📄 Spyro: A Hero's Tail is the fifth console game in the original Spyro series and the ninth game in the series overall. Developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software, it was the first game in the series for the Xbox, as well as the second game in the series for the PlayStation 2 and ported to the GameCube.

I think I prefer the Xbox version. Mostly because it has widescreen support and it has the best lighting.
If I could release a Spyro plug and play, it'd feature the PSone versions of the original 3 games and the Xbox version of A Hero's Tail!

Don't feel bad, you still have a great game! Finding Nemo looks WAY better on the Xbox than the Gamecube, the Gamecube version is the one my Mom bought me but I'm still very happy to have it! Some games, like The Simpsons Road Rage, are just as good on the Gamecube as they are on the Xbox! Both versions run at the perfect framerate but if you are REALLY picky over how detailed your games look, you may still want to have the Xbox version instead. Need for Speed Underground has better car visuals on the Gamecube but the backgrounds look more detailed on the Xbox, which just goes to show you can't expect the Xbox version of EVERY game to be better in EVERY way.
«Spyro: A Hero's Tail» has unfairly received mixed reviews from critics and gamers alike. I think people underestimate her. In my opinion, this game is the best thing that happened to the Spyro series since the end of the original trilogy. But the game «Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly» on the GameCube, I think is a good game, she was just unlucky, the developers, unfortunately, did not have time to realize all their ideas. For this reason, I perceive Enter the Dragofly not as a separate game, but as just a short addition - DLC to the original trilogy.
There is probably an error in this video. You indicated that the Xbox version runs at 640x480, but in fact, with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the game runs at 848x480. I have an xbox 360 s, it is compatible with many original xbox games, also i have a xbox 360 vga hd av cable. If you go to the system settings, then to the display settings, you can change the signal resolution up to 1920x1080, but the games of the original Xbox only support 480p and 576p depending on the region. In the screen resolution menu, you can select the following resolutions: 640x480 (4:3), 848x480 (16:9), 1024x768 (4:3), 1280x720 (16:9), 1280x800 (8:5 aka 16:10), 1280x1024 (5:4), but games can run in a 4:3 aspect ratio at this resolution, which stretches them in height. The maximum resolution for games released on the Xbox 360 is 1280x1024, scaling occurs at higher resolutions. 1920x1080 only works with interlaced scanning.

I can spot two differences. XBox version has more pronounced shadows and outlines, and it has widescreen. Neither of these are enough to sway me on any version over another, though I think those more pronounced shadows end up looking a little worse on the cartoony art style. Hmm... I suppose the best version is whichever controller you like better. This is one of the rare good Spyro games after the license was sold off, so it's worth picking up whichever version you can get. I think I'll end up picking the PS2 version simply because in my mind Spyro's a Playstation series.
Nearly identical, only major difference is the shadows, the GameCube has blurry shadows compared to PS2 and Xbox.
even though the resolution is 640x480 on all 3 platforms you can still see a difference in jagged edges. It goes Xbox > Gamecube > PS2. I wonder if some form of Anti-aliasing is in play here.
omg i played this game and it was one of the funniest spyro games ever just cuz of his eyes they were going al over the place he was getting cross eyed then one of his eye was looking to the left and other one to the right it was hilarious idk why that happened cuz his eyes looks normal here maybe it was glitched cuz i played on emulator so it was broken but i loved it lol :D
but gameplay was fine and not glitchy at all only his eyes

any idea why the text/text boxes look so awful on the xbox version? everything else looks so much better, but the issues with the text are really glaring. could that just be an emulator issue?
My guess is that it could've been a mistake made during development. Even so, just because the Xbox is the most powerful system doesn't automatically mean it got the best version of EVERY game. Need for Speed Underground (for example) mostly looks cleaner on the Gamecube than on the Xbox, but the backgrounds are more detailed on the Xbox than on the Gamecube. However, had I got that game when it was new, I would've opted for the PS2 version as it was the only one to have online play. The Simpsons Road Rage suffers from a less-than-perfect framerate on the PS2 but both the Xbox and Gamecube versions run at the framerate you'd want a game of this generation to run at! Game like Rayman 3 and The Wrath of Cortex I'd rather get for the Gamecube as those versions offer Game Boy Advance connectivity!
It seems to be an issue with 360 emulation. I had many problems with the actual ogxbox for pc but the text looked good
Now that Spyro is owned by Xbox, I hope they make Spyro 4.
Actually Spyro 4 is in the making. They hinted it via Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time's Concept Artbook. I believe we're somewhat close to get an announcement of it. Also, Xbox confirmed that they're gonna keep releasing multiplatform games to other consoles. So things are good I think. 😀
