Oh, wow, this is my all time favourite spot in Virginia. It always reminds me of Williamsburg before Rockefeller got hold of it. I've lost count of the times in the past 40 years or so I've paused on a trip up north or back south to just wander around and see what, if anything, has been done to the old houses. Last couple of times I stopped in I saw some signs of restoration and repair to some of the places, so things are looking up for little old Port Royal! Thanks for spotlighting such a wonderful and unspoiled bit of Virginia history!
We pass Port Royal every time we head down home in southern Virginia. Thanks for posting this. We'll have to stop next time to look around. I hope they will be able to restore these historic treasures.

With so much great history that town has to offer, I really hope those wonderful old houses can be restored to their former grand appearance.

There used to be a house with a bunch of cats 🐈
One of them used to have a lawnmower in the back. Another had some garden hoses 😂
The house is still there, but I haven't seen any cats recently. Used to see them all the time whenever I'd stop in on my way north or south.
The dock must have been destroyed by a storm within the past year or so.
