Mid 20's here - can say the same - growing up with Ghostbusters was great, and the movie was easily the most emotional one of 2021 for me, hit me hard again even watching the reaction here :D As for Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009 one, since there are a few different games in the series) - it literally had Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis on the writing team (ideas for third movie were added into story) and all of the original Ghostbusters actors playing their roles again :D
When I saw this on Blu Ray, I said to myself that if Harold Ramis (1944-2014) were alive, he would have been proud that the franchise is back to what it once was before.
It should be noted that Harold Ramis' daughter talked at length in her book that one of her last, treasured memories of her father was him crying laughing at Bridesmaids, that she hated hearing fans suggest that he would not have liked the 2016 movie, and that she felt it was disrespectful when fans tried to act like the movie was an insult to his memory. Maybe that's not what you meant, but in any case, I would like to think he would have appreciated both movies.
@@tylerfoster6267 but the 2016 one sucked, it wasn’t funny even in the least because the jokes were forced and the director didn’t seem to understand what makes Ghostbusters work as a film.
I cried when Egon's daughter saw the pictures in the basement and I cried like a baby the moment they showed him helping his granddaughter to the "For Harold" text. Me, my brother, and my mom used to pretend we were Ghostbusters when we were kids. They're the reason why I started loving to read, because the three of us would check out stacks of ghost/supernatural books at the local library and read them all.
One of the super subtle callbacks that I absolutely love is when Pheobe first finds the basement, she looks at a shelf full of glass jars full of mold...calling back to the first movie when Janine asks Egon if he has any hobbies and he replies "I collect spores, molds and fungus" 😭
Ivan Reitman directed the first 2 Ghostbuster movies. His son Jason Reitman directed this film with lots of help from Ivan. Ivan passed away less than 3 months after this was released.
I've seen this movie 3 times, and when Egon appears to help Phoebe, my eyes become Niagra Falls and i get a pit in my stomach but smile because it's so heartwarming. Rest in Peace Harold Ramis. Once of these days, you guys could react to the commentary tracks for this trilogy and other films, too. Also RiP Ivan Reitman
This movie is how a sequel for a movie from the 1980s should be done, lots of call backs without overdoing the nostalgia but also making it it's own identity. And the honoring of Harold Ramis, especially with his ghost helping his granddaughter was SO well done 😍. I loved it 🥰
I think one of the reasons it succeeds is not only because it was a good sequel, but just the overall style of writing and filmmaking was a throwback to 80s movies, where a bunch of curious kids get into some adventures and face real dangers. There is something about that formula that always connects (when it's done well).
There were a lot of critics against showing all of Egon rather than just hinting that it was him, but I thought it was just perfect. Have to fight back tears everytime I see it.
One of the little callbacks you may have missed is when Phoebe finds Egon's uniform and pulls out the Nestle Crunch bar. In the first Ghostbusters, Peter presents Egon with his favorite candy bar after Egon announces that due to his latest data set from the library ghost, they can capture and trap a ghost indefinitely.
This is one of my favourite films ever and they got absolutely everything spot on and right. I loved how they handled the whole Egon and Harold thing which was so tastefully, respectfully and beautifully done. McKenna Grace was quite simply outstanding in this film.
I went in expecting to hate this movie. I was all ready to be like "Oh god this is awful" The opening sequence even had me going "oh that was not good" Liked it quite a lot by the end. 7 out of 10 I'd say.
I love the way they incorporated Egon into the story, even though Harold Ramis had passed away. They could have taken the easy route and just written him out of the movie
The farmhouse was a complete set with both an exterior and interior, Adam Savage (of mythbusters fame) has done a tour of it and some of the props and it's incredible the level of detail. Jason Reitman also appeared in the start of Ghostbusters 2 as the a**hole kid at the birthday party
@@ruthmeow4262 Catherine Reitman has also appeared in her dad's work, "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia", "Black-ish" and her own series "Working Moms".
