- While I was in London I visited a video game store that came with high recommendations from Gemma (TheGebs24) and my friend Jack from Coatsink. They have a wide variety of games for all systems. Here's what I saw and what I picked up at the end of the video.

I was in the UK for OLL '23 video game convention. Here's what that's like! ruclips.net/video/Kh2xJudBrWU/видео.html
So sorry to have missed you over here in the UK, I hope you had a blast, I almost lept out of my seat when you showed Starwing, we just did a podcast on that one and talked about the name difference...ruclips.net/video/ZKq7vzznyhg/видео.html
hi can you recommend other London shops like this?
I got my powerblade NTSC for 5$ at a garage sale 5 years ago!!!!!!!
HEY MATE , thanks for dropping by we really loved having you !! please come back anytime !!!
Hi there thanks for popping in to the store and glad you had a nice experience, also loving your video and hope we see agian soon 😊

Crazy Thumbs
I'm in the USA. I'd love to just go to one of those overseas shops and have a coffee and talk to random folks about games. Fun times!
Sounds fun 😊
I would love to spend a day with Riggs. To experience a day in the life. Thank you for the content dude.
Maybe at first but then I just wanna end up in a pub lol
@@JohnRiggs lol 😆 Hey, I don't mind that. Thanks for the hilarious response. Have a fantastic day.
New Zealand Story is one of my all time fav games, I had a paper round as a kid and we'd turn up early as the place across the road had arcade machines and I played this game for months before our work started. Brilliant!
The white carts with red accent are for the ill-fated Amstrad GX4000 games console. It is based on the then still-popular CPC Amstrad computer tech. It appeared in the video too 😃
I really hoped you like it here in the UK, it's always been great for games and consoles, all the best from Bradford West Yorkshire.
Used to be a great little stall at The Barras market here in Glasgow, did loads of great retro gaming products.
This is literally around the corner from me in Tooting! Amazing to see you find and give these guys a look! Awesome vid
Closest retro games shop to where I Iive (apart from CEX).
Really good selection, decent prices with knowledgeable staff.
This is great timing. I can take the tube from the O2 next week when I'm there for Duran Duran.
I love this video. It's great seeing retro video games stores from "across the pond."
One thing about Londons outer burrows - you can throw a rock and this a dozen chicken shops.
The Batman white cartridge was the Amstrad GX4000. It was released in 1990 concurrent with the Amstrad CPC Plus home computer.
Ok thanks! I was wondering what those were for.
good afternoon MR. Riggs hope you and your family are doing wonderful, that game store had lots of good stuff thanks for showing us have a wonderful day.
YES you went! Amazing. I am so glad. I going down there very soon too :) Great video John 😁
Love to Michelle and family
This is like 15 mins down the road from me, been meaning to check it out for ages! Kinda surreal to suddeny see you pop up down the road!
The games at 2:41, light grey with red top are for the Amstrad GX400. An 8 bit Console that came out in the 16 bit era
Oh wow John, I live in the UK and even I didn't know it was there! I gotta go next time I'm in the big smoke (London) I'm looking forward to the next video you put out from the U.K. 🙂
Aye me too
I live in London and didn't even know about it
The guy who owns this shop used to work in a shop called Awesome games in Walthamstow. Every Sunday on my meal break from work (I used to work at Dixons) I'd go in and see him (Imran) and he'd trade with me. He was a top man. I saw him at the London Gaming Market and it was good to catch up with him, thats when I learnt about his outfit, it was so good to see him after so long!
This store is just a few minutes walk from my flat! It's not very big, but it does have some good stuff. I've got some stuff I need to sell there.
I'm pretty sure the games at 2:44 are for GX4000, shown at 9:27
I knew I should have gone to London while I was there 2months ago . So awesome games and consoles
Game hunting in Japan should definitely be on your list. Most places don't open until 10 or 11 am, but are open until late. It's definitely bang for your buck except sega mega drive games. Akihabara has lots of hidden treasure stores above ground and under...
Indeed the prices are much cheaper than the UK.
I managed to pick up Shadow Hearts Covenant there for cheap before it's price's spiked long time ago and staff there are cool. That shop is a dream for retro gamers and i'm glad you paid a visit 😊😊
Great video mate love seeing shops like this the few games that you unsure about belong to an Amstrad gx4000.
We had an Amstrad 464 Plus that had very similar cartridges, Barbarian and Burnin’ Rubber specifically
You beat me to it
I loved my GX4000
Welcome to the UK 🇬🇧, hope you have an awesome trip.
Wow this store is a gold mine for retro video games, and from what you showed priced reasonably. Great video John.
You're in UK and you went to crazy thumbs, well done!!!!! Welcome!!!!
I live in London and didn't know about this place. Must give it a visit.
