  • Superfund sites: Toxic chemicals and massive sites of pollution that can sit for years on years while companies and the government battle over responsibility. While they are in the courtroom, damages to the environment and human health in the surrounding areas of the site suffer. Where are these Superfund sites, and what is being done about them?

There comes a point where throwing something away really does not mean 'away' It ends up someplace and at someone else's backyard.

Nothing more frustrating than being the consultant for a company who wants to go out of their way to do everything the wrong way

Can you name the contractor/company? So we don't make a mistake of working with them?

If you stay at a company that makes these devastating choices, you suck. You compromised your morals for money. Nobody thinks you're the good guy.

This is so well made. Shame that there aren't more views.
Just read about the Colonia High School cancer cluster, and then onto Tom's River, and now I'm here. I hope this brings some awareness to the cries for help from everybody affected. :-(

    Greetings from Oshawa Canada......
As member of the disgusting generation responsible for this destruction I say God Bless you young people. Mother Earth needs you. I can only speak for myself but as a lifelong DEVO fan I'm aware of the mess we've left behind. I remember Love Canal.

It's not us. This is what people need to understand. We're victims. We're slaves. We're being poisoned. All we can do is turn to God and beg Him to make it stop.

I can remember being a kid walking with my grandpa and him showing me toxic barrels of hexavalent chromium out at Spencer Park in Belvidere IL we always stayed far away but you could see the chemicals on the ground and leaking from the barrels and there was nothing but sand all the plants and animals were gone from the aera it has since been cleaned up but in some areas the earth is still scared to this day and it's all fenced off for safety

Found this after looking into the recent disaster in Ohio and man, it's chilling when the expert mentions chlorine as one of the worst possible contaminates

That's kind of where I started too. I was looking into purchasing a gorgeous property with irrigation shares. Then I saw the railroad. After finding out who owned it, and who owned them, and who owned those owners, it all went back to blackrock and vanguard. Then I thought, well, maybe it's not hazardous waste. I followed the tracks upstream, up the mountain, and there I found the cotter corporation's superfund site for radioactive groundwater contamination. I'm devastated that this keeps happening. We are living in a sort of hell, where we have little to no control over what they do to us.

What would a mass dumping of diethyltoluamide have any sort of lasting environmental/human health consequences? I know that the EPA has been cracking down on how much DEET can be legally distributed to bug spray manufacturers.

I think we're in hell. Something is very wrong here. A corporation chooses to make money creating nuclear bombs for a war I don't even want us to fight, and when their waste ponds leak into the soil and the water, and the corporation ditches the site, I have to pay to clean it up, and I'm the one who's sick because I lIve downstream, down the mountain, from the site. Now the corporation is back in my state operating as usual, making new bombs, even though they never cleaned up their last mess. THIS IS HELL.

Shit, there are numerous Superfund sites in Massachusetts. I was a newspaper reporter based on the South Shore from 2004-2006, and I covered the Baird & McGuire Superfund site at 775 South St, Holbrook, MA 02343.

I'm paying for this. I didn't want that nuclear bomb factory up the hill from my irrigated property, I didn't want it to make me, my friends, and my family sick, I didn't want those bombs to kill people with, but I'll be the one paying to clean it up. We really need to wake up to our controllers. Smh
