I was born British. Before I discovered Andorra I traveled the world mainly by sailing boat and have lived for 6 months or more in 18 countries. I first came to Andorra in 1982 and bought a plot of land here. I finally became Andorran some 20 years ago. To do this I had to give up my British citizenship and pass a rigourous oral exam in Catalan questioned jointly by a representative from each of the country's original six parishes on the constitution, the legal system, history, geography, traditions, festivals etc. I have since written a book jointly with Judith Wood called ANDORRA REVEALED which delves deep into Andorra's fascinating background. The country is very beautiful, clean, safe with friendly people and most school children graduating able to speak Catalan, French and Spanish fluently. In the Catalan primary schools the children are taught in Catalan until four then French is added divided half and half and then at 6 they start on English and, aged 10, Spanish is included though most children have already been speaking that in the playground. The outcome of our health system was recently reported in The Lancet to be top out of 195 countries studied over 25 years on 32 different illnesses. However I should say that is very much due to Barcelona being only a short helicopter ride away offering world class medical facilities.
Health system top of 196 countries better than way richer GDP per capita Monaco, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland ? For sure not. Also Luxembourg Air Rescue is with Dubai Air Rescue the best and top of the art medical recue in the World. In Luxembourg people learn Luxembourgish, French, German, English as their 4 main languages, often they learn a fifth and 50% being foreigners they speak even more languages. A friend of mine and his family speak 8 to 9 languages.
@@THEREALZENFORCE On what basis do you say "For sure not"? It is clear you have not looked into it. I am not talking about best medical rescue. What has that got to do with it? This was research carried out over 25 years into the health outcomes of 32 common diseases for people living in 195 different countries. One of them being Andorra which came top. Yes. Top. This is talking about the OUTCOME of the treatment received by people living in Andorra. I personally would have awarded the top spot to Andorra (Barcelona) as, with a population back then of some 75,000, we did not have access, for instance, to intricate brain surgeons after a car accident in which case the patient would be airlifted to Barcelona from the helipad on the hospital roof. And Barcelona is a centre for world class medicine.
live in barcelona and went to andorra few times by bus, it is really nice place to enjoy wintery snow and skiing or shopping for high-end product like make up or perfumes because its 30-40% cheaper than barcelona
It is just not for all. I would be absolutely ok with this kind of life style. Mordern people have become so addicted to the noise of big cities that they feel uncomfortable in such calm places like this one. Empty people, who need bread and circuses just to be filled by something from beyond. Sorry if i sound to grave. Anyway anytime you want you may visit big cities in Fance or Spain. Barcelona, for example. The real question is the job there. Not many working places, huh? Not for all occuations at least. But it is fine for travel business.

This is one of the most unbalanced and incorrect videos I have ever seen about Andorra. In fact possibly damaging due to the inaccuracy of the information. There are 77000 aprox residents, almost 43000 passports and it is NOT a tax haven as there are agreements set in place to exchange tax information with all the main European countries as well as 20 or more non-European. The month with the highest density of tourists is August. It is absolutely Not ethnically catalans! The andorran residents do not speak English well at all, in fact many are limited to only castellano! I'll leave it at that... though I could continue. Please revise the "off". Thank you.
Only castellano? ,then they are not andorrans, only Spanish who live in Andorra because the official language of Andorra is catalan not Spanish, and the young people of Andorra speak catalan,Spanish and many of they English and French.

I’m Andorran but it’s been long time I don’t live in , I miss you 🇦🇩
Im Romanian, hello! :D🇷🇴
Beautiful country and well shot video! Thanks for the information.
great vid, surprised so few views.
I have always been interested to visit Andorra. I think it should be very civilized given most of the population is Catholic. I will be happy to be a tourist there. I am too old to be a citizen, as I am now 64 years of age.
Yes Connie. Most of the population is white, very civilized.
So the civilization is related to the color of skin? Excuse me you narrow minded.
64 is too old? I am 71 and I am not old..and I go to Andorra very often because I live near,( 2 hours in car)
Such a beautiful country nice and clean with beautiful people too
I'd love to live in a place like Andorra. Since I don't (and can't) live there, thank heavens I live in a large country that has small places that look a lot like Andorra. 😎 The local skiing where I live is _excellent!_
A really informative vid! I’d live in Andorra for sure. I always thought that Andorra sounded like a fictional country in an old espionage thriller.
I hope the people of Andorra will support Catalonian Independence from spain.
LONG LIVE FREE CATALONIA!!!
HAahhaajajajajajajahahahahahaha
Actually the vast majority don’t
They are happy with their lives. They don't give a shit about your fight.
beautiful country. definitely on my list
I've been there its awesome city

"twice smaller than New York city" why not just say half the size of NYC???
@Josip fuck off
live in barcelona and went to andorra few times by bus, it is really nice place to enjoy wintery snow and skiing or shopping for high-end product like make up or perfumes because its 30-40% cheaper than barcelona
I would love visit it,and even live there after i retire from working.
Looks okay for 2-3 days ...would bore you to death from 4th day onwards
Such a wise thought!! I appreciate your view of the country as average.
One day meximum.and i am Saying on behalf of my tour to Andorra
where you live? In Disneyland?
for me only 1 day + 1 night after that it'd be bored!
Better than NZ
Have been to Andorra. An Exquisite time there.
People are Wonderful!
Thank you so much for upload this enchanting views and life. Wish you great happiness.
Andorra is the Bahrain of West Europe
Is it still Muslim-free?
Don't worry Islam will reach there as it is ordained that it will reach every house on earth. Keep ur fears at bay.
I have visited there some years ago. Amazing beautiful place.
Andorra is a lovely beautiful country. I would love to go there.
I wonder what the nationality of the narrator might be. His voice contains so many accents from east coast USA to Spanish and Arabic? I am a linguist who lives in Asia and Europe, so am very curious. Thank you.
I know it sounds crazy but I heard overtones of South Carolina at times!
@@JohnnyK60 Who says Spanyards? 2:53
Hi Alan. You're a linguist living in Asia and Europe, that's awesome and interesting. I speak english, german, portugese, spanish, some french and dutch as well. I wonder if you'd be able to guess my nationality if we'd talk with each other ☺
@@JohnnyK60 you're right. I heard the "southern" accent too. Specially when pronouncing the words "by" or "buy"
Thank you.
Native Andorrans are ethnically catalans, there's no mistake on that.
Only castellano? ,then they are not andorrans, only Spanish who live in Andorra because the official language of Andorra is catalan not Spanish, and the young people of Andorra speak catalan,Spanish and many of they English and French.
@@idanofek168 They may be less than the 50% of the population but that doesn't make them a minority, especially if the rest of the groups are smaller separately.
So awesome country . I'll visit here.
