    Context is so important to consider when communicating. I can definitely relate to not being there mentally at a late meeting and that time can have a big impact on one's ability to receive information.

    It's crazy to me that I already knew all of this information, but seeing it in this different light changes my whole perspective of communication and how its not easy to convey a message perfectly in the way you desire. I thought it was interesting that a group of adults were able to be like, "Hey this meeting time sucks, I wanna go home". I could never imagine doing that at my work. It's also interesting just learning about different work environments as well.

    While in Switzerland, my German-speaking Students asked me if the English Language had a “Proper Form” for addressing elders, teachers, adults, etc.
    I told them that we try to avoid slang or using phrases like “yo, dude I was totes LOLing at your last DM. Please spill the tea,” when speaking to a person of possible importance. Understanding Cultural Context, like the video stated, may also be important while traveling and/or communicating with others from a different culture.

      School assignments can be tricky. One one had the professor is ths audience, that's obvious, but they may want you to write for a different audience. So yeah, the A paper may be one that they don't "get" but they see that your audience would.

    I think that context is extremelly importan in communication. I can confirm it because I am from Chile and now I am living in the United States and some things here are very different to Chile. The culture affects a lot on it. For example in Chile every time that you meet with a person you kiss him/her in the cheek. Here in the United States I have never done that because nobody do it.

    Cultural context is definitely noticed when you go out of the country. For example I went to Mexico and everyone ate with their hands at the table, I ate with fork and spoon 🍴 they looked at me strange but that’s just what I was used to since growing up in the USA it’s usually not common for people to eat with their hands at the table 😂(unless it’s pizza 🍕)

    This video reminded me when I almost yelled on a bus (it came out as a shriek when I remembered where I was half a second later). I also semi-pumped my fist because my favorite soccer team scored, so it all came out weird. To be fair, it was an important match, but I did probably end up looking like the “crazy bus person” to those around me. It would have definitely be more justified if I had be sitting atop some bleachers. Oh well, totally worth it to see that goal! 😄

  • @TheMusicPinkLover91

    I am not sure if what I have in mind is in context with what this video is saying.
    But I get the feeling that, at times, I am not able to understand a question/argument properly. For example, the doctor asks me "how are you feeling?". I thought that he asked me how I feel while using a particular long-term medicine I was prescribed to and how has the medicine affected me. So I gave him examples of certain effects that I think I have gone through. Apparently, according to my mum, that wasn't what he meant to tell me and I understood wrong. And I still don't know what is it that I am doing wrong.
    Am I being out of context here? I'm sorry if I have but I don't know how to tackle such a manner.

    • @NutshellBrainery
      @NutshellBrainery  2 года назад +1

      Yes, context definitely plays a part in this example, as to our filters as described in the first video in this series. We all have different ideas if what words and phrases mean. As a result, we can say the same thing and mean something completely different. Very tricky stuff!
