@@theGADGETSplaylist after they fix the bugs I have pointed out I will post a one the fly video of me using it for testing.. so far I have shared it on my Instagram page in which I have lots of followers in both automotive diagnostics and electronics. I agree and the only time I have used primary ignition is if the COP is so insulated that I can not get a good trace. no external trigger ... no trying to correlate 3 things at one time like crank, cam and also injector... but...you can choose 2...you can do cam vs crank (which is the usual way to do this and compare with a known good waveform) or you can do crank vs injector ... or crank vs #1 ignition ...
if you were going to purchase a new scope and you wanted one to use with android tablet what would you buy. have a small automotive repair shop and would like to have at least 2 channel would prefer 4 channel. i have a uscope and a snapon vantage legend 2 channel scope
It would be this one...OSC482 ... buy the "plain Jane" ... no suffix like "M" ... then purchase HScope licence for it. It's a great combo! You'll want the HANTEK 20:1 attenuator and to build GADGETS#106 4x attenuator. This will give you a lot of scoping power and mobility for very little money...
Can this be used to set gains on an amplifier and to detect distortion from a Head unit etc ? Usually for an amplifier used for subwoofers a 40hz test tone is generated and the oscilloscope is used to hook to speaker outputs. Starting with gain on lowest level slowly turning up watching the oscope for distortion etc. Thanks

OSC482 is by far the best choice Bob. Sure, it doesn't have 8 channels but there's no comparison for performance. I advise to stay away from models with suffix like "M" or "F" ... these refer to an Android version targeted for Chinese bypass of Google Play Services. We want the "plain" OSC482... Can get HScope at Play Store (if desired) later. And the LOTO Windows based software is better than HANTEK's as well.

The manufacturers website says the OSC482M has the android support but watching your video I see where you use the OSC482 with the HScope. Did you use it straight out of the box with the HScope or did you have to do some modification?

