    Looks like another success! Nice touch adding the final set up and calibration to the HS402.

    Nice job. All encompassing video.Start to finish build. Another good reference.
    I may consider one of these plates.Thanks for all the work.

    Thanks your videos are great. I just ordered a hotplate after watching this video looks like the easiest way to smd solder.

    I use a 12v 220c 28w PTC heater from amazon which is around $8. no worry about getting too hot and it works well for small boards. I have it mounted to a larger aluminum plate and monitor temp with a standard multimeter temp probe.

    That hot plate worked better than I thought it would. Glad Martin went with the sop sized 6S21 chip for the HS402 PCB.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 года назад +1

      yep, the SOIC size is a challenge
      I still use them on HS101 PRO boards, but I think Martin may even have a revised PCB using SOP for it too

      @@theGADGETSplaylist Martin told me he will release the HS101 pro version 2 with the sop package as soon as he is done designing and testing the HS401 USB only for now.

      I'll throw some in as I order other PCB but until then, I'm OK with the original board. I was getting the hang of those small 6S21 just as the change to SOP came about...lol

      @@theGADGETSplaylist It will be interesting to see what method you come up with for the msop chip on the HS101 pro.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 года назад +1

      @@rs1971camaro it'll be mostly Martin's method of pre-tinning...I might add the slightest amount of paste on top...will decide at the time...
      I'll make a point of doing that part on camera...

    If you search on aliexpress I did not get hits for hotplate, but for '946-1010 preheat' - might depend on the country but for my english aliexpress I was astonished to have no search result when i searched for '946-1010 hotplate' nor '946-1010 hotbed'
    But I like the way those work out pretty nicely and with far less work compared to the hotgun fight, on and off, move around and being carefull if you proceed to the next area to heat up without moving previous parts out of position. Looks great when the surface tension pulls them into place and even aligns many quite perfect.
    I am collecting all the bits and pieces I have to order but luckily at least since december those shippings arrive in central europe within 10 days and even less since they collect the VAT in china from the EU citizen and pay those taxes at arrival in EU which makes the import lot fast and safter, no need to appear at customs and pay fees or to the postman. Quite reliable compared to 2018 - 2021 where Ali Express orders appeared within 10 days or mostly 1 or 2 months later.
    Great work and progress in the whole building process cause I had watched some newer videos already before.

    Really great review of the hot plate. Im looking for one at the moment but don’t think I will be buying it based on the review. Looks like most of the low cost hot plates are basically junk

      I did a follow up in #145 where I explain a hidden menu and a PDF manual I created and share with viewers...
      This thing cost me about $50 if I remember well. I would buy it, in that same size again...
      Thanks for your comment:)

    How does this plate do with keeping tea warm and making english muffins toasty? 😁 It looks like you found another useful tool.

    chinese watts are less once they crossed the pacific: 400 W will arrive at 75% so you get 300 W
    Happns too often that they miss their own phantasy specs one way or the other.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  2 года назад

      it's plenty of watts, whatever the final figure is...and even with the heat not rising evenly across the surface, it does get there uniformly eventually...this thing works great and no regrets having ordered it...

    • @typxxilps
      @typxxilps 2 года назад

      @@theGADGETSplaylist I just have checked it out on ali express and you might have mixed the figures for the different models cause at least now feb. 2022 they claim to have 300 W for your model which sounds like what you had measured and for the bit bigger one with 150 x 150 mm it should be 400W.
      So maybe the preheat beds are quite acurate advertised compared to other stuff like the 20 Mhz of the handtech 6022BL which I was not able to get, far far less.
