I've done far dumber things than missing an Allen key fixation. 😂 But I'd probably have not told anyone - so once again this is why your channel is so good to watch. You encounter everyday problems and find fixes with your build and just go for it. We can definitely identify mate . Awesome it was a bolt on no adapter!
@@andrebaumbach9447 Yeah I definitely got lucky that it bolted right on. I just came inside from making a thermal spacer out of some old plastic sign. I ordered a throttle cable so I can flip the carb 180° if I want (prob will). That cheapy carb seems pretty good so far. I love having the manual choke too. Its just rigged up so it's functional right now, but even in these crazy temps the Samurai seems to like some choke when cold. So weird.
@@andrebaumbach9447 Lmfao, nah man that thing is badass. It looked like it was in good shape in your video but if it's anything like mine (and everyone else I've talked to) the more you uncover, the more work you find that needs to be done. Can't tell you how many times I went to do 1 thing and dug in only to find I had to do 2 or 3 other things first. These are so simple it shouldn't be that way but it is. It's prob best to do like you said and strip it all the way down. At least then you know what all you're dealing with and can figure out a game plan where you aren't taking the same thing apart 6 times like my door panels. I've dropped the windshield 3 times, had the hood off 3 or 4 times. Maybe someday if I can do another Samurai I'll know more so that won't happen as much. How's the body work coming along?
@@FixLife119 hit a big snag as soon as I started in first few of what I thought were minor rust spots ...and basically created some sunlight hole features 😂. I am negotiating with a place to assist with the body whilst I look at doing frame etc . Hopefully will know more this week. @@GreaseAndGravel Hey, thanks alot. So after I mounted it "backwards" from how its normally mounted, I eventually flipped it 180° and added homemade thermal spacers and it made no difference, so in hind sight I would have just left it the same direction as it was mounted in this video. Thanks for watching!
@@FixLife119 Thanks man, I just watched where you flipped it around. Glad I saw both. I reckon if there's no difference the first one makes more sense to reach the adjustment screws. Mine is right-hand drive, so will see about the throttle cable. I wonder whether the thermal spacer is critical. Cheers
@@GreaseAndGravel It was well over 100° here when I was driving it around for a week or so with no thermal spacer. I didn't really notice any difference after adding the one I made. I'm not sure if you're coming from stock or a Weber like I was but the hardest thing without the kit was figuring out the throttle cable bracket. If you can make that work I think the orientation I mounted it the first time is better. The fuel inlet faces the pump, the hose for vacuum advance faces the distributor, and the adjustment screws are way more accessible. If I remember right it was a pain to get the rear driver's side bolt in the carb with it in that orientation but everything else made more sense. Also I received several comments after I flipped it 180° from people asking why I did that and saying they had theirs mounted the way I did it first and never had any problems. One other thing... I think I remember the fuel pump outlet and carb fuel inlet being so close together that the hose has to make like an S curve because they were too close to be a straight shot. I'm sure you'll get it figured out though. Lemme know if you have any questions.
@@FixLife119 Awesome, thanks for the detailed response! It gets up in the 110s here too, and summer is approaching! I'm coming from a stock carb. The thing runs good, but keeps fouling the plugs and the liquid choke has been deleted. I just want it to be as reliable as possible and running smoothly. I considered Certified Machine, but after shipping it will cost about 6 times what a Chinese 3K will cost. Thanks for the info on the thermal isolator. I think I'll first try a thick gasket and see if it fares okay. Thanks again, I might have a question or two :) Cheers
@@GreaseAndGravel No problem. The Certified Machine kit is definitely nice and has everything and then some, but you can make it work way cheaper. I didn't notice any decrease in power going to the 3k, I was kinda worried I would but it seems exactly the same at higher rpms. I did have to come out around 4 or 4.5 turns on the mixture because out of the box it was falling on its face.

Hi, check the pcv valve, my was leaking so the mixture was too lean and the engine when cold was rough too

If its opened U get more air from the T connection with the air box, so your mixture gets too lean. Can't add a picture.