@@theGADGETSplaylist after they fix the bugs I have pointed out I will post a one the fly video of me using it for testing.. so far I have shared it on my Instagram page in which I have lots of followers in both automotive diagnostics and electronics. I agree and the only time I have used primary ignition is if the COP is so insulated that I can not get a good trace. I work on mostly 2011 and newer vehicles and most now are 3 and 4 wire systems and all the switching is done within the coil and all you can see is the 5V trigger pulse to fire the coil. Ignition current ramping is becoming more common method in my opinion.
Hi sir is an external trigger necessary when capturing cam an crack signals ...like triggering off injector one to see exactly where the two (cam and crank) must be in order to fire the injector or ignition ?
Im really impress by this scope for automotive use...but not sure if i need the external trigger...the data logger is pretty usefull...thanks for the vid an imformation it is priceless...tbanks again
I notice the Owon VDS1022I has an external trigger an it can work with the H scooe module....but wont have the data logger capability....plz reply if u can...thanks
no external trigger ... no trying to correlate 3 things at one time like crank, cam and also injector...
but...you can choose 2...you can do cam vs crank (which is the usual way to do this and compare with a known good waveform)
or you can do crank vs injector ... or crank vs #1 ignition ...
Thanks again sir....appreciate it...
if you were going to purchase a new scope and you wanted one to use with android tablet what would you buy. have a small automotive repair shop and would like to have at least 2 channel would prefer 4 channel. i have a uscope and a snapon vantage legend 2 channel scope
Well done!
Thanks
+Jeremy Strain - two different worlds...the automotive use of oscilloscopes where I have at the very least 1 foot firmly planted...and the electronics/audio world where I have at best 1 toe in:)
Have you checked GADGETS#56 where I feature the OSC2002. It may be a better option for your line of work. A bit more pricey. Not HScope supported (at present time) but the LOTO Windows software is pretty good and the specs of that oscilloscope are more targeted to audiophiles.
However, the the low frequency of the woofers you quote could be handled by OSC482.
@@theGADGETSplaylist Thank you for all of your videos and knowledge. This is all very new to me.
@@CabinetmanJeremy - thank you for the comment:)
@@CabinetmanJeremy - this guys knows what he's doing...and I understand it now...and yes, the OSC482 would do just fine for this!
ruclips.net/video/fx2INydXxnQ/видео.html
nice scope, but for the can,you cannot see it better live?
I showed both---LIVE---and---RECORDED so that we can see the two methods. I find LIVE mode flashes across screen too quickly.
So is this scope still the budget scope you would recommend? Im currently looking in to buying 1. The reason i got to this page was actually a hantek 1008c wich came up for sale unused for 25$ but someone managed to buy it before me. But now that i watched some of your videos im thinking i might be better of with this scope wich i think is cheaper when bought new as wel.
Hi, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video, it is very informative. I want to purchase this OSC482 and use it with the HScope but I am not sure if it supports android. The manufacturers website says the OSC482M has the android support but watching your video I see where you use the OSC482 with the HScope. Did you use it straight out of the box with the HScope or did you have to do some modification?
I understand your confusion about the "M" suffix. That ANDROID support is targeted at the chinese market.
I recommend plain OSC482 and then to get HScope support through the Google Play Store.
Thank you for your response, understood.
Great review. Straight to the point. Any chance you have some elegant DIY solution for "power probe" style tool?
+Mekenzi M - I'm not a big Power Probe fan. I don't own one. Maybe build one? Perhaps...
I prefer a more simple approach. We should own 3 test lights. A low resistance LED in handle, a higher resistance incandescent light in handle, and a 4A DIY light bulb type.
I think you meant low CURRENT LED, higher CURRENT incandescent light in handle and …..
Hi res LED, lower res LB Test light, lowest res bulb. Slip.
@@davesage9190 - YES, I meant that!
Got lots going on here...a new probe that I'm testing...demanding...
@@mekenzim6413 - yes, slip...
Darn! Wish you had done this before I ordered the HT 6022BE! Oh well, perhaps I will start a scope collection! :)
+Rod Johnston - This video was in the works when you told me you had ordered the HT6022 and were asking about tablets...LOL
Not to worry. You will get hours of enjoyment out of the HT6022. It will handle your needs as a DIY auto mechanic.
It's all good! Now I have a good reason to buy another toy!! :)
@@rodjohnston7989 - Had you said that were "thinking" of buying HT6022, then I would had mentioned the upcoming OSC482 review and you could have decided between the two.
I suspect there will be other units featured in the future. It's a rapidly changing field.
And thanks for watching:)
@@theGADGETSplaylist I'm deciding between the HT6022 and the OSC428. With this video I'm thinking to buy the OCS428 one. Which one would you recommend for buying?
@@SERAFINARODRIGUES I would go with LOTO OSC482. I recommend you look for plain one (no suffix like "M" or "F")
This will get you the best price and then you can add HScope support (if you like) from the Google Play Store
Where to get Android & Windows Software. The old link says it has been deleted.
right here Joe:
www.lotoins.com/support.html
that link is for Windows only...unless you have a "M" or "F" model that has "an Android version"
most of the time Android support is from HScope found on Google Play Store
logical Canuck love your channel. i just ordered the loto osc482f Android that comes with signal generator and the works. will it work right out the box with Hscope or do i need to download all the programming first ?? thank you and keep up the great content.
+Ron Sneyd jr - some time after the publishing of this video, LOTO added all those OSC482x suffixes. Most of these relate to accessory bundles, but the "M" and the "F" include a "built in" version of ANDROID.
I think you'll be OK and be able to install HScope but give me a couple days to confirm this with Martin Loren, the developer.
I'll get back to you.
Am pleased you like the videos, Ron:-)
@@theGADGETSplaylist ok great. thanks
@@ronsneydjr3509 - You will have the option of using the built in ANDROID support of OSC482F and/or purchasing the HScope APP from the Google Play Store.
No issue:-)
@@theGADGETSplaylist that is great news, thank you so much for checking that out for me.
@@ronsneydjr3509 - just use it out of the box as is when you get it. See what you think of the built in ANDROID.
You can then make a decision if you want the HScope APP and the AUTOMOTIVE MODULE (which I recommend) later.
These LOTO products are quite nice. A lot of oscilloscope for the money!
Also, you may want to order the HANTEK HT-201 attenuator (20:1)...easy to find online and inexpensive...very useful for these +/-5v input oscilloscopes.
Have fun!
Read an extensive review and test on the OSC482X:
chinese-electronics-products-tested.blogspot.com/p/osc482x-usb-oscilloscope-tested.html
Recent and well done review.
I question their €100 ... perhaps with accessories...because this oscilloscope can be had for $60 and tough to beat when compared to other offerings in the same price range.
AND, it is supported by HScope which squeezes the performance out of it.
Thanks for sharing, Jos!
Oh No. You're costing me money again :-)
Did you mention - Can it trigger on one of the channels?
Thanks for the review.
I went and looked on Amazon. It says it will trigger on Channel A. I wonder if that means ONLY channel A.
We poor Canadians are going to have to pay over $100 for it too. So annoying.
Thanks again
+Dave Sage - I meant to. Fell through the cracks. This was a demanding video to produce. I'll likely get another opportunity to mention it in later videos. It will like become my GO-TO scope...
How did you make out at the Model Engine gathering in Detroit?
It went vary well. Lots of very interesting stuff there as usual.
The engine is running better than ever since it has been breaking in and has been tuned up.
I'll get you some waveforms of the CDI waste spark soon.
Thanks
+Dave Sage - another reason behind the CH A only triggering is that the DB15 connector can also provide external hardware trigger...and that goes through CH B
+Dave Sage - I checked further and the CH A only trigger applies to the Windows software. HScope supports triggering on both channels.
Interesting. Thanks
Also, do u have an email that u can breached at? Thank u again