Definitely an excellent addition to the franchise they had a lot of time to work on it so I wasn't surprised. And I'm sure that everyone got teary at the end, a really great send off to a really iconic character and actor, they really didn't hold back on the emotional aspect. Much respect to Jason Reitmen for dedicating this to the late Harold Ramis. Additionally for those who didn't know Bob Gunton, the warden from Shawshank, played the old Egon Spengler at the beginning of the film. Great reaction Daniel and Samantha! 8/10
Epic reaction guys. This is my favorite since the original, it's funny, heartwarming and action-packed. Seeing the ogs together again gave me goosebumps, especially egon. The ending always gets me emotional. RIP to Harold Ramis, gone but never forgotten ever. 🙏❤
McKenna Grace was amazingly good in this. She already has so much range as an actor, she has played such completely different characters. AND she performed the end credits song for this movie!
Fun fact: this was directed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman (RIP) and he was also the kid in GB2 at the beginning telling them that they were full of crap.
This was a fantastic sequel to Ghostbusters i enjoyed the hell out of it and i would highly recommend to check The animated series extreme Ghostbusters from the 90s it's very underrated
Saw the movie when it came out in theaters and very much enjoy it. I thought i did a very good job of capturing the nostalgia of the original 2 movies and also did a great job in honoring the memory and legacy of Harold Ramos aka Egon.
In the theater, that ending made an entire room of grown men to cry... This movie was the most respectful thing for Harold Ramis ❤ Also LOVE they have a new cast for future sequels, that are great young actors, payrolled by Winston 😆
This was definitely the biggest pleasant surprise of 2021. As someone who saw the original in theaters in 1984 when I was 12, this one had such an emotional punch. All of the little easter eggs, the callbacks and that ending (I managed to hold it together until "For Harold"). It totally made up for that pointless, soulless reboot.
It's not only just paying homage to Harold Ramis, but the movie is saying Egon was the best Ghostbuster, he was the only one who continued to be one until his last days despite everyone else not believing him. He sacrificed his friends and family to save the world.
"That's the thanks he [Shandor] gets??" That was in fact an acknowledgement of the events from the video game, which is very much a continuation (and in many ways a culmination) of the first two movies. This sequel seriously ties into *everything* from the franchise. It is such a lovingly made tribute.
Ivan Reitman also directed Kindergarten Cop and Twins, as well as Junior. But one that he did that's a bit of a hidden gem is 2001's Evolution. It feels a little Ghostbuster-y; would recommend.
20:51 Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a classic. A deceased ghost catcher's grandchildren discover an underground mine is a sacred temple for an evil goddess that they're grandfather and his team once fought and saved the world from, and that evil goddess is returning to again destroy the world.
The soundtrack. They NAILED THE FRICKIN SOUNDTRACK. Phoebe was awesome. Gary was nice. The story was emotional, so 80´s... yet paying homage to the OG. Egon appearing at the end was the icing on the cake. Hoping for the sequel to this movie. It really deserves it.
41:17 Actually they did. The ghost whose eye pops out of his head from the around the corner is a ghost from the first wave of the toy line in 1986 called the Bug Eyed Ghost.
One thing I noticed is when Paul Rudd is buying Ice cream it's Baskin Robbins brand he gets. In Ant Man Rudd's character works for Baskin Robbins for a short time. Loved all the other references too. Such a good movie.
Just saw this for the first time a few weeks ago with my friends. A bunch of us ended up crying once Egon showed up and absolutely loved the movie. it's touching, a loving tribute to Harold Ramis, and a great sequel.
I swear... Samantha's "Hello!" is always so bright and chipper... I have to say it back, so on the rare occasions that I am not watching these alone... I'm looking like a wholeass moron, greeting my phone with a super sunny, "Hello!" Favorite part of each and every video
This film is continuity at its finest. The nostalgia works because the characters are actively rediscovering their world's own history. "Our Grandfather was a Ghostbuster."
Not gonna lie, the last 20min of this minute fcuked me up. I wasnt sure how, but I knew theyd find a way to bring HR back into the fold. I certainly wasnt prepared to see Him. I mean, it looked like older HR. And then the music that accompanied the moment he helped his granddaughter wield the protonpack...and then when he held his daugher to say goodbye. Niagara Falls, man. There wasnt a dry eye in the theater. Someone said, "Oh my God" out loud. It was magical. 32:53-33:04 same, Samantha, same🥺
Not only did i almost cry when Egon showed up i also got emotional when Peter, Ray and Winston showed up in full outfit. My childhood just came flooding right back at me at that moment.
