    I think he understands the situation. The situation is no one is catching and beating RB and Max in these regs. I think he sees this as a great swan song for the end of his career. Winning some races with Ferrari and donning the Red. I also believe he sees Ferrari as being more competitive than Merc will be and therefore giving him a slightly better shot at an 8th. I think he knows its far fetched to think anyone is beating Max and RB anytime soon though. I find it to be a good move for him to finish his career.

    • @j.p.ijsblok5304
      @j.p.ijsblok5304 11 месяцев назад +2

      Indeed. Merc or Ferrari need to build a better car then RB due to Max' insane consistent performance, to have any chance of a championship. There is no guarantee the Ferrari will provide one for LH. But at least he could possibly elevate the team and make a personal wish come true.

      Exactly ! A race where he got on the podium .. It was Fred that was there to cheer him and the Ferrari mechanics. No Merc mechanics in sight some excuse from Merc about the cameras only showing Ferrari cause they beat Red Bull. I think they have all moved onto Golden Boy and think he is the 2nd coming cause he beat Lewis in his first season at Merc but yet Lewis beat him last year. It may or may not be a good move for Lewis but time will tell. He may not win his 8th but he may get some race wins at the very least.

      Toto 'lost the dressing room'. He didn't keep Russell under proper control in 2023 and Hamilton had to do
      it on the track.
      He allowed Mercedes team to give lame excuses for not being supportive of Hamilton. (Fred Vasseur seized that moment in Singapore . . .)
      He failed to get the engineers to listen to Hamilton's input until it was too late.
      He just wasn't supportive enough when 2021 saw Hamilton blatantly robbed of a championship that he had clearly already won, etc., etc.
      Sir Lewis Hamilton has pretty much won won 8 years of F1 championships for Mercedes and is in effect a seriously important global brand and it's Mercedes loss . . .

If the man wants to race in a Ferrari, and be honest who wouldn’t, then go do what 99.99999% of the rest of us will never get a chance to do. Oh and by the way, Ferrari is FAST right now! And Lewis’s race craft is far superior to any other Ferrari driver in quite some time. I see him winning sooner than later.

    • @felix1974
      @felix1974 11 месяцев назад +3

      Agree partly. He's not got nothing to prove though. After losing the fastest car, he is one-all with his team mate over two seasons. If Leclerc beats him over the season next year, it won't look that impressive. That said, I don't like the guy but he has the ability to beat Charles. Max has shown that Charles doesn't really drive well when being pressed and can make disastrous mistakes . Hamilton should be well capable of pressuring Leclerc. Be interesting to see if he can stand it. If the car is fast , I expect Hamilton to be fast.

      Nothing to prove? If he goes to ferrari and slacks 1-2 or seasons it'll forever taint his legacy for a lot of people. Just how Max's first (deserved) title got tainted, and people will always pull out the nonsense, the same will happen to Lewis by certain fans if he doesn't perform.
      Those specific fans will always say "see, unless he's driving the best car, the merc he can't win"
      Or they'll mention how he can't win without being clear number one driver (altho vs russell he wasn't clear no.1 either)

    This could be a wise move on Lewis' part. He will be able to compete with what will likely be the best iteration of the Mercedes this year (not likely to reach further development next year given the formula change). He then moves to Ferrari for 2025 and cements himself with the Tifosi. Then in 2026 with the new engine formula, he is installed on one of the two teams that develop the best engines (Mercedes and Ferrari), with Red Bull being on the outside with newbie Ford. And at the same time, he eliminates the option for Max to leave RB for Ferrari.

    Also, I'm glad Ferrari don't get into all that. Ferrari make fast cars. Passionately. That's the only initiative that should concern them. I also don't agree with the statement of "F1 is a platform for (insert agenda here)".
    F1 should be a sport first, business second and at no point whatsoever should it profess to lecture people on their moral choices or politics.
    That doesn't mean Lewis can't stand for what he believes is right or important to him. It also doesn't mean his friends and colleagues can't stand with him, just don't use the sport as a bench to preach from. He's his own platform. He doesn't need another.

His focus has been on everything BUT his job for the last few years. If he cannot be bothered to show up at preseason testing to help develop the Mercedes, why does Ferrari think he'll be any different there? Mercedes is paying both Lewis and Mick Schumacher, maybe they should let lewis hang out in the garage and let Mick get some experience. I gotta think the German fans would prefer Mick and the team would prefer not to deal with a spoiled child that is incapable of carrying his own helmet or scooter!

    I think everyone is looking at this all wrong. 2026 is a new era for F1, and if Toto and Mercedes seriously wanted LH to be part of their new era of F1, they would offered him a contract that's beyond 2026, not one that's expired at the end of 2025. Also, LH won a Championship with McLaren, Mercedes was a mid tier team, they presented to LH their plan for the turbo hybrid era, LH looked at where McLaren was heading, and where Mercedes wanted to go, he joined Mercedes for a new era in F1, many thought he made a mistake and should remained with the power house McLaren, McLaren was in the abyss and Mercedes won multiple Championships. Fast forward to today, LH has the front seat to Mercedes, he saw how they couldn't dig themselves out of this hole of mediocre, he knows first hand where and what Mercedes have planned for 2026, then Ferrari came and presented their 2026 plan to LH, thus is a repeat of McLaren and Mercedes for LH. Ferrari always has the most powerful engine on the grid, even when doing the down years, LH remember he couldn't keep up with Seb on the Kemmel Straight even with KERS and DRS. With 100% sustainable fuel for 2026, and RB mounting a Ford powerplant, Mercedes have always been down on power, LH think Ferrari will be on the rise for F1 new era of F1 cars.

Just because you all expect your life and passions to be over at the age of 39-40 does not mean LH has the same mindset as you commoners. When he does, you lot will be here, overweight, half your hair gone, screaming your frustrations on to the internet.
