but there's a bit of English Breakfasts and Fish & Chips snobbery too. ;)
Only from the English😀
didn't know having a grind was so complicated
It is for me 😂😂😂
Hey Phil can you get Organic beans for the true snobs me included, I know I’m asking too much but what about organic non homogenised milk. 😊
I don’t think there would be much of an ask for those. Speciality costs money. But feel free to bring in your own beans.
I used to drink mellow birds back in the UK. 😝
Mellow Birds, will make you smile.
A egg coffee would be appropriate?
Aha!!
Not the usual bean I'm looking to grind in Pattaya but interesting video.
You can do it!
What grind setting phill .
It’s in the middle of the espresso spectrum. I have tried various settings to get the pressure and taste right.
Hello Phil
Hi Keith
Your background coffee brewing music sounds like 1970’s porn music.
I don't know what that sounds like 555
Weed smokers have the same conversations about strain flavors smoothness and aroma. Just saying
I can understand that.
Phil, can I get a flat white
On the way.

I totally get that if it is in a bar. Of course mine would have Jameson in it.
Philip, get the back of your head shaved, it looks like you travel much faster than your hair! 😂
Thanks for the feedback 😀😀😀
