  • On Tuesday, January 17th 2023,
    R211A cars (4060-4069) were sent out of Coney Island Yard to undergo AAS tests with single door operations. For this test, The train is simulating all sorts of unusual scenarios to test how the AAS system reacts. Around 10:30pm, the R211A was sent on the yard lead out of Coney Island Yard, where it went up to the Jay street - Metro Tech station in Brooklyn, and afterwards switching along the 8th Avenue Line making local simulation stops upwards to the Inwood - 207th Street station in Manhattan. From the Inwood 207th Street Station, the R211A cars tested down the 8th avenue line, making all simulation stops to the Far Rockaway - Mott Avenue station in Queens. From Far Rockaway, the set tested upwards back into upper Manhattan where it was taken out of service and deadheaded back down to the Coney Island Yard in Brooklyn, where testing was completed for the night.

    Wow, all these tests non stop since 2021 and yet hasn't failed any of them. These will turn out to be long lasting and good trains. Amazing video though, didn't even know this test was a thing until I ran into this video

      The MTA on the reporter preview ride mentioned that testing is going really well and will be at least 3x more reliable than any of the trains in the system. The R160A/B are already very reliable, so that is very good news.

      The end of the month, early March, from what I've been hearing.
      Just short of 2 years worth of testing.
      I'm figuring that they pressed the issue because of the supply chain issues, making sure the train is reliable.
      Second, the 211t won't be testing as long, since any corrections needed were already worked on at the factory via correspondence.
      So with these, Im looking at the fall.
      October perhaps.
      By this time,we should have plenty of R211As in rotation.if the schedule is kept,of about 20 to 30 cars monthly.
      It's a waiting game now.

    Wow, the "stand clear of the closing doors please" announcement is louder on the R211 compared to the other NYC Subway trains. It's like the announcement is playing through the external speakers instead of the internal speakers.

    Will r262 also have closed gangways trains?.

    • @leecornwell5632
      @leecornwell5632 5 месяцев назад

      Yes. The R262As will definitely have the close ways. 549 R262s will definitely have the open gangways just like the C lines. The R262s is not gonna be 100 percent open gangways because I have a real spriital feeling they are definitely gonna have the R262As end ways I'm telling you. The R262As could definitely run on the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line to replace the R12S R14s. If Governor LaGuardia and Robert mosses would of kept the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line going they would of definitely put the R37s on the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line if they would have not tairing down the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line down and the R62AS would of definitely replacing the R12S R14s right now just like they had the R62AS on the 1 3 6 S and R62S on the 4 Jerome Ave line back in the 80s and 90s . The R62AS R62S got replace by the R12 R14s R21S R22s R15S R17S.

      The R46S is definitely gonna be off the A C lines when they get all the R211Ts On the C lines and the R211As and the R179s for CBTCS on the A C lines in 2025 . However we might see some R46S on the B D trains and the N W Q lines mix equipments R68S R68AS and the R46S. The R46S is gonna be here for Adleast two or three years. I'm just letting you know that right now. After all the R211As on the A R211Ts open gateways on the C lines and the R179s the R46S is gonna be definitely taking off on the A C lines for CBTCS. Just like they did on the Pelham 6 line taking off the R142As off the Pelham 6 line and the R62AS back on the Pelham 6 line got replace by the R142As .