The other stuff aside, one thing I appreciate about this movie is the treatment of Winston. He'd always been the least considered GB, and making him the one holding everything together was a great move.
The perfect sequal after all these years, so happy a new one is coming too. i was down with it when they said that Jason Reitman is doing it with guidance from Ivan Reitman and when they announced McKenna Grace was the lead i knew this was in safe hands acting wise. shes the biggest talent in hollywood right now, has been for years already despite her young age. The Family of Harold Ramis worked closely with the Filmmakers to get him right and to do his character justice and i believe Jason and Ivan Reitman said that if they wouldnt get the families apporoval of what they were planning, they would have just cancelled the movie in the planning stages. The moment his ghost hand appeared on Phoebes Protonpack my eyes immediatly teared up in the cinema and when he joined the original Ghostbusters Lineup one last time, i lost it and just cried.
I think you guys totally nailed it on your takjung about how effective their use of Harolds character in this movie, They really did such an amazing job paying tribute to him and the franchise in general. As soon as I saw the ghost hand on Pheobe's I knew exactly who it was going to be and I got a tug on the heartstrings as well.
The video game has been quote to pretty much be ghostbusters 3, using alot of what would have been in the movie when it fell through. It's fully voiced by the OG actors and is actually a good game.
Great film! As a huge Ghostbusters fan, the game from few years back is definitely part 3, with this being the 4th entry! But as a game designer/dev with friends/associates at the studio, illfonic’s new game that just came out (Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed) is considered part 5! While lighter on story, it features Ray and Winston, and starts IMMEDIATELY after the end credits scene of this movie. They are huge fans over there, and they did the series justice (from a story-light, but total fan appreciation standpoint) 🙂😊👻
I actually came here all this time later to mention this, extremely pleased to see it was already here! Didn't Aykroyd himself say it was 'essentially the third movie'? I was 47yrs old in 2009. But I had an xBox 360 (ex-racing driver using Forza as 'methadone'), so I bought the game, played it, and loved it. So for me, "Afterlife" is the 4th movie, too. I'll have to check out Illfonic's new one. On the film itself, I heard a lot of people complaining it was just fan service for GB fans. I just told them I * am * one, and I felt well-served.
Just a masterclass in how to do a sequel. Fan service, easter eggs, moves the story forward, honors the original, and brings closures to the story, the franchise, and the fans. The final tribute to Harold was just perfectly done.
As a life long GB fan of 30 + years, this movie delivered the goods. Definitely cried in the theater when Egon finally made his appearance. Glad Bill, Ernie and Dan made their presence known. Hopefully at least one of them shows up in the follow up.
Is it just me, but Paul Rudd taking Baskinn-Robins ice cream is such great joke... But man this is probably one the best films 2021 for me. Such good, hear warming farewell for Ramis and Egon.
One of the reasons this movie feels so much like the orignal two is because of the Director, Jason Reitman. He's the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two. You can see how well he mimiced his father's work so brilliantly. Oh...Samatha's jump scare was epic. Best scream ever.
Seeing this in theaters was probably the greatest moment in my life. I laughed and I was also brought to tears. The ending was truly special. I strongly believe Harold Ramis would have been proud. The greatest the moment was at the ending with the theme song played the entire audience sang along. I left the theater with a big smile. For one brief moment I got to relive my childhood. That was an experience that I will always cherish. My tagline for Afterlife is, "Ghostbusting is not just a job it's a calling."
This movie was absolutely fantastic. The story was awesome. The kids were great. Phoebe was my favorite character. Tear up every time Egon shows up on screen.
After I saw the film, which I really liked, I had an idea for the climax when Egon's ghost comes back and just thinking about it gave me goosebumps. They brought back Egon (Harold Ramis) very convincingly and so well and he didn't say a word. He probably didn't need to and maybe they didn't want to recreate Ramis' voice. However, if he had said anything I would'be had him say to the rest of old Ghostbusters: "See you on the other side, guys." That works as a callback to the original and it's hims saying he'll be reunited with his best friends (and family) in the afterlife. I think that could've been a great moment and totally a cry moment.