Always cool to see stores in different countries
This was my local. Great SMS selection. Lots of useful bits and bobs like memory cards etc. Love it.
5 mins from my house. Great place! Lovely staff. Great vid!
Im from and live in the UK and didn't know about this shop - it looks awesome!
Great video! Bought back a lot of good memories. I’m a Brit now living in California.
I’m from the US but I absolutely adore that store- when I visit family in London, I always make it a point to stop in. It’s where I’ve gotten a ton of C64 and Speccy cassettes. Hope you were able to check out Broadway Market nearby. Tooting rocks!!
Can US customers order online from this store? I’m wondering what Commodore 64 games they have.
@@dogcatmouse23 Yes. He even said himself "it has international shipping"
This is one of the coolest comments I’ve read for Tooting ❤ it most definitely rocks!!!
Great to crazy thumbs getting some love I live 5 minutes walk from this shop. Can't recommend them enough
One of my favourite shops, used to live in Colliers Wood and this was pretty much my local.
Great video. I stopped being a gamer when I was a teenager (I felt the technology running away from me a bit and lost interest - original Nintendo, Master System, Mega Drive, Super Nintendo and original PlayStation was my lot) - but seeing all the old titles and games lined up brings back good memories and rushes of enjoyment - even if it's games I don't like or I didn't enjoy, there's something nostalgic and great about seeing them in their packs in a store. Just nostalgic, very difficult to explain.
Glad you made it to our UK 🇬🇧
hope you were made to feel welcome
I'm happy to see the love for Super Turrican on the NES!
those white cartridge games are for amstrad gx4000 i think
Glad you had a good time in the UK. Absolutely gutted I couldn't have chatted with you at the show. Would have loved to have met you pal.
Keep up the good work :)
I'm in the UK but always went ntsc. Strange to see an American picking up pal.
Nice to see collectors coming over our side of the pond to check out what’s available….back in the day imports were big as we had scart tv, so we could get American and Japanese consoles and we if I remember properly we had a 60htz to pal adaptor to
Heading here on Friday. Very excited after seeing this video looks like an amazing store!
Crazy that you have crossed the pond to be here! Awesome 😊
Watching now, used to have the amstrad in slide 3 when I was a kid.. with the colour monitor also (fun fact for you.. amstrad owned by Alan Sugar who does the firing on the UK version of the apprentice, thankfully he won't be running for leader of our country soon)
Super Nintendo With Street Fighter II Turbo?!? Cool! Never saw that before, although I used to own both the console and game separately. My SNES came with Super Mario World
Yep that’s the version I got back in day. It was nintendos attempt at gettin one over the megadrive which was by far the more popular console in uk
Never knew about this so. I only live like 40 miles away. Gonna have to go visit next time I'm in London for sure
Watched this to see their Wii U selection. Todays my last day in London, and I’ve still got some exclusive Wii U games I didn’t find
Hey John. New Wave Toys just shipped their Space Ace Replicades Pre-Orders. Just received mine today. Hopefully your getting yours! Thanx for the video!
So sorry to have missed you over here in the UK, I hope you had a blast, I almost lept out of my seat when you showed Starwing, we just did a podcast on that one and talked about the name difference
From guy who lives in the UK there's alot shops that have decent game collection also pawn shops are also recommend in UK there really good ones on the UK to buy games from
I used to live just round the corner and DIDN’T KNOW THIS PLACE EXISTED!!!!
wow fair play sir thats commitment coming all this way for a games convention 👏👏👏....they did have some cool stuff, will try to check it out (not to far from me)...interesting content as always
Never a bad video Mr Riggs
those “unknown” carts (batman/robocop etc) were for the ill fated Amstrad GX4000 console; kinda similar to the Commodore 64GS
Thank you for making this video. Will you meet up with Gemma or have you already met up with her?
That Turrican is a pal Nes exclusive and best Turrican port (destroys tg16 , genesis etc)
the gameboy version is pretty good too I own that and universal soldier
As ever, the prices are crazy for some of the "classics" - I don't know who buys an old 16 bit game for > £30 .... in my mind, mental, but I did live through that time period and had many of those games. Nice to see everything in one place though, eye candy for me, but no money going in that direction.
I don't know why people spend £70 on the latest Fifa or Madden game, knowing its just a slight update of last year's game and it will be completely worthless in 12 months time.
@@System_Sega Updated rosters, that's literally the only reason lol, such a waste of money.
Nice video John - well done on unearthing a retro store I didn’t know about. To my great shame this store is in the town of my birth Tooting in Wandsworth ! In my defence I’ve not been there for a few years but as I live only a few miles away I have a feeling that I will be coming home! Cheers Mate! Hope London is treating you well👍👍
11:29 Aw hell, that thing can play my old anime VCDs! You gotta get it!
