    Hi, i have a question. My company wants me to go on temporary lay-off for 3-4 months.
    And i am planning my family this year. Probably December would be the delivery date.
    So can i apply for maternity leave and parental leave benefits if i go on temporary lay-off for Jan to April ?
    Because i read that one must not be on EI in past 52 weeks, from the datewe apply mat and parental leave.
    Looking forward for a reply asap.
    Thanks and Regards

    very Informative video
    Hi
    I have question regarding maternity benefits calculation? My weekly pay is sometimes different. How it is calculated? So when you applied it online which week amount you entered (highest amount week pay)? So basically I want to know my expected amount?

    • @ohiyominnie
      @ohiyominnie  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks Urvi.
      They calculate your insurable weekly earnings from your best weeks based on information provided by you and your record of employment. So, to get an estimate, you can put an average amount of your last 4 weeks of salary. Please remember that it's just an estimate.

    How does weekly 650$ is calculated? Is it on the basis on how many hours I worked? Can you explain the calculation method? I am working full time for last 3.5 years so I think I have enough insurable hours. But will I receive the full 650$ (before tax) as benefits?

    • @ohiyominnie
      @ohiyominnie  7 месяцев назад

      Hello
      The basic rate used to calculate maternity and standard parental benefits is 55% of average insurable weekly earnings, up to a maximum amount. The maximum amount is $650 a week.

    Hi, I thought of sharing a feedback on your video. Imagine you saw a video on RUclips which is titled in a language that you know and when you open it, you realize that the video is made in language that you don't understand! How much frustrated would you be? You'd probably dislike the video for wasting your time and would go to the next video. That was the situation when I watched this video.
    So, please title your video in the same language that you'd be making the video in or at least mention the language in the title.

      Hello. It's ok if you have two jobs.
      If you have accumulated 600 insured hours of work in the 52 weeks before the start of your claim from your jobs, you will be eligible. They will calculate your best weeks earnings and decide an amount for your EI.