The very moment Egon's ghost came to assist his granddaughter Phoebe, and then standing side by side with his fellow Ghostbuster friends Stantz, Venkman, and Zeddemore was not only shocking, but saddening at the same time. BEST...MOMENT....EVER!!!! RIP Harold Ramis AKA Egon Spengler.😔🙏
You may not remember, but Ivo Shandor was mentioned in the original film as the architect of Dana apartment building, along with the selenium cores of the girders. I love how everyone just skips over the remake. It's not even in the box set. Meanwhile, this film is already getting a sequel. Hopefully the original cast shows up in that one, too.
I've watched it four times. Cried every time. And now that you mention it...who did find the body? I'm thinking Janine. She seems to be the only person who knew where he was
Great reactions, to an awesome movie. This film was an incredible tribute to the late actor Harold Ramis. And what an amazing performance from McKenna Grace as Phoebe.
One of the reasons this worked visually is that there was relatively minimal use of CGI outside of the obvious (Egon's ghost, the marshmallow minis, etc). The proton beams were hand-animated just like in the first 2 movies, and the terror dogs were real physical props that really could move. Mckenna Grace did an amazing job emulating Harold Ramis' mannerisms. That was a super impressive performance by a young actress. I'm happy that her, Podcast, Trevor, and Lucky are all confirmed back for the sequel (which started filming March of 2023 and is supposed to be out by the end of 2023).
It’s cool you mentioned refreshing your memories. Whenever you guys watch a sequel I usually go back and watch the reaction to the previous one, which I just did
I have said this many times.... to me (even the first time i saw it in cinema) Rays "Im sorry", Peters "I knew you would turn up" and Winstons "I should have called" wasnt said to Egons ghost. It was Dan, Bill and Ernie saying "Sorry Harold, we should have done this, while we had time."
The big important things to realize about this movie are that Harold Ramis died in 2014. He had sort of a falling out with the other guys, and they never really talked again for like 30 years. Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd wrote the original movies. Ivan Reitman directed the original movies. This movie was directed by Jason Reitman, Ivan's son. Jason was the original Ghostbusters fan. He grew up on the set of the original movies, and saw it all before the movies ever even came out in theaters. Jason also played the annoying little kid in Ghostbusters 2 who mocks the Ghostbusters at the birthday party. Jason Reitman is a pretty successful director in his own right, but as an indie movie director. This is the first big franchise movie that he ever made. And it's the only time he ever worked with his father. They made this movie together. This movie was done a year or two before it was released, but it was delayed in release due to the pandemic. A few months after Afterlife was released in theaters, earlier this year, Ivan Reitman himself passed away. Ivan Reitman is also the one who plays Egon in this movie - standing in for his old friend Harold, who passed away in 2014. So this movie is Jason Reitman's first and final project with his father, his way of honoring his father's work, their way of honoring Harold Ramis and the original Ghostbusters, and it ended up being a swan song for Ivan Reitman himself. This movie means a crazy amount more than anybody really expected it to. Every time I see the ending of this movie it punches me in the gut. I get the impression that Jason Reitman only really intended to make this one Ghostbusters movie. Because, like I said, he's more of an indie director and kind of likes to do his own thing. But this movie was obviously very successful, and Sony is a movie studio that can basically never get anything right, so this movie is kind of a miracle for them. They've also established Ghost Corps, kind of a whole branch of Sony Pictures dedicated to developing Ghostbusters. And Jason Reitman seems to now more or less be the head of it. As this ending implies, the Ghostbusters head back to New York City. Ghostbusters 4 has already been confirmed and announced with a release date that I believe is next Christmasish, and it's confirmed that it will take place in New York once again, and it's confirmed that Jason Reitman will return to direct. It seems that Jason has now embraced and adopted his father's legacy as his own to keep his father's legacy alive. I say all of that partially to emphasize the insane planet-sized solid steel balls that Jason and Ivan Reitman had in daring to resurrect Egon Spengler in this movie. It was playing