This place is local to me and I never even knew about it. Very lucky.
So cool to see you in the UK! Love your videos!
The Wizards and Warriors III NES Cart on the top right @ 3:47 looks interesting.
Thanks for posting this, I am desperate to find ANY retro game shops in and around London! I know where my next trip will be !
Man thanks for sharing you adventures in UK and cool video bro!👉😃👈
I would go crazy for that UMD Video shelf they have. So many amazing titles that Ive been looking for
Nice to see you on Console Wars video!
Great video my man 😍 I live in the Uk and have picked up some psp and ds games from here. I live in Canterbury Kent if you are still in the UK I would recommend going to either the Retro Hunter in Southend or Level Up Games in Canterbury both retro games goodness 😊
Welcome to the UK 🎉 I hope you enjoy New Zealand Story ! It’s an amazing game.
The Philips Videopac was my first game system.
So many hours playing games with squares shooting at triangles. :)
02:48 They’re Amstrad game carts for the GX4000 console and CPC Plus computers.
They were a huge flop here in the UK.
I actually had one as a kid. I had Burnin Rubber, Batman and Fire and Forget II
Me too.. burning rubber pack in and Navvy Seals
Riggs needs to make more UK game hunting videos‼️
My first memory of playing a game ever was The Newszealand Story. It was on the master system though. I didn't even know there was a NES version.
If I was hanging out with John Riggs in a game store I d say I'd buy that for a dollar 😊
There was a "Operation Winback 2"?
I've been hunting PS2 games in the UK for over 2 decades and have never seen it. In fact, I certainly don't remember any magazine reviews or info at all. Must be a Mandela Effect ha. Some bargains in there as well as some high prices tbh. But hey, that's Retro gaming in 2023 for ya. Still, really cool shop!
Enjoy the rest of your stay here in the UK John!
The shop is about 10 years old. No way been around since the 3DO era. That was a shop in Tooting called New Age which has closed down
Hope you enjoyed your time over here 👍
I was there in February looking for the 4 PAL exclusive N64 games. They only had F1 World GP 2. They had 2 copies and I bought one. I was a bit disappointed I couldn't find football manager because I heard that was one of the most common games there.
2:50 Amstrad GX4000
didnt expect to see somewhere i recognise!!
I saw Breath of Fire 3 for PSP in there. It never came out in the US initially, though it did get a digital release like 10 years after it initially released in Europe and Japan, which released on PSP in 2006 initially, while it came to the US digitally in 2016.
Great game, too.
the white games where for the Amstrad gx4000 😉
what day did you go to crazy thumbs john? i was in there thursday (20th) and purchased a sega saturn game!
i visit every 6 months when my partner visits the nearby hospital to see a specialist, its a great shop and friendly owner!
there is also a CEX down the road from crazy thumbs too ;)
Pretty sure that Robocop 2 is for the Amstrad GX4000. And possibly other Amstrad systems- don't know what interchanges on their hardware.
Wow, Rise of the Robots on Mega Drive is a blast from the past! I spent hours on that game despite it not reaaaaallly being worth it! 😉
man i wish i lived near a store like that. the local video game store is really small and doesnt have a lot of games because i live in a really small town. itd be cool to visit a place like this some day.
Some nice finds there... and what an amazing shop!
Great video John, I was in London in the end of macrh and tried to find some video game store only to find out CeX had like 2 Master System games. Too bad I didnt knew about Crazy Thumbs. Maybe they can ship some games to me now !
Dropzone is phenomenal on the NES, one of the best ports
Great store been a few times always helpful and fair prices
You noticed that console can use VCDs but forgot to notice its name: BUNG.
bung was the name of the company that made the doctor v64. i have two of them but never use them anymore. not since the everdrive
@@bentheking2452 I just thought the name was funny
Power Blade is crazy expensive. I got mine mixed in a bundle of games and a broken NES for cheap. Sometimes you get lucky
Oooo looks like a place I need to visit 🤩
Very cool shop, thanks for sharing. I've wanted an AmigaCD32 for a while. I have Crackout for Famicom Disk!
Been there myself such a cool shop with nice staff, you should check out Sore thumbs if you’re ever in York
Tooting will always be such a brutal experience
Wrong info about the Doctor V64. It was made by Bung Enterprises, not by developers. It's mainly a piracy "backup" device, to play ROMs from CDR, like the Doctor SF series, Pro Fighter, WildCard etc for the SNES which used floppies. Some devolopers did use them to run ROMs that they were developing, for testing etc as the V64 was cheaper than the Nintendo dev kit.
I hope you picked up some Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig candies at M&S!
Sweet seeing they had an old radio shack game and watch there. Thats definitely something id have snapped up.
