Ah yes, the times when games with the same name were actually entirely different games, because the various platform's performance was just so vastly different from one another that, for example, a Nintendo DS just couldn't possibly process a 3D game like a PS2 could. But it's actually very sad, even strange to call them the same name, because they aren't the same game AT ALL. I'm now looking forward to get a PS2 and/or PS3 to experience those gems the way they were best! I played TloS: A New Beginning on Nintendo DS and while I enjoyed the game, it was just not the same as the real full 3D game at all.
Same with me. And I have to say that I much prefer the DS version of "A New Beginning" over the PS2. That port was really fun to play and well done for inferior experience. I do like the boss fights that you are fliyng all around instead on playing on the ground.
They spent all the time to release the game on PS2/Wii/360/PS3, but didn't make a PC port. Even a mediocre PC port would do wonders to make this game more easily playable in the current year.
I found the ps2 version for about 8 dollars on a saw meet years ago. I can't afford the ps3 pal version. So I came here looking if there's was a major difference. I don't see much other than the graphics. And I could care less. As I still play ps2 games.
The difference goes beyond the graphics, the scenes have more details. Vally of Avalar is the most notable, the trees move, you see butterflies and leaves flying, flowers, mushrooms, you see that stream carrying some tree branches. has shadow effects, particles too
the effects of the powers are much more beautiful on the ps3 too, and an interesting detail is that the melee attacks have the effects of the equipped element, for example if you use a melee attack with the electricity element, the spyro's claws will actually stay with lightning sparks, it won't just be a yellow trail
they didn't even plan the port for the PSP, it would be nice, if it was released, having to remove files and having a graphic downgrade. considering java, it's decent game.
