TL:WR; Lewis in the Redbull would still be top
      Long read
In 2021, F1 changed its regulations thus affected Mercedes' low rake concept. However, Mercedes and Hamilton fought till the last race until the Massicre that was the last lap. If Charlie was still at the helm it'd been 8 for both LH44 and Merc. Coming to the new regs, Honda knowing they were to exit, which they aren't, were given "leeway" to develop their engine despite the development freeze. This gave them the rocket ship that is their engine. Combine that with Adrian Newey's big brain design and bam! An engineering master piece. So from 2022 onwards it's just Redbull top. And Max being Max, he drives the f out of that piece of art. In conclusion, Merc were not blind sided by Max, Max is a generational talent but Lewis is just something else. A bona fide GOAT

Put Hamilton or Verstappen in a car that reaches its peak at 4th in wcc and you ll see the same we saw about Leclerc,Norris,Alonso or Sainz.Actually Hamilton have proved it in 2022,crying on the radio about the car while Russell was scored 2 poles and one victory.A champion is a champion no matter how good/bad his car is.If they are able to score so many in the best car on the grid and in an average car does nothing more than crying and making rookie mistakes,it means he is not a champion but a lucky driver who had a championship winning car.

Something I missed in this whole thingemajiggy that's a Hamilton ad:
The fact that the mercedes had the engine before anybody else; toto pushed for this engine concept with fia, and fia obliged (knowing toto's huge influence on f1), so they had a multi YEAR lead on that part. That mercedes engine was so all powerful that they could've bolted it to a filled port-a-potty and still win. Plus the millions they thrown at that car, made it almost impossible for anybody else to come close. And then there were those infamous words from the wall; "Vallteri, it's James..."
But now all of that is restricted, it comes to the car and driver, and then the talent of 'sir' lewis isn't that great.

Both correct, the team and car were being fine tuned and then came the already advanced engine.
Pastor Maldonado could have won 7 driver’s championships in that car. Hamilton is a decent driver but the reality is that there have been many more talented than him in his career. Almost all of the truly remarkable drivers started in turd bucket cars and teams and still dazzled with their talent. Hamilton started at the top, was favored by his team because he had been a junior member since becoming a teenager by none other than Ron Dennis, and yet was only on par with established drivers. Unfortunately, those that only look at how many wins one has will never realize the talent of truly great drivers eg:Jim Clark, Gilles Villenueve, Aryton Senna etc.

Imo, Mercedes knows how dangerous Hamilton is, hence why they re-signed him, even though they want to bring up Russell to be their front man. The differences in machinery of Mercedes vs RB, McLaren and Ferrari has been apparent all season, especially Suzuka. They did it in 2013, and I think it's that mindset of having to return to "how do we get better" instead of "how do we stop the others from getting better" that's starting to ripple inbetween the works of the AMG. They're clearly going the right direction, but they need to speed it up before Lewis starts to look at faster, higher competitors, like McLaren or (as mentioned) Ferrari.

ik ur probably thinking of austria when typing this, and i kinda agree, but theres a difference between the car just not having the pace, and the car being undriveable. in austria, the car "just won't turn", in ham's words. Which caused him to get 15 seconds of penalties for track limits. Meanwhile in the rest of the races, u can see the car was ok but just not fast. And those times, hamilton didn't complain as much. Basically, he cares a lot for the driveability of the car, just like any driver. The same reason why max complains quite a lot, even with a car that is one of the most dominant in the history of f1.

But, that doesn't mean you are the best driver in the world. Its like every team has similar porsche 911 carreras and your team has 911 gt3's. I think calling a driver a world champion is ridiculous based on his car is faster. I only think you can award fastest car of the year championship, based on whos car was fastest. Putting the top drivers in the slowest cars they would never win a world championship. And putting the slowest drivers in the fastest cars, they would be the best driver in the world every year.

Wouldnt work, RB can only build a car for one driver only, look at all the teammates of Max... And then look at Perez at the start of last season and this season. Before the car gets completely convertered to Max´s style and preference. Max has a wierd style and whats alot of oversteer aslong as the nose is planted. If Lewis where to join, the team would be split in two camps and it would be a disaster for the team. RB simply cannot take input from two drivers and get their car to function with both of them (or dont want to as long as Max´s performing) Thats why what Perez is doing is so good, driving a car made for someone elses complete prefferences and style with a decent amount of speed still. Not saying that Perez is equal to Max, hes not.

He was thought of as F1’s most exciting driver since his rookie year a good 7 years before the hybrid era tbf. If he didn’t go to Mercedes in 2013, you can bet he’d have been hired by them or Ferrari or Red Bull not long after. If he went to Ferrari he’d likely be a 2 or 3 time champion because of 2017 and especially 2018 because the difference there was the driver more than the car, and if he went to RedBull he’d at least be in 3 serious title fights between ‘21 and now. There’s no version of events where he doesn’t go down as one of the greats.

After 2011, Hamilton was not beaten by his teammates because of team orders.
Except 2016 when Tot Wolff mismanaged it and the engine failure has cost Hamilton the championship, as it would have been nothing short of sabotage by Mercedes to deny Rosberg. Toto got furious and Rosberg knew it won't happan again, and promptly retired. He had no desire to play second fiddle.
Bottas tought he can race Hamilton, but was put back into his place real fast.