with nuclear fire. It was a move so ready to go catastrophically horrifically wrong if they fucked it up even slightly. It would have been seen as horrifically disrespectful and it would have infuriated a PLANET full of Ghostbusters fans. The fact that they pulled it off so fucking perfectly and elegantly in a way that makes me cry every goddamn time I see this movie. And I've seen it like probably nine times now..... It's a miracle. It's something that SHOULD NOT work. The fact that they made it work somehow is mind-boggling. And, hell, let's not forget to recognize that this movie was carried almost entirely by a 13-year-old girl. Obviously, she was backed by a cast of Amazing side characters - Podcast, her brother, her mom, Paul Rudd, the original Ghostbusters, JK Simmons as Ivo Shandor, and Olivia Wilde as Gozer.... They were all amazing and perfect.... ....But McKenna Grace, as Phoebe, carried like 80% of this movie. When Paul Rudd and Podcast were around, and even a lot of times with her mom and brother, she was always the/a main character. She also wrote and performed the song that plays over the credits with the ghost in the haunted house. The movie was supposed to come out, but then it got delayed and during the delay she basically started a music career, and the song was so good that they went back and put it in the movie before it finally got released. So McKenna Grace is basically another miracle that this movie pulled off. Because child actors are pretty hit and miss as it is. But even the REALLY good ones can rarely carry something basically by themselves. As a side note, I think they just announced a new Ghostbusters animated series and a Ghostbusters animated movie at the same time that they announced Ghostbusters 4. So Ghost Corps seems to be going into overdrive now, and we are hopefully about to return to '80s levels of Ghostbusters goodness. It really cannot be overstated how much of a PHENOMENON Ghostbusters was. People do not understand how big the Ninja Turtles were in the 80s and early 90s. It was like the Beatles. It was like Pokémon. It was all consuming and everywhere. And to a only very very slightly lesser degree, so was Batman and so was Ghostbusters. The three of them basically ruled the late 80s and early 90s. But yeah, anyhow, if you want to watch the 2016 movie, I'm on board to watch your reaction. I don't hate it. I just wouldn't say it's particularly good. I also wouldn't say it's particularly bad. It's just kind of something that exists for some reason. An odd sort of waste of time. Kind of a glimpse into what Ghostbusters could have been if made by people who didn't really know what they were doing. A version of Ghostbusters made by people who weren't comedic geniuses. 🤷🏻♂️ Also, you are completely right that Ivo Shandor is played by JK Simmons, and yes, Gozer is played by an uncredited Olivia Wilde. It's absolutely wild to me that she's not credited for this.... Like...what? She's PERFECT. 🤷🏻♂️
Corrections: Harold only had a falling out with Bill Murray after they both worked on "Groundhog Day". Jason and Ivan's first collaboration as director and producer was the George Clooney dramedy, "Up In The Air". It earned some Oscar nominations. Their last collaboration was a short film called "Saving Simon" for the Apple IPhone.
I'm so glad you two enjoyed Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I saw this movie three times in the first two days. My girlfriend couldn't believe how good it was and she told me for hours heading home that I was right and thanked me for taking her to see it. I was looking forward to this movie ever since my mother took me to see Ghostbusters II but we never got a third movie for so many years. At the time the 2009 video game was our third movie that then continued into the IDW Publishing comic books but now that story isn't cannon anymore but it's still really good. I highly recommend playing Ghostbusters The Video Game from 2009.
That Ghostbusters game was created from the script that was originally supposed to be a third movie. I haven't played it since it first came out in 2009, so I don't know whether it is technically still canon now that this film is out... but I do remember thinking it was really fu@#ing good at the time.
I honestly think this is a worthy sequel, sure it has a bunch of fan service, but it’s done well, it isn’t just there alone, it serves a purpose in this story, and it adds something new. Oh and the ending is perfect in every way. Great movie.
This sequel is such a moving tribute to Harold Ramis, and now to a lesser extent, Ivan Reitman. I absolutely love this film, and everything in it is a callback to the original. I truly hope that another sequel is going to happen.

