  • I replace the head gasket and clean up the horrific scene inside the engine discovered upon pulling the head off the old flat head 4.

    I share your fascination for these old machines that were made to last. With a minimum of maintenance I bet it will still run by the turn of the next century. Thanks for sharing - and keeping this old tractor alive for generations to come.

    I got a 46 as well. Love it but the guy I bought it from painted 8n colors. He also had a 9n, it run and all but it was all froze up and no tires, so I just got the 2n. He thought they were all 8ns until I taught him. 1939 to 1942 are 9n. 1942 to 1948 are 2n. 1948 to 195? Are 8n. The 2n i think in 1943 or 44 were non battery and steel wheels for 2 years I think then just before war was over they went back to battery and rubber tires. Just a bit of history for you guys. Love the video keep them coming.

    What a great show Bus. I enjoyed hearing that 4 cylinder pop. We had a International/Farmall BN narrow front we pulled the wagon loads of firewood to the house. All those old tractors are great machines still to this day. Good day Sir and be safe.

    Great job, Bus. Hopefully it will be a good many years before you have to do that job again. It's amazing how many old tractors of all makes are still working hard today. They also offer a lot of "bang for the buck" if you are patient and keep your eyes open for the right deal. I use my 1952 Ferguson TO-30 for all sorts of chores, and it cost me less than many of the lawn tractors at Lowes and Home Depot.

    At 5:20, Because 2 mpg. But I told you last year what a pleasure it is to work on old tractors, because they're made to be torn completely down in the middle of a field somewhere. It's like building a house from trees vs one from Legos... The tractor being the Legos of course. ;p

    Straight edge and feeler gauge check or just slapping on a new gasket?

    • @BusHuxley
      @BusHuxley  4 года назад

      I did actually do the straight edge thing, and it looked shockingly good. It never got hot enough to change shape i guess, cause its a really tight seal now and not blowing any steam.

  • @mrpatrickwilson1

  • @MrVile-bz9fw
    @MrVile-bz9fw 4 года назад +1

    Bus, that is what upsets me everyday I try to fix any car or truck now adays. Every thing is built to {MAYBE} last as long as the payments your making. The other upsetting thing is vehicles and equipment COST AS MUCH AS SOME HOUSES!@!!!!
    Put a fuel shut off on it and when you intend to leave it for a few days shut off the fuel and let it run to burn up all that fuel in the lines and carb that way it won't give you fuel gummed up system. The fuel nowadays is 15% ethanol & that contains water which will create rust and gue in your tractor.
