  • An irresponsibly epic adventure right in our backyard. The WURL starts at Ferguson Canyon, climbs Twin Peaks, follows the ridge all the way around Litte Cottonwood Canyon, and ends with a descent from Lone Peak down Bell Canyon.
    35 miles / 18,000 ft of vertical / 21 named peaks
*Disclaimer. This is not a “hike” this is an extremely dangerous endurance climb. On top of being generally active, I spent the entire summer preparing and climbing segments of the WURL. Even with these preparations, people a lot more skilled and prepared have been hurt or killed along this route. My motto while climbing… “slow is safe.”

wow! I see now why your horses are mountain goats! Amazing! Not only a great challenge, a spiritual journey. You are real, rare these days.

I’ve done all the pieces over the last 10 years (I have 82 Pfeiff summits) and I think this 59 year old is finally ready to give it a go! My little brother Matt I think was the 3rd WURLy!

Absolute Beast Mode! Didn’t realize you were from SLC. I’m in SLC this week for business but I promise I won’t be doing the Wasatch Wurl. Well done sir. Beautiful family. Beautiful emotion.

Subbed. One of the only vids on the WURL around. Well done on the vid, and absolutely phenomenal job on knocking out a WURL bid.

When the memory of how horrible that was wears off, and you feel like doing it again, hit me up. I’m in.

I would like to complete the WURL next summer. How did you train for this and do you have any key things you did in your training that your glad you did?

  • @HikingEngineer

This was awesome -- this has been on my list for several years now after I saw Mediocre do it on their channel. I live down in AZ in Scottsdale -- ironically, I was in the SLC area when you did this (edit, nevermind, I was there just in 2023 August) I had a work event in park city. I did Gobbler's Knob and Raymond 8/23, Olympus 8/24, and Pfeifferhorn 8.26, before hitting Kings and then the Grand Teton before flying home. I have a relatively new hiking channel with a lot of stuff on it. This upcoming summer, I want to do the WURL, so if you wanna do it again lmk! But otherwise, I'll probably want to pick your brain on beta as I haven't done a ton research on it, but I'm no stranger to long hard hikes

Awesome video! Also from the valley and have done a couple of these peaks. I can’t imagine doing it all in one go but I’d really like to one day. I’m curious what peak/ridge section you think is the most technical and sketchy?
