      Given this passage is written to the church, it would seem that women should act this way as well. Of course, the Greek word for "act like men" is translated as be courageous and I would agree believing women should, just as they are likewise advised to put on the whole armor of God.

    A woman submits (honors/respects)
    Children obey (follow/respects/gives/serves) learning the value of all three.
    our culture has none of this going on right now

      If you look at several scriptures, men and women are both guided to love, respect, and submit to one another. Indeed, a husband must respect his wife as co-heir or equal partner even if she is not as physically strong as she is for she has the right to be called a son of God, or heir.

    Many women today do not like men ( real men)…I have a sister that is one of them ( married & divorced 3x). Personally, what is not to like about a strong, courageous, hard working guy who especially reflects Jesus.?!? I have been married 45 years, I like men, they are generally not very complicated. They like to feel they are needed and wanted just like women. Men have a lot put on them in society, they like a refuge from always having to perform be that a place or a physical person; howbeit, Jesus the the ultimate refuge ! This world is getting worse by the day, who would have thought we would have to start explaining to adults what men & women are!😎

    This reminds me of the all too abused verse, 1 Corinthians 13:11. Taken out of context as to what the rest of Paul is saying and used to make an arbitrary distinction between adults and children in many cases. It is a wonderful video and a good illustration of how the Bible can and does inform men of how to be. Being "macho" does not make you more of a man, and that's from a family that basically only had macho men but none that were truly devoted to Christ.

My Biblical argument for transgender acceptance is based on Matthew 19:12 and Galatians 3:28. There's nothing wrong with being a male sissy-pants, if that's the destiny that has God has ordained any of Their elect to fulfill. Well, if you were born in a Western country such as the USA and then moved to an Eastern culture country such as India where blue and pink are not even a cultural reference, then you would understand how contextual and relative our external expressions of masculinity or femininity are. For example, men In Sri Lanka often wear simple tubular cloth skirts, and pants are modern things that Eastern men are only adjusting to in the last 300 years of interaction with Western culture. In some rural areas, pants are uncommon and are sometimes seen as a luxury. Also, women in many Eastern cultures wear some types of pants in numerous countries, from Pakistan to China. This gender-distinctive way of dressing has been the cultural norm for a long time. When someone becomes a Christian in the East, I hope no one asks them to dress as if they were from the West. My number one recommendation for those who haven’t traveled to the East is to take a trip somewhere where you will be forced to think through your own culture and customs Outside of your Western cultural context. Honestly, I didn’t realize how much of my thinking was culturally absorbed until I traveled abroad.

Our confusion (as believers) has proven we have not been vigilant nor knowledgeable about social issues. Therefore, God has given us the consequences of our actions (a more depraved culture). But I believe as long as we are repenting and seeking righteousness then God will bless us again with a more positive and godly culture.

    Shell #1: I should point out a couple of things: first, each human being is a totally unique recombination of the essential parts that comprise us. Sex is not a *direct or mechanical* binary, even though there ARE only two possible categories for it. Second, because we live in a fallen world, East of Eden so to speak, legitimate anomalies can arise that cross the boundary between these. Such specific cases (intersex) deserve to be carefully contemplated on a case-by-case basis, just as with any other medical anomaly.
    Shell #2: I consider that opening statement to be backwards. It is not that they disregard the Bible for the sake of their agenda. The agenda exists to spit in YHWH's eye. It is pure, unfiltered shaking of the fist at their Maker.
    Shell #3: When your male peers say a man should get tattoos, it's your discretion whether to go along with it or not*. I find body modding in general to be ugly and don't participate. By contrast, when your male peers say you should "Get some [a certain epithet for the female sex]", you are not only allowed, but REQUIRED to go against the grain.
    * note: fashion and pop culture trends DO have overarching meanings. In particular, it's important to avoid affiliating yourself (and by extension, Christ whose members you are) with subcultures or messages that revolve around shaking their fist at YHWH.

    Let me tell you, as a Christian man, husband, father, bible study leader, nothing TEACHES you about manhood like serious strength training (except combat). Yes the Bible informs us what a true man is and how a true man should act but we have to do to really learn. Do you have the self discipline to regularly and consistently put yourself under the bar at ever increasing weight week in week out for months on end? Do you have the sheer grit and determination to keep training even when it gets really hard, to grind out that last rep when everything in you says it can't be done? Do you have what it takes to fail and go back the next time to try again (and again if necessary)? Not talking gym queen 'watch myself flex in a mirror as I curl a dumbbell for the xteenth time' rather I deadlifted or back squatted x for 3 or 5 last time, can I manage x+1 for that number of reps today? Try it for a couple of months - you will soon see what I mean.

    Valid question that I actually would like answered. The “provide and protect” thing I never found described as “male traits” but God the Fathers traits. 1 Peter 3:7 is about physical abuse. Second if a man loses their job for being layed-off are they a bad man? If their family gets murdered are they a bad man? Or does this have exception to “role?”

    • @visualpun650
      @visualpun650 Год назад

      Regarding losing a job or getting murdered...according to the video's teachings, no, they do not make you a "bad" example of masculinity. No one is perfect and any man can fail to provide and protect. If you don't try to get a new job afterwards, if you are lazy in doing basic safeguarding like making sure your kid puts on his seat belt and neglectful and leave your dog or baby in a hot car that could be "anti-manly" in the biblical sense according to this video. However if the biblical part is the most important part of "being a man" --- then in this society (where physical strength is not super important) I can see why women can be just as "biblically masculine" as a man. They can be protective, provide, lead, be courageous, be proactive, because they can read the Bible and follow Jesus just as well as a man.

