It is incredible how much "grandeur" you can achieve in your paintings which a relatively simple approach and this shows how good you are. If I had a better financial situation now I would buy this painting, despite any mold.
Stop apologizing. there's no need for it. Your videos are great. Your tutelage makes it easy for all of us to understand what it is you're trying to convey.
Love the skies, landscape, the dialogue along the way and really like seeing the glazing taking place with its dramatic changes with comparatively little effort.
Hi Stuart, lovely landscape scenery with dramatic sky, as well as an interesting demonstration of glazes to enhance the colours underneath. It is a shame that this wonderful scene has been affected by mould. I am guessing that the paintings are stored in an area where there is an extreme cold spot? Hopefully this wintry icy cold weather will come to an end soon and the atmosphere starts to warm up for you. Thank you for the numerous lessons on glazing that you have often discussed in other video demos over the last three years or so. Take care now!
Hi Stuart! Greetings from Michigan. Can’t believe the quick, transformation of this painting when you began the glazing. When you added the bright white cloud in the right side then started in with the Japanese Red, I was like, “Wow!”, just beautiful. Amazing what these glazed can do. Thank you again for your wonderful lessons. I am a bit concerned about the possible mold issues in your home. I have histamine/mast cell issues which have made me increasingly sensitive to mold, dust, dander, etc. as I’ve gotten older. At the same time (late 50’s early 60s) I began to develop pronounced food intolerances. I couldn’t seem to eat ANYTHING that didn’t set off some kind off reaction. However, I finally found a prominent allergist/immunologist and rheumatologist to correctly diagnose and address my mystery symptoms and am now on medications which have helped me immensely. I recently hired a biochemist who specializes in air quality testing and, fortunately, he did not find anything worrisome, mold-wise, in our home. Just wondering if that not might possibly be a good idea for improving your health going forward. Anyway, sorry to ramble on! Hope you continue to feel well because we all enjoy your videos so much! ❤️
Hi Katherine, I had severe food intolerance for about 5 years before my heart problem started. When the heart problem arrived, the food problem stopped. I think the best solution for me is to live in a beach house, in a warm climate... I wish!
Just started watching your videos and I'm very excited to see someone who paints like I want to paint. I've already learned a lot. Looking forward to learning much more from you! Thanks so much.
You made me laugh out loud this morning. Thank you! (Like scrubbing the wall. You just need to know when to stop.) What you do in an hour or less is quite amazing.
Wow, it was absolutely very interesting and inspiring. The sky is super beautiful after glazing. These clouds, these colors attracted all my attention. I have to practice a lot, but if I can ever do something like that, I'm very happy. You are very talented artist, teacher and a great gift for all of us watching your videos. Thank you for being there! Many thanks!
You were wondering if you are being a bore, quite the contrary, I am learning so much , you are amazing, I have watched all your videos right to the end, Thank you for sharing all your secrets
Sir Patrick Stewart, a Star Trek icon forever. Also one of a smallish number of very talented, skilled Shakespearean actors of the last two centuries🙃. If you’ve become a Borg- artist, well then, you’re in good company. In all seriousness, this turned out quite good, & I find it an excellent tutorial /exercise in “loose” painting. Ty as always Professor🙂🙂
Dear Stuart, Many thanks for sharing your work and techniques with us. There's a depth of feeling in your landscapes that is simply captivating. Wishing you health.
Wondweful short video. I have many that need finishing, however too cold in the garage at the moment. And yes we do have a cat with her own room. Got a new dog last year and she moved in the spare room. Thanks as always
I get my Japanese Red at Gerstaecker. The have branch stores in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, France and GB. Just look it up online. Brilliant glazing! Very lovely painting. Thank you, Stuart
I could prevent mold in my paintings adding some rosemary oil ( it is a solvent) to the first lean paint layer, some people use tree balm oil but I prefer rosemary because it substitutes terpentine.
Wow, the end result is breathtaking, what a marvellous painting, shame about the mould and that you can't sell it! Thanks for sharing with us these glazing tips Stuart.
Oh my god! I am a huge fan of yours, but i am also a huge Trekkie. So you like Star Trek? Now i like you even more. Hehe. Thank you for your amazing videos.
It's amazing how we quickly the painting changed and became more interesting with the red and blue you added. And the clouds are awesome.. you make it look so easy. I've looked out a few of my photos and found a couple that would make super tonal paintings. So going to have a go as soon as I can get a couple of those flat brushes.
Wow! And I thought “glazing“ meant putting a clear coat of something on your painting…I have a long way to go on this journey…to learn. Thanks for sharing this awesome video!
👋Hi, Stuart, it is amazing how a few brushstrokes or the application of thin glazes can alter the appearance of a painting. I liked it before and after, maybe only the "spots of interest" changed a bit. Thank you for showing this lesson again, have a nice day.💖
The painting seemed perfect before you added the glazing yet once you added it it seemed to be even more perfect, eye-catching and quite strikingly lovely and lively. 😊 As far as the Japanese red goes it seems closer to burnt umber than vermilion in my paints.
OMG! This is just what I needed! I found one of my "large" old painting, not finished, in my garage and your video it is just what I need to save it! I was contemplating to paint some gesso on it and start a new..... because it is very large canvass and I did not wish to lose it. Thank you so very much I will start as soon this videos is finished! 🥰
Hello Stuart....I've watched your videos for many years and I've always wanted to ask, where do you get those broad "hake" brushes you use so often? I can't seem to find something similar anywhere. Thanks for any help you might provide.
Such a dramatic difference! Too bad about the mold. It's really beautiful. My cats also have their own room, by the way. lol Also, thank you for saying that about the "rules". I tend to use my fingers as much as a brush and anything goes as long as it gets the desired effect.
You have almost coverd the mold dods. When this layer is dry you could put a clear coat of oil paint so the painting is conserved. If that is the right word. Sorry my Englisch is not 100%. The pictures shows the real painting and it looks amazing. In de video a bit dull. It would be a shame if this painting gets lost in the near future :( Hope you have a nice day Stuart :D
@@StuartDavies Oh my goodness! That is scary. I get why she has her own room. Thanks so much for sharing your art, talent, and personal stories. They are invaluable.
16:20 Paper towel clouds! That turned out unexpectedly well! 😊
Love that Star Trek reference! I laughed out loud when you said that!
It is incredible how much "grandeur" you can achieve in your paintings which a relatively simple approach and this shows how good you are. If I had a better financial situation now I would buy this painting, despite any mold.
I guess i feel the same :)
Your skies and landscapes are so special, and brings emotion as well as William Turner's. 👏👏👏

