I got one in NZ, installed it, very easy install, it goes very well, starts first pop, and goes hard. Pity the postage let them down, went to japan and back like 2 times, lol. No bad lag or cut out the old one had. Good deal
Wow. Seriously thank you so much for the vid. Was just gifted my dads total stock 86 Zuk!! It sat on the side of the house for almost 2 years but still runs great except for some issues with the fuel/carb system. Literally almost spent 3-4x the amount for a CV Myside carb and kit but decided to go the more convenient route and purchased the 3K carb and install kit from Certified Machines. So stoked. I’ve driven this guy hundreds of times over the years but now that it’s mine I can’t wait to get to building it up as my daily/weekend warrior with these Utah trails here. Again thanks for the video and your channel in general. I’ve never been great with tools/mechanical work, but these past 2-3 years I’ve learned so much just from helping my dad with the Samurai on and off. The last 5+ years I’ve been looking around for more help/info on these Zuks and your channel is exactly what I wanted to find! How has everything held up since posting this video?
Honestly I haven't done much. I've been working some crazy hrs (yesterday was an 18hr day) but I've had the samurai and the channel on my mind, and want to get back to posting vids.
Hey thanks for the info on this,I just installed mine today with the kit. It would be cool to see an install video or at least a quick recap on this.cant thank you enough for the footage you’ve put out
Great video, but i'm wondering about what is the improvement for tue Zuk?? i've seen a couple of videos talking aout this swap; but there is some mileage upgrade? more power? i hope so. This swap looks easy to DIY.
I contacted Gary Scantlin because I only want/need half of his kit. I have a small machine shop at home and I made the EGR block off 20 years ago. It turns out that Gary is an ass and wont sell me the parts that would save me time. Well I had to spend the weekend making the parts that I could have just opened a box to get. I saved some time in the shop by viewing your video, thanks.
Mine worked great still put the oil filter o-ring too on top of the spacer for proper fit of stock breather. But worked flawless I loved it saved me a ton of running back and forth to a hardware store... BTW the screw and nut is for the throttle cable the keeper block on the sammy is too big for the 3k so that allows you to put that bolt and lock nut where the keeper would go putting the keeper though the throttle housing past the keeper so the bolt holds it in so it cannot come out. Only other way is to drill out the throttle cable bracket on the 3k
Thanks for the quick reply, well appreciated. I know you mentioned on your review video that you didn't feel it necessary to do the replacement. My mechanic skills are limited even though I'm a licensed Industrial Electrician and would love to see just which vacuum hoses are removed and if only vacuum advanced is used and if so does the timing change from the specks. I'm from a small Rural Town so any technical help here is limited so your expertise would be welcome. Thanks again for your educational videos. Bill
Bill Pascoe , if your talking about the 3K it actually does have enough progressive vacuum tio run the vacuum advance. So you don't need to hook it up.
Not yet, I've been really bowed up this past yr, and as a result I haven't even touched ether Sammy. My plan is to get back into the groove and pick up were I left off though
that is something that I'm going to find out. I'm in the Houston area for work and trying to line out a day , trailer, and street tires so I can take the BB to the dyno and get a base Hp on the stock carb. Then I'll do an installation of the 3K and then dyno it. I also have a Weber that I can do an install of then dyno run, and then a CV install and dyno. This is the plan anyways.
I'm definitely interested in the torque curve. Not sure I can tell 40hp from 41, but torque is like Christmas. More early, more better. Also it's over 200 degrees in Houston right now, please include a power correction for the rest of the world.
yo man, it looks like you stopped posting on youtube and FB. Hope everything is OK. I bought this carb set up on my samurai, and was hoping you would do a follow up install and set up video.
My Weber kills the engine on a steep slope. My mechanic says it's because the float valves are on the wrong side. Would a Toyota 3k solve that problem?
mick laporta, I'm picking up the budget build this weekend and bringing it to corpus. This is the truck in going to install the lights on. So I can get to installing them. I've also got the relay harness I like to use in Houston as well so I'll pick them up while I'm there.
So I found an 88 Sami. Mod jmb422j it is an unmolested barn find .parked in 03.. stock carb is gushing fuel from the little black boot on top pass.side.😳 should I rebuild it. Or go with Toyota, harley.? It's going to be a weekly driver..hunt rig ..what would you do..thanks for any info .love your channel..👍
1shot barbeque, so it comes down tio how much you want to spend. The Toyota 3K is a great setup for less. You can get everything you need from Gary Scantlin off of Facebook. But he's had been having trouble getting the carbs themselfs because of the new import taxes andtariffs. Best performance is going to be a MY-Side with a 40mm carb naturally aspirated / 44mm future turbo build. Either of these I would do and I have done. The choose is yours. The stock carb is also a great carb but with a rebuild being approximately $300 you might as well go MY-Side of emissions isn't an issue
Hello l have a 1988 and half suzuki samurai, l want to install the 3k carburetors but l don't find the kit in ebay you know where l can find it,,thanks, excellent video
Just picked up a 3k and will order the rest of the kit soon, but have a question: what does one do with the evap/charcoal canister line for the carb? This would also apply to a Webber, no? Can I plumb it into the air filter housing?
If you want to keep it you could, but the two ports that are already there use a different type of mechanism than just standard vacuum due to the fact that they are used for operating the flap to allow hot air from around the exhaust manifold for helping warm up the motor. You would have to add a port to the box or the into the pcv line that is running to the air cleaner box.
Very interesting Trey been thinking of another set up I’m not liking my Weber with the water choke. 👍. What does the whole thing run carb and kit if you don’t mine.
Great review but do you get any difference in performance because I have an su carburator and the engine is a bit rough and after seeing this I'm thinking about getting one
suzuki zuk , ppl say it's better but there isn't any dyno numbers out. You really do this to get rid of the finicky emissions that are on the truck stock.
Anand K Vinu, ppl have done this to eliminate all the emissions from the truck and have run the stock carb, but I should warn you that your gas millage will suffer, and this could cause the motor tio run rich and/ or lean. Which both are not good to run for an extended period of time.
