      @aros0018 11 месяцев назад +4

      Though that ideology is also one I've noticed a lot of even longtime fans seem to misunderstand. To an extent I get it since it was the arc right before where we got introduced to Endeavor and thus some people assume there must be more Pro Heroes out there like that and that those are ones Stain is targeting, but if you actually pay attention to what he says and does throughout the arc that's not really what Stain is about (though he would still absolutely kill any Pro Hero he encountered who was like that).

    • @grantharriman284
      @grantharriman284 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@aros0018 Agreed, it's complex and nuanced. Stain has a VERY narrow concept of what is a true hero, and everyone else is an imposter. He kills imposters, though that doesn't mean each individual hero rises to the level of being individually targeted. If you don't demonstrate yourself to be in that category then he will kill you, but he will expressly seek out those he views as actively seeking the fame and money in order to make an example of them. As far as we know only All Might has earned the recognition of true hero from Stain. That's why Stain wants All Might to be the one to stop him. Stain also isn't blindly following this ideology. He is actively seeking to reshape society and knows that the IDEA of the hero killer much like the idea of the SYMBOL OF PEACE is more powerful than the actual body count, so he chooses not to simply kill every hero he encounters so that they tell the story and fear increases in hopes of driving those who are only in it for the money and fame out of the industry without actually having to kill each and every one.

    • @aros0018
      @aros0018 11 месяцев назад +21

      At least not in regards to injuries that you can actually see fairly frequently. Most permanent injuries in anime tend to be along the chest or torso, kind of like All Might's, and thus they're usually hidden because the character is almost always wearing a shirt. Luffy is one of the exceptions because post-timeskip he tends to wear his shirt open.

    • @SirFoxbutt
      @SirFoxbutt 7 месяцев назад +8

      A lot of characters (I mean just look at Todoroki's scar and even Kirishima's scar on his eye) come with the scar as part of an existing backstory, so it's refreshing to see the injury actually happen during some WE get to see/experience so that memory attached to the permanent damage is something we always remember and truly feel attached to, in terms of character growth.

    I think with all might saying Deku couldn’t be a hero initially, people miss the fact that all might can only do his hero work because of the quirk he was given. So it makes perfect sense that before meeting deku that he was strongly in the “you need a quirk” camp because he knows more than most how much him having his quirk allows him to be a hero. And with no intention initially of giving deku his quirk, with that mindset of course he is going to say to some random kid that you need one and that being a police officer is a fine job instead. Because he wants to be honest, and in his mind get him on a reasonable path given what deku wants. I think that sometimes people take the fact that all might have deku the power later on and accidentally factor that into the decision making beforehand, because he isn’t going to give a random stranger his quirk his working assumption talking to Ep 1 deku is that he will never have a quirk and he goes from there.
    On a side note, I find that many people have a weird blind spot with this show and the “do you need power to be a superhero” question because the answer the show objectively gives is yes, to do superhero level work you need a power. Now you can definitely discuss what a hero actually means and how that reflects on the attitude of the person but Ie. the “power doesn’t make you a hero” point, but asking whether a person can be heroic and whether you need power to be a superhero are very different questions. One asks about who you are and the other whether or not you can actually perform in a specific job and I think people accidentally blur the two together when thinking about this field of topics. It doesn’t help that deku is a heroic person without powers who wants to be a hero and then gets to do that, because I think people can unconsciously treat that as affirmation that yep, anyone can be a hero (the job) while he literally had to get a superpower to be able to do so.
    Anyway, I don’t know how that reads to others but hopefully you get the gist of what i mean.

      I know this is late, but also to note is that fact that even with all of All Might's power, he was still almost killed and recieved such a horrible injury. That is bound to push him even further into the 'you need a power' camp because if even he can get injured with the power he has, how could he in good conscience tell someone without a power to go into such a dangerous profession.

    All Might wasn't being hypocritical, because what he said still stands true for them. Without a quirk, you can't hope to become a hero. He said that to Deku, because he had no intention of giving him One For All yet, so Deku' would've remained quirkless. Deku couldn't have achieved what he's achieved now, if All Might hadn't given him a quirk. The only exception I could see to that is if you're talking about someone brilliant like Hatsume. She has a relatively weak quirk, but her skills come from her talent for engineering. But, if you're up against a villain like the handface villain, you can't beat him with normal human strength, or sheer willpower.

      Idk if I agree. Look how far Deku got without his quirk. His intelligence, raw strength and drive are enough to be a high class hero. Would he be able to deal with the top, no, but he would've made it to the tournament, and lost against the brainwasher.

