This is not first video quality. I genuinely thought I was watching someone who had been on RUclips for at least a few years. Can’t wait to see what you do with this channel!
this is so easy, i didn't jump once while playing celeste. i stayed firmly seated in my chair the whole time. (Great video btw, can't wait to see what you do in the future)
A very interesting challenge, but I personally feel the time limit detracts from the quality of the video. The story of facing the problem, even an arbitrary one, and solving it is what makes video game challenges more interesting for me. I feel it would have been much more interesting if you placed more restrictions on yourself to show of more of the game tech. A challenge that is barely possible and requires tons of cool tricks is more interesting than a more straightforward challenge that you barely make it through. If you want to keep the time limit, you could give yourself a stricter time and unlimited attempts, so then maybe you'd have to innovate the techniques you are using to pull it off quickly or consistently enough.
You know I just think he tried to go fast while not being able to jump and the elimination times where just added later, it would make sense on why the timers are always so close and how he does them first try every time
What a great video! I hope this gets more attention I'm excited to see your next videos! Also, just finished this game literally 20 minutes ago, so this is perfect timing haha.
Holy shit I adore this. Not only did you make your own challenge, but you then added limiters to make it more difficult in what had the potential to be a very easy challenge in certain sections, and THEN you added more limiters to make it more difficult and creative. This is the type of stuff DougDoug does and for you to be doing this for your first vid is just mind blowing.
THIS IS A NEW RUclipsR??? the gameplay skill, entertainment value, awesome commentary, useful explanations and the great editing made me thinking I was watching an experienced Celeste youtuber! Amazing video! I don’t even play Celeste but I watched this whole video (looking forward to smash bros and Mario). Subbed
I just want to say this is such a breath of fresh air from other challenge videos! Most others fall into the same cycle of "This part was pretty hard, so I just kept trying and I eventually did it." They are always so uninteresting cause there's no stakes and they just use the same trick(s) through the whole thing to circumvent their limitations. But this is so much better! The addition of the strict speedrun timer with the potential for a run-ending failure in every level really kept me engaged throughout the whole video! Not to mention you're actually incredibly good at celeste, some of the tricks you performed in this video were impressive and your explanations of some of the more advanced tricks was nice! Editing was also very clean, especially for your first video. Keep up the good work!!
This video is absolutely great, but I personally would like to admire how you notate the songs you used with timestamps! it is super awesome and convenient. hats off to you :) cant wait to see more from you!
I love this editing style! So entertaining, thank you for these banger videos! A tip: press down to fast fall, speedier falling You can also map a down+confirm binding by making one key do both to skip cutscenes faster At 3:46 you can cornerkick. Also, I agree. Speedruns of Huge Mess are always very easy. Probably even easier than Prologue.
From watching a lot of videos about this challenge I think the minimum amount of jumps to beat Celeste is 3, since there're two in prologue and then 1 one in checkpoint 8 of summit
Just wait for like 188 something hours, then the spinner collision stops responding, meaning if you had no time limit, you could probably grab on to the wall with the spinners at checkpoint 8, and beat the the challenge!
This is quite possibly the single best and most high-quality first video on a channel Ihave ever seen. You’ve earned all the attention you got from this. I’m gonna just go ahead and subscribe because if I can expect this quality of videos from now on, I’ll have a great time watching you grow as a channel. Good luck!
I actually did a jumpless fullclear playthrough a few months ago! At the time, I wasn't aware of Extended Variants disabling jumping via 0x coyote time, so I did count some things (dream blocks) wrong, but any% requires three jumps - two in the prologue (regular grounded jumps) and a cloud bounce in chapter 7. If anyone's curious, the minimum for 100% is 163/166 depending on if you count certain things, though again, I didn't count dream jumps. Off the top of my head that probably boosts it somewhere in the 170s-180s including 2B, 7B, and Farewell.
Genuinely great video man, I expected to look down and see at least 300k views on this video and was shocked when it under 30k. Can't wait to see what you do next
celeste but i cant jump: "In this room, my dash doesnt get enough height to reach the wall above me, but it is possible to grab the side of the platform i was standing on and WALL JUMP" 📸 📸 📸 he jumped
One thing I'd like to mention, the "wallboost" that you mentioned is actually a completely different tech, the thing you were doing is called a wallbounce but wallboosts are a thing that exists, they are just significantly more complicated and can't be done on spike walls since it requires a climbjump.