This is one of my favourite films ever and they got absolutely everything spot on and right. I loved how they handled the whole Egon and Harold thing which was so tastefully, respectfully and beautifully done. McKenna Grace was quite simply outstanding in this film.
Watched this movie numerous times and yet that ending gets the tears flowing every time.
I enjoyed this movie, and especially it paying tribute to the delightful Harold Ramis, RIP.
as far as inserting the likenesses of actors that have passed into new films, i thought this was a pretty classy and respectful way of doing so..
I went in expecting to hate this movie.
I was all ready to be like "Oh god this is awful"
The opening sequence even had me going "oh that was not good"
Liked it quite a lot by the end. 7 out of 10 I'd say.
@@ArlanKels Really?
I love the way they incorporated Egon into the story, even though Harold Ramis had passed away. They could have taken the easy route and just written him out of the movie
The farmhouse was a complete set with both an exterior and interior, Adam Savage (of mythbusters fame) has done a tour of it and some of the props and it's incredible the level of detail.
Jason Reitman also appeared in the start of Ghostbusters 2 as the a**hole kid at the birthday party
His sister was the girl with the puppy.
@@ruthmeow4262 Catherine Reitman has also appeared in her dad's work, "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia", "Black-ish" and her own series "Working Moms".
McKenna Grace was fantastic, her delivery on the bad dad jokes was awesome
Definitely an excellent addition to the franchise they had a lot of time to work on it so I wasn't surprised. And I'm sure that everyone got teary at the end, a really great send off to a really iconic character and actor, they really didn't hold back on the emotional aspect. Much respect to Jason Reitmen for dedicating this to the late Harold Ramis. Additionally for those who didn't know Bob Gunton, the warden from Shawshank, played the old Egon Spengler at the beginning of the film. Great reaction Daniel and Samantha! 8/10
The end credit got me hoping they'll bring in some of the cartoon villains.
No, it's not...it's very beloved. Why do people call every single thing underrated?
Saw the movie when it came out in theaters and very much enjoy it. I thought i did a very good job of capturing the nostalgia of the original 2 movies and also did a great job in honoring the memory and legacy of Harold Ramos aka Egon.
In the theater, that ending made an entire room of grown men to cry...
This movie was the most respectful thing for Harold Ramis ❤
Also LOVE they have a new cast for future sequels, that are great young actors, payrolled by Winston 😆
Total clapback for how Shandor treated Gozer in the video game.
Pretty excited about this one, y'all are awesome. Hands down the best movie and episodic show reaction Channel on RUclips.
My daughter's favorite too. She loves Sam and has probably watched the Arachnophobia reaction 100x just to see poor TBR suffer like I do.
Ivan Reitman also directed Kindergarten Cop and Twins, as well as Junior. But one that he did that's a bit of a hidden gem is 2001's Evolution. It feels a little Ghostbuster-y; would recommend.
Evolution is such a fun film!
20:51 Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a classic.
A deceased ghost catcher's grandchildren discover an underground mine is a sacred temple for an evil goddess that they're grandfather and his team once fought and saved the world from, and that evil goddess is returning to again destroy the world.
Good timing to upload this. I really enjoyed this as it had a really cool story and characters and your emotional response was endearing.
When Venkman says “Hey FlatTop!” I get feral inside
And him reading an Avengers comic book in class.
Original is my age\generation. Definitely got choked up during the last sequence. RIP, Harold!👍💪🍷🚬💀💕💕💕
Just saw this for the first time a few weeks ago with my friends. A bunch of us ended up crying once Egon showed up and absolutely loved the movie. it's touching, a loving tribute to Harold Ramis, and a great sequel.
First. When some asks you if you're a God, you SAY YES
Phoebe is truly her grandfather's grandchild. She has most of his personality traits from his intelligence and dry sense of humor to his *temper.*
I swear... Samantha's "Hello!" is always so bright and chipper... I have to say it back, so on the rare occasions that I am not watching these alone... I'm looking like a wholeass moron, greeting my phone with a super sunny, "Hello!"
