Never played - nor either heard of this Commodore 64 game before. The first screen of this game reminds me of the Atari 2600 game, CHOPPER COMMAND, from Activision 😺👍🕹️. That Commodore 64 game looks so retrospectively cool, i could give a try 😺👍🕹️.
Woot I had the same thought while I was actually in the midst of cleaning and testing a Chopper Command cart, having this Cheeky Gamer vid was running on the side 😂 love it
Brilliant choice yes you had to be on target with that firing a very strange level geese( not the strangest on the commodore ) perseverance was rewarded shall be on this later great game again cheers
I always remembered this game being much longer when I was a kid... but you can rattle through it in about 5 minutes, so a great game for those who want to pick up and have a quick blast 😇🕹️👌
There were so many classics from the early years on the Commodore 64! Many will have slipped minds... glad these videos are bringing back some memories from those great times 😇🕹️👌
This looks interesting. It reminds me a bit of Blue Thunder for the C64... but a bit more advanced. When I saw that the balloons said "Firefly", I wondered if this company also made Firefly on the C64... but they did not. It seems Firefly was also released 3 years later, so I guess it was not referencing the game. Still... it looks kinda neat. I should give this a try sometime.
I thought the title said Choplifter, one of my favorite games of all time. Period. But I can't say I've ever heard of this one. Looks interesting and challenging though! Surprising that they made a version for the ill-fated Oric too. Maybe I'll fire this one up (and a round or two of Choplifter as well).
I love Choplifter too! Great game... all those early titles can be found on the 1982 playlist here ruclips.net/p/PL_TYjnCNYSewCxUOg3XE04vxpdaVzD7VX 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer It's pretty impressive how many great titles came out the same year the C64 was released. Choplifter is definitely one of them! [Just checked your playlist: Fort Apocalypse is another one of my favorites! If you ever find an original Radar Rat Race cartridge (also on that list), I suggest you dig a hole in the ground, plop it in there, set it on fire and then bury it in concrete before your ears start bleeding from that mind-numbing "soundtrack"...]
In Canada, dodging flocks of Canada geese is standard helicopter pilot training. I don't know what they train pilots in YOUR country for, but the skills needed to avoid these foul fowl come in handy when trying to find a clean spot on the park lawn to have a picnic. Why it is illegal in Canada to turn these birds into holiday meals, I will never know.
You're right there! I had loads of fun with 'Special Delivery: Santa's Christmas Chaos', over the holidays! The majority of Cretive Sparks' games were certainly very creative indeed! 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Taskmaster is also one I remember fondly! Kayak was interesting and novel, not to mention the early sandbox style game play of Mad Doctor... yeah, they were alright! Forgot to play Special Delivery this Chrimbo though!
Hmmm different styles but I know what you mean as the laser weapon shots certainly look 'defender-esque'. You can also check out defender here ruclips.net/video/TAGfoJlk0pQ/видео.htmlsi=IE1RUo9u10sSdVh7 😇🕹👌
Same as the original 82' game 'Choplifter'... I always wondered why they chose to go from right to left. A few other flying games did this too, like 'Kamikaze' by Codemasters. Strange 😇🕹️👌
The Geese & Hot Air Balloons are the main reason why I don't take my Chopper to & from work!
Haha yeah, they're lethal when in full flow! 😇🕹️👌
Halp halp, I can't get the 'Are you keeping up with the Commodore' jingle out of my head too catchy
Apologies! The jingle is all part of the allure... hehe 😇🕹️👌
Get to da chopper!!
GeT TO dA ChOPPAaaaaAAA!!! 😇🕹️👌

Definitely worth a try, quite addictive this one 😇🕹️👌
The perfect co-incidence! Love it 😇🕹️👌
Look at those graphics!❤❤❤❤
I remember when all games looked like this... very nostalgic indeed 😇🕹️👌
Get to da choppa
Get TO Da CHOPPPAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😇🕹️👌
Awesome commentary on this review.
Never played Chopper but this vid is a great seller.
Glad you enjoyed it! Get Chopper fired up -- it looks like a simple game, but for some reason it's very addictive! 😇🕹️👌
Think I bought this for £2 back in 1985. Infuriating, but still many hours of fun. Great video👍🏼
It also came as part of a pack in one of the Jackson Soft compilations! I'm still trying to track that down on ebay for my collection 😇🕹️👌

Nice to see the version for other computers! 👍🏻
Good game on the Oric too 😇🕹️👌
Never saw this one before, but it looks like it would have held my interest for at least a little while.
Definitely worth playing, ever just to experience it - short but sweet little game 😇🕹️👌
Another great game i'd forgotten about.

@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Thanks! I must be getting old! 😄

No relation I'm afraid... but it would be interesting to know what the 'firefly' references mean on the balloons, if anyone knows 😇🕹️👌

Cool video. That refueling scene is almost as bad as the one in Top Gun NES.
Now THAT was a tough section of the game! I remember seeing that one the AVGN channel 😇🕹️👌

In this country, pilot training focuses on dodging pigeons with big attitudes 😇🕹️👌
Never played this! Even though its by Creative Sparks who released some interesting games for sure. Will try it out now though.

Playing this game feels like reading in Hebrew.
Ahh reading from right to left I guess? 😇🕹️👌
Has some similarities to defender.

Get to the choppa. Seems unnatural going from right to left for a shoot em up, wonder why thy chose that direction.

Cool idea but looks way too hard for it to be feasible
Much easier than it looks, with practice... hardest bit is shooting through those damn gaps on the last mission 😇🕹️👌
