Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart, fought in 3 wars, Boer, WW I and WW II. Though this song focuses on WW I. He was wounded many times. Shot in the leg , ankle , hip, face, head and ear, and blinded in the left eye. Survived 2 plane crashes, tunneled out of a prisoner of war camp, and tore off his own fingers when the doctors refused to amputate. The quote on paper in the video, "Frankly ,I had enjoyed the war", is something he actually wrote in real life. He survived all that, and passed away in 1963, at age 83. The story might seem over the top, so the band made the video in an over the top fashion. Song is from their 2022 album, The War to End All Wars. The entire record focuses on WW I stories.
if hollywood ever decided to do a war epic on this guy, they would need to tone it down because nobody would believe half the stuff he did and lived through, that's how insane he was, a truly class act and more than a man, a true legend.
@@Just_a-guy I know some of the stuff that Audie Murphy did was also so wild that they had to tone some of it down in his own movie as well. It's interesting since Audie actually starred in it, feel bad for the guy, it would've brought back painful memories.
At the start of the war UK was the only country running fully professional army and they accepted volunteers - the draft started by 1916 when much of that force was devastated. Since he wanted to be there right away he had to volunteer. "He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunnelled out of a concentration camp and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, "Frankly, I had enjoyed the war." Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart was badass. Highly suggest watching the Sabaton History for contexts - it has facts and trivia about both the story and the song itself and is generally really fun and well made (Indy does a great job making the story entertaining). Those can provide way more cool things than us in the comments ever can!
He volunteered to Boer War and didn't stop there: "He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunneled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them..." etc. etc. LOL
I recommend you react to sabaton history they go in depth about the history and a little about the song itself and another sing very similar is soldier of 3 armies
The most well known sabaton song i believe would be Primo Victoria a song about the allied forces on D day. Some people missheard the lyrics and it became a whole big thing.
When Sir Adrian began the ww1 campaign he chose mein Leben difficulty and he kept it there all the way through the ww2 DLC and when he died he just left the game alone and all the rest of us NPC's began to tell stories about him. From his chair high above he awaits the third DLC so he can rejoin the game again.
He didnt have to register for a draft because when he enlisted it was during the second Boer war, he was also underage and a foreigner so he had to jump through some hoops to enlist.
Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart= indestructible soldier. I recommend reading something about him as well, the guy was a madman born for war. He fought in the World War I and World War II. The number of injuries he survived is unbelievable.
Some time ago, I had over 20 years in the Army by that point, and my top secret clearance was due for the periodic reinvestigation. My draft registration number was a mandatory part of the paperwork.
Ladies, thanks for a fantastic reaction! I love Sabaton. As you've probably heard, Tommy is about to leave the band and will do some other stuff including a restart of his old band Majestica. I reckon you should take a gander at their masterpiece, Above the Sky. The original video ruclips.net/video/yt9Ma1W_0wI/видео.html is a fantastic showcase of the band, that I expect will show you roughly where Tommy is heading with his music. Unfortunately there are no really good live performances of the song as of yet, but the original video is a lot of fun. Thanks again. Love from Sweden.
Every man or woman who cross no men land at war should have their song. Doesn't love this song at first sight.. but after many review of the music video , that became my favourite Sabaton song 🤟 Adrian, an amazing warrior 🌹
This was in the UK. In the beginning of the war, the UK didn't have conscription. It did come later. When the UK entered the war, many enlisted cuz existing British Army was small (but, not their Navy). When UK went to war, their Dominion nations (such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India & S. Africa) went to war also. As far as I know, 18yr old American young women are still not required to register for the draft. 18 yr old young men are. That said, there hasn't bn a draft in the US since Vietnam, as Grandma on the reaction said. Neither US military or US public has bn interested in a draft since Vietnam. That's why Nat'l Guard & Reserves were so heavily called upon for Afghanistan & Iraq.
Requests: The Last Stand - Sabaton, Steel Commanders - Sabaton(music video), Skal - Miracle of Sound(music video), Sick of It - Skillet(music video), Can You Feel The Love Tonight - Peyton Parrish. Love you ladies, love your reactions. Have a great day, from your fans in Canada 🇨🇦
The difference is that they started with volunteers at the start of the war (any war). The draft is only implemented when there are not enough volunteers - and they have to FORCE people to enlist.
You should listen to Sabatons song "En Livstid I Krig", a live performance in Gothenburg in Sweden, they are singing in their own native language Swedish but the video have English subtitles. 🙂🎶
Hi Ladies, great reaction! I would really love to see you react to one of the sabaton history channel video's. The man playing Adrian Carton De Wiart in this video presents them. They are incredibly good at presenting the story behind the video and the music. Thanks for this one and see you on the next one.
The band seemed to have way too much fun killing their historian. Interesting tidbit. Indy complained that the "high-five" the band did after they shot him the first time was not accurate while ignoring the fact he is firing a Thompson submachine gun which was not used in WW1. Maybe because they are a blast to shoot.

He also lived in Poland at the start of WWii and the Germans bombed his house in the initial phase of the war.
he also took part in Polish-Soviet war of 1920
He also survived 2 marriages. 😅
He was wearing plot armor 😎
he was shot in the eye twice in in the same battle.
Fun Fact: The guy in the video playing Sir Adrian is Indy Neidell from their Sabaton History channel. 😆😆😆
He is also from his own youtube channel where he goes through WW1 every single day of it and he is doing WW2 now.
He also played Lawrence of Arabia in the Seven Pillars of Wisdom video.
Yea.. I think its so funny that they keep shooting there own history guy...
He played Lawrence of Arabia in the seven pillars of wisdom video. He also has his own channel.

Also.. he was not american... but well. They would proboly change that.. they have done that quite a few times before
No matter if it's a movie or play or just a chapter for children, these stories must be passed on.
Same thing happened with Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge. His achievements were so unreal that they didn't show truth 😅
@@rogermoore00 I will be singing Sabaton to my kids at night

Didn't he falloff a train and climb back in after a while of walking as wrll?

If anyone ever had a guardian angel Sir Adrian did!!
No one should be able to survive what he did, its amazing...
The most well known sabaton song i believe would be Primo Victoria a song about the allied forces on D day.

"Forged for the war, hes unbreakable" how joakim sings that gives me chills
I think they have a video about him on the Sabaton History channel with much more detail if you are interested.
He was one of the hardest Mfer, he was shot 11 times, he hade a few broke rips, he survived and escaped a Kz and many more
Insane story, but true and there is more about Sir Adrian . Sabaton historychannel . Greetings from nwAse Sweden
I would highly suggest Bismarck that video is amazing and I would recommend it even First Soldier official story music video

Don't forget his escape from a POW camp.

This guy's full story is crazy
Sabaton cranked the "catchyness" nob to 11. Then happen to break it of....
"Never die...."

Hello,Together!Let's go for Heavy Metal.
Juhu please more Sabaton
I recommend Back in control on the Sabaton channel
Real life terminator lol
theres always a draft its just not always in effect
You should watch The Christmas Truce by Sabaton. Watch their official video. It was in WW One.
It is already on the channel
I enjoyed that!
I claim the band bribed Indy with a hot nurse so they could shoot him repeatedly.
Sir Adrian makes fictional superheroes look like wimps.
The band seemed to have way too much fun killing their historian.

It was also a cheeky callback to the time when he classed the weapon as a WW1 weapon back on his channel.
