** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Wild boar, or feral hogs, are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of disease and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.

You guys are incredible. I'm glad somebody's doing this work to get rid of these feral pigs. We just have to educate people about how much the farmers take a hit when these animals eat all their crops. Great videos by the way

I talked to a hog hunter the other day. He told me if you kill a young one about 120-160lbs that is some of best eating you can find. The meat is very lean.
You mix it with some beef and season it up.
It makes the best sausage, pork chops, spare ribs you can get.
You can fill your freezer up with some great pork.

Much more efficient than fencing traps.
Yes and no. When the hogs are clear of livestock, this is most effective. But when they are moving from cover to cover and only feeding amongst the cattle, a GIANT (like 50' diameter) circular trap in the brush is the answer. Most people make the mistake of using too small of a trap and they learn quick to avoid.
I think with fencing, they still have to die. Right?

I've only shot 1 feral hog so far. It was a rush for me. Wish I could hunt more of them, but haven't seen them around in a couple years

El Flaco Denver they try to get as much as they can, but they just keep breeding and sometimes you can't pick all the carcases up, they are still eaten by coyotes, crows, buzzards, shit, even other hogs eat them. Nothing really gets wasted.
Licensed hunters are allowed to sell it - for example, to Italian restaurants and pizzerias in New York.