Marvelous clouds, thank you for this masterful demonstration of the power of paper towels in the hands of the almighty painter
LOVE THE PAINTING! MIC IS A LOT BETTER!!
Love the skies, landscape, the dialogue along the way and really like seeing the glazing taking place with its dramatic changes with comparatively little effort.
I know I'm in the right place to see the best oil painting content to brighten my day 😀

Magical .!! Can’t believe the glazing made such a difference it’s Amazing .I would buy it even with the mould .🦋
Stuart I love your paintings and enjoy your banter it’s like watching a Tommy Cooper show “just like that”
Once again your painting is free flowing and adventurous as is your dialogue. Thanks from AUS.
Good glazing!! "make it so" Jean Luk
Good one!
I have been playing with glazes and this is a revelation. Mr. Davies, you have a new fan!

I am, i am , proudly, great tutorial and the sense of humor is a great bonus. Thank you, dear sir.
Maybe put a dehumidifier where you store your paintings?
That is what I do. Even nonelectric ones like Wenko where there is no outlet.

How did I miss this?! - “resistance is not futile” 😂 Thank you for another great video on glazing. Some of my fav moments during this stage! Cheers

You’ve gone and done it again - I now have an irresistible urge to go into the studio and make a mess!
Wonderful technique’ thank you for sharing this it can transform a painting’ for sure!
Another masterpiece demo with all the humour, thank you!!
Awesome sky!!

Really like the quick transformation of the sky, you make it look so easy with just a few swipes!

Definitely a Trekki!
Awesomeness 😊
Man he gets results!
My most-used red is Venetian Red now. It's gorgeous, incredibly pigment-dense so a little goes a very, very long way.
Wonderful

Bravissimo!
Fantastic ❤
Love your videos. I have linseed oil with a mould inhibitor in it. Will this cause trouble with my paints??
Love it, Stu. And it appears your microphone is upside down, going by the word 'RODE'. :o)
Thank you! The microphone is on the top of the device, so it needs to be upside down.
Köszönet a bemutatòért😊

Nice👍

Add Clove Oil to the oil you use fir your board your , it prevents mold growth.

Hello Stuart....I've watched your videos for many years and I've always wanted to ask, where do you get those broad "hake" brushes you use so often? I can't seem to find something similar anywhere. Thanks for any help you might provide.
They are just cheap decorating brushes. Bristle, not nylon.
Thank you very much Stuart. That's what I thought they looked like; what we call "chip brushes." I'll see what i can find. Be well.

When you use glazing, how do you keep the fat over lean rule ,in check!? Are you not worried with cracking of the paint!?🌿
And still a lot of beauty and life in your paintings!🌿🕊
I use paint very thinly and I make sure the first coat is completely dry, so there isn't any chance of cracking.
Ideas in action break out of the mould 😉
Our cats have an entire house. They are so kind enough to allow us to stay.
Same here, but she sleeps in her own room. Years ago one of my cats ran across my face while I slept and I needed stitches.
@@StuartDavies Oh my goodness! That is scary. I get why she has her own room. Thanks so much for sharing your art, talent, and personal stories. They are invaluable.
👍❤
Who are we kidding my cat has the whole house 😂
Mine too, but not at night. One of my cats ran across my face at night while I slept and I needed stitches to fix it.
Gosh claws 😳😞
Why is it necessary to glaze an oil painting??

Have you ever tried painting the same way with acrylics?
I have tried, but it doesn't work for me.
