    Great report.
It's important to show these reports every few years cuz they don't teach what corporations are capable of in school.

We moved in at lots 318 and 320 Lakeside drive in 1973 and left in 1983... Played 'army' around those ponds. Got an old aluminum saucer sled out of one. Played in the creek nearby where the chemicals overflowed. My Parents made COFFEE from that damn water. I sometimes had breathing issues after rainy days there. Never can forget that smell and the broken oily surface scum on the ponds... just saw this video on 8/4/21

      Jeesh.
      Sorry.
Unfortunately these same scenarios play out all over the nation.
Thats why cancer and poor immune health is going up.
They (government and industry) downplay the reality that we are CONtaminated.
This Industrial Machine/modern lifestyle will kill millions long before their natural life expectancy.
I see it daily- 20, 30, 40 year olds with all types of cancers.
      What a shame.
Many housing developments are built right on top of these toxic waste dumps

Was the area north of you towards the rail? And did Baron road go all the way to Route 40 back then?

I moved here around 10 years ago & just recently heard that lakeside used to be a literal dump. I tried looking it up to see if that were true & I don’t even care if it was a dump anymore! WOW! I’m mainly curious as to where these ponds & barrels were.
Were the ponds in the woods behind the park (behind the houses on chaplagne “up the hill”) or were they closer to the Nazarene camp? I vaguely remember there being a pond there & always thinking something horrible happened at that creepy place & that’s why it was fenced in the way it was. (It’s an Amazon like warehouse now, can’t think of the company’s name). Could yu shed some light?

@@hansenhollla6705so the dump site was on the hill in the spot between Champlain drive and that court up on the right, there’s was a weird circle of trees the Montgomery brothers I think owned the land, they put a clay cap over it, there were trees starting to grow there back in the nineties, e were afraid the roots would burst through the clay cap, I’ve lost track of it since, but I remember it, I lived in superior court I sat in my grandmothers window watching them cleaning it up, there were so many drums, my mother took a lot of pictures then

Thank the DuPont company for this disaster. This trailer park is called “Lakeside” and it’s is a cesspool of crime and proud ignorance.

About 40 different companies were identified as “Potentially Responsible Parties” by the EPA, with multiple lawsuits and settlements following. AFAICT they all settled and are covering the costs of cleanup.
DuPont is evil, for sure, but they’re hardly the only ones responsible here.

The description has a link to the EPA records for the site. As of September 2021, the majority of cleanup work had been completed. What’s still in progress is cleaning up the groundwater: two different injections into the groundwater with oxidation agents (which broke down the contamination by about 93%) and bio-remediation agents (basically bacteria that eat the contamination) have been done, and a groundwater treatment system is constantly pumping out and treating water to clean up whatever is left.
A five-year review will happen in 2026 to evaluate how the cleanup has progressed and plan for the next 5-year period - most likely continuing the ground water cleaning until nothing is detected.
Over 40 responsible parties have been identified, and they are the ones paying for the cleanup.

Everyone was perfectly fine because back then radiation was considered safe and clean duh. Before safety and regs were created
