    Very Interesting comparo. Is it possible for you to compare the 16 to 55 f2.8 on Sony APS-C vs the Panasonic G9 with Panny 12 to 35 f2.8 or Olympus 12to 40 f2.8? These combos are roughly the same prices used in UK. If possible, also include the Tamron 17 to 70 on APS-C Sony?
    I really enjoy your thorough videos.

      Unfortunately, none of that is possible, I left both Sony APS-C and M43 systems.

    Could you please help me with my question
    Is Sony 50mm lens it better than kit lens 16-50

    • @Audit-The-Auditors
      @Audit-The-Auditors 4 года назад

      There is no answer to this, both have benefits and downsides - it totally depends on your requirements as the prime 50mm will not be able to provide the wide angle aspect of the 16mm end of the kit lens. The 50mm is however faster in terms of max aperture.

    According to what I have seen about the Sony 18-105,, f4, i have to say it is a quite useful lens for the a6xxx series. I have heard no bad word about it so far. I am about to replace my kitlens with it in the near future. I'll see how will it work out.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 лет назад +2

      I will probably pass on that one, it doesn't fit my needs, it is quite big and heavy, not much sharper than my copy of kit lens, min. focus distance of 0.45m is not good for me, I find the kit lens to be much more usable, only with shorter reach, I will have to find something else for longer focal lengths, probably Sigma 50-100.
      But Sony 18-105 will still be good choice for many, especially for video, I will at least try to get my hands on one to test it out.

    • @lg.studio

      Yes, the 50-100 is a beast of a lens, but a bit expensive for my budget, and I also need a wide option for my event shooting. I'm very curious about your opinion about that 18-105 sony :)

    Thanks for another informative video! I have a G85 with the 12-60 kit lens and I'm considering buying a Panasonic 20mm f1.7 prime lens for street photography. Have you (or anyone reading this) had experience using that combination?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  6 лет назад +2

      Unfortunately, I haven't tested 20mm F1.7 yet, but I will get it in near future.
      Thank you for watching!

      Vincent Cammisa I have 25mm f1.4 and this is the best addition to my kit lense. I'm thinking to trade 12-60 kit lense for Panasonic 14-140 or Tamron 14-150. Any idea will I loose quality in 14-60mm range? Thank you!

    I have a question i bought a g85 with the kit lense also i bought a 25mm f/1.7 “ equivalent to 50mm “ i want a wide angle lens i dont care if its prime or from Panasonic or adapted i just want a wide lens for Vlogs and also for Landscapes !!

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 лет назад +2

      I would definitely recommend Panasonic 7-14mm F4, that is one of the sharpest lenses for MFT cameras, and also the best focusing lens that I have tested on G85 so far. I will make a review of that lens next week.

      The Hybrid Shooter thanks ! Am just worried about it not being weather sealed and being kinda old for that price so maybe make a video on it and a cheaper alternative ?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 лет назад

      The only weather sealed option is the new Leica 8-18, but that one costs much more than 7-14mm, there unfortunately isn't cheaper alternative. Design is old, but there is nothing that would make you notice that.

    • @Trillavision

      try olympus 7-14 2.8 or voigtlander 10.5 0.95

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 лет назад +2

      I don't recommend either of those for G85, Panasonic 7-14mm is better choice than Olympus 7-14mm because it works better on Panasonic body and in-camera corrections that you get with Panasonic lens on Panasonic body are great and very important at this focal length, especially in video. Voigtlander 10.5mm f/0.95 is expensive and generally not suitable for Vlogs.

    And the Leica 12-60mm f2.8-4 blows all kit lens out of the water. Love that lens!

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 лет назад +1

      It does, but at completely different price point.

    • @chrisklugh
      @chrisklugh 5 лет назад

      @@TheHybridShooter Agreed. But I think if you get the lens packaged with a body, its only $600. With that combo, its a great lens. But I don't think I would pay full retail for a glorified kit lens, even though its my most used lens I use. I prey I never have to consider replacing it. lol

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 лет назад

      @@chrisklugh You will 12-60 Lumix for about 100 dollars in kit, so it is still not very relevant comparison.

    • @chrisklugh
      @chrisklugh 5 лет назад

      Fair enough. However, comparing apples to oranges, the Lumix for $100 is paired with more entry/armature level bodies. Get into the Pro Bodies, most of them use specialized lens.
      It definitely puts the Leica in an odd spot where most pros wont use a glorified kit lens if they will use other options. I like my glorified kit lens, for the price I paid for it, and how much use I get out of it, even with my other options, I would not sell it. I think of it as a constant aperture f4 that meets or beats my other lens that is small enough for everyday carry with the only limitation is its not 'fast'.

    Please, do not say "eco-system". "Eco" means "living" or "alive". It's a system. Artificial NOT alive.

      I'm afraid that is what people call it, so I will have to continue using that term.
