I love the fact that a Rav4 Prime, the pioneer-ish of the SUV combo, was in the test video for a while. We loved ours, thus we cannot wait for our allocation of a TX 550h+.

We’re about to get our TX in about 2 days and we’re very excited. We have tried everything in this segment and nothing combines the space, interior quality, luxury and MPG’s the way the TX does. The QX60 was really nice but much smaller than the TX, closer in size to the regular Highlander. Same for the MDX, drove slightly sportier but it’s much smaller, doesn’t offer the same MPG and the tech was very frustrating to use to put it nicely, the XT6 was just disappointing, it was old, slow, very cramped, horrible tech, it just wasn’t the mini-Escalade we were promised, and then there was the XC90, more luxurious than the TX, had even more power, wasn’t quite as efficient and the 4cylinder didn’t sound as good or as smooth as the V6, but ultimately it was much smaller on the inside and the tech was starting to feel old. ultimately we settled on a TX500h F-Sport Luxury we really wanted the plug in system but Lexus doesn’t offer the Pano roof for some reason when you get up to the 550h+. Hopefully that is changed soon.

It likely has remote start as Toyota has a sequence of key presses to execute. My 2020 Corolla has it so I’m guessing the Grand Highlander would too. You press the lock button three times at a brisk pace and on the third press, hold until the lights flash a couple of times. It will run the car for ten minutes then shutoff again. The timing can take a little practice but once you get it, it’s easy.

One thing I am wondering about is if this has a "room" mode where HVAC works over an extended period of time with the other functions of the car being off. It may make a great camping vehicle with all that cargo space if it did. Also, can the 120V 1500W outlet be used when the car is off, or in a way that it would cycle the gas engine on and off to keep the battery sufficiently charged. If so it would make a great generator to power a backup home window AC etc when the home power is out.