    • @prey4kali
      @prey4kali Год назад

      @@visualpun650 bless you for being the first person to actually have a dialogue with me about this. I was honestly curious at where the lines are blurred between God the Father, and us as earthly fathers. What’s actually our responsibility or what’s supposed to be let up to God in faith, but not without our own works of course.

    • @visualpun650
      @visualpun650 Год назад +1

      @@prey4kali I think since “protect” is sometimes not so needed in everyday life, “proactive” is a trait we can all look to develop. To me that goes beyond talking to your wife when something is going on sooner than later, not waiting till she tells you to take out the garbage if that something that is agreed is part of your responsibility. There should a fair division of responsibility in the household, but it is admirable if a man can be relied on to go beyond the established fairness line and pick up the slack. And if you do consistently do more, that is great, but don’t use it as a tool to belittle her. And avoid keeping score of the relationship even in your head. Who makes more mistakes. Who is lazier.

    Deuteronomy 22:5
    “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God."
    It is not according to nature, but contrary to nature, that men should be effeminates.”
    - Augustine, "City of God"
    "If a man eating lion escaped from a zoo it would probably starve, because there are not enough men in the world to eat"

    I struggle with that. The whole pants thing. There were no pants in Jesus time and before then. So How do we allow society to determine what's ok for us to wear? We know what they wore back then, at least it seems we do... NOT a fundie.

      Why does it matter? Seems to me clothes are themself not wrong, but the reason for wearing them sure can be.

      A person can determine what is ok by using God's law as the measuring stick. If a person is wearing something to draw attention to themselves or to cause someone to sin, they probably shouldn't be wearing it. The whole reason why the Bible isn't more detailed about what a person shouldn't wear is because God wants ppl to learn how to exercise proper judgement(Heb. 5:14).

      Actually, yes they did wear pants in the days of Jesus. They were called ‘breeches’ in scripture. Breeches simply means trousers.
      Exodus 28:42 KJV
      And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:

    The issue is culture as well changes…. Therefore, if culture changes and my standards change with culture, I am inconsistent.
    It would be reasonable for me to say that this or that appears feminine and when I do it, I feel “feminine”, therefore I should avoid doing it. But, even then if I stuck by that, who is to say my feelings will not change as well?
    While bashing Fundamentalists for believing women should consider wearing dresses and skirts, you have basically made all of this a matter of personal opinion.
    I grew up a Fundamentalists. I left it, became a Satanists, and later accepted Christ as my Saviour.
    My wife and I believe there Are genuine norms in what men and women should wear. We both believe, especially in our culture today, that when a woman chooses to wear a dress or a skirt, she is acting against the tides to change the divisions between man and woman. As far as we can conclude, a dress or skirt is the most feminine thing a woman could wear.
    While men wore togas and robes down through history, that does not mean that there were not clear distinct differences between what they wore and what woman wore. Woman also in the East tended to wear coverings over their heads. In a world where gender distinction is rare, it would be wiser to dress apart from the opposite gender and purposefully make a distinction that is visible.
    Though, of course, the inward man must not be placed as a lower priority. We must be concerned about the inward man and not just the outward man. But, by no means should we ignore the outward man, and claim our inward man is all God cares about at all. Especially because the outward man is often a reflection of what is inside. The reason the outward man may not match, is because we people tend to be hypocrites.
    I get so tired of people going around bashing every single Fundamentalist as if they are foolish in their beliefs. In reality, give it a few years and you will see many of the decisions we have made were in response to the culture to be salt, and to make sure that we hold onto gender distinction and many other things. While we may appear foolish, I would give it a second thought and consider our beliefs again….
    Not every single culture had men wearing skirts. Also, not every culture consisted where men wore togas or robes.
    Doesn’t it just seem foolish to look at our ancestors, those who came before us, and to see how they dressed, and to see how they chose to represent gender distinction, and then to conclude they were just a bunch of old timers, therefore none of that is relevant to us?
    Articles primarily change due to the change in culture, and culture tends to change because change in standards and beliefs. People today wear clothing articles with things such as OBEY, or who knows what else might be written in their clothing. Cuss words on clothing are common and culturally relevant in our day, does that mean we should go with what culture considers normal? No…. I would say it is ok for Christians to be wise and to be slower with the times. It is wiser for Christians not to just hop on every new thing and embrace it. It is wiser for Christians to be behind a little bit, because most times the winds of change are due to sinful men, rather than good men.
    Women wearing dresses and men wearing pants appears to be fairly consistent. When I see my wife twirling around in a dress I think of a beautiful flower….. every time I think of Feminine, I think of beauty. I think of gentleness. Surely, there is clothing out there that reflects at least to some extent, a beautiful, gentle, appearance. We describe things such as the mountains and call them strong or mighty! Sometimes we even call them proud…. We do we do these things? Because, we see things, and there are messages communicated with them. They are not merely our own opinion. There are consistent things you can see in creation, and in woman, that deliver messages of femininity or for men, masculinity. While many may reject this, they are subject to be changed with every wind of change.
    Might I add, more people have learned there is a difference in my wife, beyond clothing. They see overall, she is different. It even led to one girl accepting Christ as her Savior, because everything about her reflected a gentle, and kind Godly woman.

    Still waiting for one person to tell the whole truth & nothing but the truth. If you think the man in the video is right then there is no reason that Jesus will send Elijah before his second coming to quote "restore all things." Honestly just sitting in the middle of nowhere in the wilderness would tell me what a man is more than this video.