This challenge is now possible with spinner stunning, a glitch that exploits the way spinners load. if you pause very quickly and precisely the hitbox for 1/3rd of the spinners doesn't load for 1 frame at a time. it's not humanly possible afaik, BUT you can also use a similar glitch that exploits floating point errors at high values, so if you leave the game open for a few hours, 2/3rds of the spinners will permanently unload, making it possible to beat flag 8 in 7a and flag 13 in 7b.
One thing that would’ve helped on a lot of the difficult jumps. Standing on the far side of the ledge/platform and dashing straight off it so you get more distance than walking off but regain your dash so you can dash up
I couldn't believe I found such awesome content, this early on in the channel! Hope you do well, quality deserves it. This video completely subverts the idea that *of course it has to be beaten* and shows a honest attempt. Love it!
Holy damn, extremely good quality for such a new and small channel. I'm not a person to subscribe fast, but you got my sub mate. Hope you'll get a lot more exposure. And remember meeeeee! XD
Here before 1000 subs lol Edit: when you said this channel was new i was so confused XD i hope you keep going and your so close to 1k! So your close to start making money!
i love this video buddy. I was so shocked when you said "hey pls support me this is a very new channel", i said mentally "yeah dude you probably have like 100k followers" and then i checked and ??? dud ewhat???
Very nice video & a fun challenge! I figured as an up & coming RUclips you might appreciate some constructive criticism :) Firstly the challenge is perfect, unique and simple enough to understand. The speedrunning twist is also nice and builds excitement, however the times seem a bit arbitrary - in the future I would add some sort of logic, like for example the time the normal speedrun takes x10 or whatever is reasonable. Secondly, the ending is a bit unsatisfying. I know that you can't magically make the jump on 7A or 7B possible but I think it would have been nice to at least keep going until the end of either chapter and see if the rest of the rooms are possible, and if not how many jumps are minimally needed to beat the game. Lastly, and I'm getting nitpicky here, but especially as a new content creator the thumbnail should stick out a bit more. Especially the text should ideally stick out a bit more, by adding some contrast and changing the color for example. Overall I definitely enjoyed the video though, just thought I would write down some tips if you plan on taking this RUclips thing seriously, which it seems like you are! :) PS: As someone who just managed to collect the 7B golden after months of grinding, some of those screens really gave me PTSD hahaha
@@Hueish This is insane quality for a first video. My only gripes were you skipping over chapter 5 which is my favorite chapter (narratively at least) and that you didnt at least continue the run at the end to see if the rest of bside could be done jumpless.
Only for school projects lmao. It took me almost a month of teaching myself everything I needed and 3 drafts before the video you see here was uploaded
I have seen a lot of really cringe first videos, but this was really well put together! You have earned yourself a sub, and I look forward to watching more of your content!
There's a technique to make this way easier: Instead of doing the demo cornergrab, most of the time you can dash on the ground, recover your dash, and then dash upwards. Similar to an extended super/hyper, but without the jump.
You are 100% right (I assume ur talking about the 3a section). I hadn't figured this out at this point, and didn't start doing this trick until past chapter 5
wallboost is different to wallbounce. Wallboost is a climbjump direction change within 11 frames of the jump where as wallbounce is a jump-cancelled up-dash
Great video although i must point out that there is a glitch witch deloads all blue and red spikes in a chapter. for the glitch you have to either perform pauses in every single frame (TAS only) or wait for about 3-4 days to just be able to pass through 2/3 of all spinners. this would help in 7a to pass the impossible 8th checkpoint.
Very well done video and was fun to watch! the only slightly annoying thing was your own timelimits you set for yourself. They felt fake, like you added them after you finished the run. I'm sure you didn't, but they felt that way. But really enjoyed the vid!
@Hueish it's actually possible to do 7a flag 8 without ground jump!! If you wait 118 hours, the spinners (crystal spikes) that are blocking you actually unload and you can pass through them.
This is my first ever video I've made with the express purpose of uploading to youtube. The only other videos I've made were all for school projects or were just for fun with friends!

I concur
agreed
@DarkCoreX speedruns don't have time limits, it's just how low can you get the timer
yeah i agree completely
Which is not how speedrunning is usually done at all. Endlessly retrying till yiu get it right is like the core of speedrunning.
You know I just think he tried to go fast while not being able to jump and the elimination times where just added later, it would make sense on why the timers are always so close and how he does them first try every time
Yeah it makes no sense why he'd give himself less time for Chapter 4 than for Chapter 3 unless he knew ahead of time the Clouds wouldn't be a problem
Oh my with that editing and skill I can see this going into some people's recommended sections, I hope it does because holy crap this was entertaining
