By the way, the mother in that scene is Martin Scorsese's mother. She was not given any lines but just told to be herself and interact.
You can see the resemblance.
RUclips gave me that short recently 😂
And his dad played the guy making the prison sauce aka Italian Gravy ...
It’s a beautiful scene as well. She was brilliant as the mother.
And she NAILED IT
"Ay ma, it's a sin" haha

Always liked the fact that the mother’s serving them all this homemade Italian food and DeNiro playing an Irishman reaches for the ketchup.
We know!!!!!!
for most italian mothers, that would be an insult. but deniro is playing an irish guy, so she isnt insulted
Scorsese's actual mom
@@thewkovacs316 Deniro actually called Henry n asked him how he used the catsup bottle

@@jsjonas-ikr After they murdered and buried Billy Batts, they had to dig him back up to move his body because construction was going on there and they didn’t want it found.
When they found his body, Jimmy says “I found a leg” and then Tommy goes “Here’s a wing! What do you like Henry? The leg or the wing?” Meanwhile Henry is barfing due to the smell of Batts’ decomposing body.
Tommy is making a dark joke by referring to Batts’ body like chicken, showing just how heartless he was.

The "how am I funny?" scene from Goodfellas will live forever. Absolutely brilliant.
Funny how?
That's actually happened to Joe in real life with some real gang members and he said it was painful and awkward for him so he tells it to Marty and they put it on the movie.
And it was improvised!
Funny how? I amuse you?
@@Platerpus7 am I here to f.cking amuse you?
I watched Goodfellas in a special showing in theaters to honor Ray Liotta (RIP), and I swear I heard more laughter that night than in over 95% of comedies nowadays
You’re 100% right! I laugh more in that movie than I do in comedies. The way Joe Pesci talks gets me every time! Calling everybody a prick 1000 times! Haha!! hilarious
Now, how the hell is that so funny? I just wanna know what's so goddamn funny about it?!

I thought I was the only one. Lol. I don't know about it getting a huge laugh, but the way he says it is perfect.
He casually said 2 words. I don't get how that's noteworthy.
@@jackjack4412 it added to the fact that they were having such a casual and loose conversation with a body in the car; especially when in between, you see Henry looking so unsettled.

Martin Scorsese was a master of dark humor long before Tarantino.
Although I love them both. Two legends.
Considering Martin is 21 years older than Quentin that’s obvious. Other than that not so much.
Scorese is ten times better than Tarantino ever will be
@@Tonycillian5 Their film résumés say otherwise. Btw ten times and ever will be…Tarantino is in the same league
Scorsese is one of tarantino’s biggest inspiration.
This might shock you but I kinda like them both. 🤷
What i love is it being so natural. Its like they are not acting they are just friends having breakfast.thats what i love with his films how natural they are.its crazy how easily they do it

it worked because marty used to bring deniro, pesci and others over for meals a lot. that was actually food she had cooked
A lot of that scene is improvised ... especially his mother's lines ... that's why it seems so natural ... because it is .
Goodfellas and Godfather part one and part two. Greatest movies ever made.
I've been putting off watching them because I'm waiting for a cinema to hold a viewing of all 3 - which has happened with other iconic trilogies.
Question: is part 3 significantly worse than the other two?
@@v.k.healthlongevity9807 it was ridiculed but it’s not actually bad. If you watched Godfather Part III as a stand-alone film, it still makes most of the films today look bad … (yes, Marvel films).
@Troll Punk I'm not an old head that claims everything was better in my day and everything new is trash but Marvel is honestly mass produced horseshit to bring in money from the same morons that believe Avatar is the greatest movie of all time.
I gotta be honest.. Godfather 2 didn't impress me. 1 and 3 were pretty good. I still prefer Casino and Goodfellas
@Frawriest it's funny how we can agree to disagree lol. I love Casino and Goodfellas as well, but don't like Godfather Part 1 or 3 much. I thought Godfather 2 was a masterpiece though.
“One goes East and the other one goes West.”
“And this guy’s saying what do’ya want from me?”
My eye doctor had that same picture on the wall behind the reception desk. He said not many😁 people recognize it.
The scene where Tommy impersonates Karen's mother and mocking Henry is hilarious 😂
I thought I was weird for thinking the way DeNiro says "hoof" is funny. Legit one of the best lines in the movie and it's so random and shouldn't be funny at all just as it is in the script.
Love that line. It's right up there with 'a little bit'. Same film. Same actor.
@@waynej2608 Yeah love that one too. Everything DeNiro does in Goodfellas is great. Even the way he's stomping on Billy Bats is funny, or at least odd.

Humour is not only a defence mechanism but a coping mechanism. It is used to help to get over what otherwise would be impossible feelings of guilt and remorse
Love this. Your wise.
That is why people having real hard and rough times growing up, are brilliant in creating funny and humoristic lines and sceneries. Humor is a real signal of intelligence. There is nothing more difficult making people laugh without a writers, slapstick and a storyline.
It sounds like you are saing that guilt is more real than humor.
"When i hate it i know i can feel.
But when i love it i know it's not real."
😅
Objects are nutral.
Your projection is not.
Enjoy the movie you pay.
Lol if you thought Jimmy or Tommy felt guilt and remorse.
Kind of like in “The Pacific” when Snafu makes a game out of tossing pebbles into the skull of a corpse which had its skull cap blown away in battle
or when they prop up a dead body and covered with a cap and said “want to meet my bro” in Full Metal Jacket..
Martin Scorsese is a briilant man! His movies with these great actors will be watched for many years to come. I watch these movies numerous times & they never get old. Thank you for all the wonderful movies that was how the Mob operated. Brilliant! Ontario, 🇨🇦
Owned Pesci with two words... Thats talent
Goodfellas has been my favorite movie since I first saw it when I was 15. The more I see it the more I view it as a comedy. Oh that Morrie, he always knew how to ruffle Jimmy's feathers.
Little scenes like this make his movies great.
They are the best actors that are a classic forever
I love how they all refer to each other by nicknames.

By far one of my all time favorite movies.
Whenever I say “hoof”. I say it like DeNiro says it in Goodfellas. Haha
Whenever I see that part of goodfellas I always felt like Joe Pesci could never remember the hoof. I always felt that way and now I know I was right.
Its a masterpiece
Absolutely NOTHING beats the extremely dark but subtle humor of The King of Comedy. Only other film that even comes close is The Heartbreak Kid (1972).
Dinero putting ketchup on his food was a sin
I know
You’re wrong…E’ il migliore
It’s the best!!!
I don't necessarily agree with Bob politically, but as an actor I give him a lot of respect.
Yeah he’s starting to lose it.
But no one can top him in Deer Hunter, GF 2.
Joe Pesci is one of those guys who could probably convince an actual mobster that he was in the group just from a different chapter.
Trunk guy wasn't dead yet, he was kicking the trunk all thru dinner😮
Martin is in his 80's and she's still alive

The way I was introduced to Goodfellas could not have been any better. I had a baseball coach from Yonkers when I was 16. We had a tourney out of town so he rented a projector for us to all watch Goodfellas. He couldn’t have been more New York so he would point out to us all the best moments in the movies like “now watch how Paulie looks back at Henry” 😂😂 so I see Goodfellas through his eyes and it was perfect.