Favorite part of each and every video
This film is continuity at its finest. The nostalgia works because the characters are actively rediscovering their world's own history. "Our Grandfather was a Ghostbuster."
I can watch saving Private Ryan no problem, but the scene we’re all for Ghostbusters are together again brings me to tears every time!
@UCQp5qI1KS1MPRsXstlQP26w nope. Sorry scammer!
First movie I saw in the theaters since covid.
Legit really good
As a kid, from the movies, but also “The REAL Ghostbusters” cartoon, Egon was the first in my life to make the smart nerd be so cool 🥲☺️
The after credit scene with Jennine and Winston hints at a sequel. And currently it is scheduled for premiere in December of next year .
I cry every time Egon shows up at the end. What a great ending to the story. One of my favorite franchises from my childhood. Love the reaction!
Paul Rudd is a gem
The video game has been quote to pretty much be ghostbusters 3, using alot of what would have been in the movie when it fell through. It's fully voiced by the OG actors and is actually a good game.
7:55, yeah, the Terror Dogs, Zuul and Vinz Clortho.
The girl who played Phoebe is also a talented singer and she sang the song during the end credits.
Such a wonderful successor to Ghostbusters 1 & 2. It was fun, dropped many nods to the original and definitely makes me tear up every time I watch it.
I cried in my reaction to this and that FSH joke gave me a bellyache laughing. I loved this movie
Just a masterclass in how to do a sequel. Fan service, easter eggs, moves the story forward, honors the original, and brings closures to the story, the franchise, and the fans. The final tribute to Harold was just perfectly done.
They made the soundtrack match the style of the first movies too which really helped give the same feel to it.
This reaction made my night. Thanks guys! 😊
FINALLY YOU GUYS ARE WATCHING THIS MOVIE. THIS IS 3RD ONE WE WANTED BABY AND IS HERE EVERYBODY. WHO GONNA CALL??? GHOSTBUSTERS🔥🔥🔥👻👻❤❤❤
3:15, yes it was. A fan favorite character.
This movie was absolutely fantastic. The story was awesome. The kids were great. Phoebe was my favorite character.
Tear up every time Egon shows up on screen.
I miss Harold Ramis.
I hadn't planned to watch any of the newer Ghostbusters, but watching this convinced me. Great reaction as usual.
Everyone else is talking about the tearjerking ending, understandably, but how about your reactions to the little marshmallow man in the blender? 🤣
Great reaction, guys!! Our Halloween evening consisted of Nightmare Before Christmas followed by your awesome Ghostbusters reaction :)
This is how you continue a franchise. Sure there was some fan service but I felt it paid respect to the OG while doing it's own thing.
Once in a while we are blessed with a movie that pays true tribute to a lost actor CORRECTLY. This movie was absolutely PERFECT.
I've watched it four times. Cried every time. And now that you mention it...who did find the body? I'm thinking Janine. She seems to be the only person who knew where he was
They made a Ghostbusters video game in 2009. With the same cast Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis & Ernie Hudson.
There are several references from the video game in GB: Afterlife 😉👍
Whenever you guys watch a sequel I usually go back and watch the reaction to the previous one, which I just did
I cried my eyes out at the end of the movie. Phoebe has joined Egon and Winston as one of my favorite Ghostbusters.
Recommendation for you to react: The Hills Have Eyes (2006), spooky movie.
When Egon's ghost evaporates to the sky, if you look closely you'll see the Ghostbusters symbol.
🤷🏻♂️
Also, you are completely right that Ivo Shandor is played by JK Simmons, and yes, Gozer is played by an uncredited Olivia Wilde.
It's absolutely wild to me that she's not credited for this....
Like...what?
She's PERFECT.
🤷🏻♂️
To be clear, Ivan stood in for Harold one time. Most of the performance is Bob Gunton, who played the warden in Shawshank Redemption.
An excellent film that may have focussed on the kids but isn't a kids' movie. This was 100% made for the OG fans.
7:49, yes just like the first two films.
This sequel is such a moving tribute to Harold Ramis, and now to a lesser extent, Ivan Reitman. I absolutely love this film, and everything in it is a callback to the original. I truly hope that another sequel is going to happen.
