    Your understanding of what sounds good contextually and ability to apply a fundamental knowledge of synthesis to arrive at that specific sound is impeccable. I always enjoy your videos. Even if I may not have the synth you're using in a video I always stick around because I will undoubtedly learn something new. You're concise and informative when you explain the what, why, & how of a patch. Aside from that I just really admire the way your patches sound, they always sound familiar in a way. If this comment wasn't evident enough, let me just say that I think you and your channel here on youtube are incredibly cool.
    If I wasn't broke all the damn time I would be buying your preset packs because I can hear so much utility in every patch you make dude. Keep on doing your thing man, your contributions are appreciated by many in the music making and synth community.

    Thank you for these great tips. Diva is not the most user friendly synthesizer, so your help is very much appreciated. Personally I found your best tip the one of additive manual modulation (which is a generic technique). I'll have a look if that is possible in Bitwig as well.
    Cheers from Belgium!

    Great tips! Another tip I have for all Diva users is to check out the Aiko and especially the new Mona skins for Diva from Plugmon. They make Diva look and feel like a brand new synth, add functionality (like Massive-style modulation assignment and adjustment), and put all the main controls on one page.

    Great vidjayo, thanks for this. I do have one question - correct me if I misunderstood you but, early on in the video while addressing the envelopes and that you choose either analog or digital, it sounded like you said that after years of working with serum you had found not having control over release time very frustrating. Each of the three envelopes has its own AHDSR section. Further more you can change any or all of the four LFOs to function as envelopes giving you a total of no less than seven envelopes. If I misunderstood you, apologies, then I'm not telling you anything new.
    Anyways, thanks again.

    Really great video, learned a lot of useful stuff. I had one question about the Trimmers Tab. Can you explain what the numbers above "Voices" and "Stack" mean? I'm also a bit confused about the "12" shown for "Voices" because as you mentioned there are only knobs for 8 voices, so where does the 12 (or more as I think this amount can be increased) come in?
    Also I notice when you play the lights under the oscillator voice detune section light up differently with each note. What does this mean?
    Thanks! Cheers

    • @voltijuice8576
      @voltijuice8576 Год назад

      It fits within the intended goal of Diva as an instrument - to mix and match building blocks from vintage mono and poly synths. So it makes sense that they choose to not clutter it with functions and features which weren't present in those. When you want more or arbitrary envelope segments then it's time for a plugin instrument for more modern sounds.

    • @olymoon2008
      @olymoon2008 Год назад

      @@voltijuice8576 Well, it's perfectly possible to keep the essence of a vintage synth, adding segments to an envelope. It's not another function, it's just evolution.

      @@AutPen38 damn....
      But I guess it is cpu intensive?

    • @AutPen38
      @AutPen38 Год назад +1

      @@lavatr8322 I've not used it, but one of the main issues with Omnisphere is you need loads (hundreds of gigabytes) of hard drive space, since it uses tons of samples as well as synthesis. Most of the presets would probably use less CPU than Diva does, because it doesn't take much processing power to play back a pre-recorded sample. The CPU gets busy when it has to calculate the effect of LFOs, delays, reverbs and other modulators. Diva is processor-intensive, because it starts with simple saw, sine, and square waves and your CPU has to calculate how to combine them to make pads etc. While you can certainly modulate the sounds in Omnisphere, it's fundamentally a ROMpler that is used to call up samples (of pads etc) from old synths. Diva essentially has to make those sounds from scratch.