    • @houseofaction
      @houseofaction 11 месяцев назад

      I disagree, being that peopple like All might can have a naturally strong body without a quirk proves you can be a hero without a quirk. lets look at All might for example he went into being a hero with an insanely strong body to the point he had no backlash from One For All, ultimately its a quirk that requires a person to have a supernaturally strong body.
      otherwise it will destroy its user. which would also mean that as the user gets even stronger they would need to have an equally durable body. so for example lets say All might were to have his body restored to its prime form, even without One For all his body would still have the durability he had as a hero

    • @nekkobenitez2756

      Allow me to back you up here.
      You guys bring good points, but the argument still stands.
      -One point that was brought up was that some people can have a “Great Physique” that could potentially put up a fight.
      With that same Mindset, let’s grab “Death Arms”, he is incredibly strong (although that maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed), but even though he has SUPER-HUMAN Strength, he was still NO MATCH for the Sludge Villain in Episodes 1 & 2. And to Add Salt on the Wound, Neither Mt. Lady nor Kamui Woods could have actually beaten the villain. An Argument can be made for Back-Draft, but he unfortunately is clearly incapable of Juggling multiple threats at a time (which clearly shows why he’s not a Top Hero).
      So now I ask you, do you truly believe that a Quirkless Human could’ve stood a chance against the Sludge Villain? How About Shigaraki? How About the Hero Killer? How about the Big Bads in S3 and beyond?
      Although that Deku was doing work against the Sudge Villain, if All Might didnt step in, he would’ve MOST definitely died.
      -Some of you mentioned Hatsume, and although she can be classified as a Genius, let’s be realistic here, there is NO WAY that any of her support Items could match what’s in stored for the Upcoming Seasons.
      The Bottom line is,
      If people with Quirks are currently struggling with the current “Low-Level” Villains, Quirkless people will have a LOWER chance of beating them.

      @@boggless2771 Deku made great progress in a tournament setting sure, but that would not carry over to real hero work. Look at anything Deku accomplishes later in the show. Do you genuinely believe he could've overcome these obstacles if he was powerless? At that point, he'd just be putting people in danger for his vanity of wanting to be a hero.
      You can still help people if you're not a hero, All Might's best friend is a police officer, it wasn't a half-hearted recommendation he gave. he genuinely believed it would be the best path for Deku at the time.

    Kenny and especially Montana are doing something that a lot of people do watching this show where they call people by their quirk names instead of their real or hero names. This works fine except in one very specific case. It is very important not to conflate Tokoyami Fumikage and his quirk Dark Shadow. Dark Shadow is semi if not fully sentient, has a personality of his own, and is not entirely bound to Tokoyami's will and directions. They are friends and happily work together, but Dark Shadow is a separate entity that has his own characteristics beyond simply being something that Tokoyami can produce from his body.

    Alright we have a new batch of rounds to analyze! And a few other things I’m sure are not important. They rapid fire off the rest of the quarter finals and semifinals. Can’t stay in the stadium forever.
    I’ll leave the audience alone and I’ll say that Deku’s therapy session for Todoroki did not go public. Only Cementoss and Midnight heard. And basically the UA teachers heard afterwards.
    Ok you straight up called the Endeavor Todoroki interaction. Down to the fiber. Open arms, take my hand, ALL OF IT. Todoroki has at least more PARTIALLY accepted himself. But in NO WAYS has he accepted Endeavor. And I love how he says he forgot about Endeavor. Not just in a way that dismisses Endeavor, but also because when you look back, Todoroki didn’t so much as RESPOND. He was in his own world in the end. His path to carve. He was free. (Granted it was because Deku kept putting IMMENSE pressure on him and he was trying what he could to SURVIVE, but that’s aside the point.)
    This is SO hard to watch Deku thinking back on his treatment of the match with Todoroki. To hear he will never be the same again physically because of his injuries, to hear Recovery Girl saying you pushed this pressure onto him. And All-Might does his best to make his disciple feel better…by saying what is in my opinion the absolute STUPIDEST THING HE EVER SAYS IN THIS SITUATION. “Meddling where you don’t necessarily have to is the essence of being a hero.” ALL-MIGHT TEACH THE BOY SOME SELF PRESERVATION! Did you NOT just SEE what Deku is ALREADY willing to do for the sake of someone else?! I know he’s trying to reinforce his willpower which is the source of a strong OFA holder but ABSOLUTELY DETRIMENTAL to what we know about Deku as a person! If he didn’t say things like I have zero doubts you were the correct choice and that he HIMSELF is quirkless, I’d freaking kick All-Might right off UA staff. Also the kids all being HORRIFIED by Deku’s performance is VERY justified. Including Mineta who said a quiet part out loud. Deku played the best he could but didn’t play the way others WANTED him to. (1st round was quirkless, 2nd round was just “telling people what to do” and the final round he let loose to the detriment of himself. That’s a 0/3 personal marketing in an Olympic competition.)
    Shiozaki vs Iida:
    Well kinda hard to remember this after last round but these 2 are among the strongest students. Shiozaki unfortunately roots herself to attack underground and while she can make great traps, can’t set them for someone that can get to her so fast. Iida runs about 100 mph max speed and that’s just WAY faster than any of the kids can deal right now. Plus it’s open terrain giving Iida all the leeway he needs. And like many broken quirks, it’s common for kids to be over reliant on it and have no answers for when their quirk guard fails. And she gets pushed out easy.
    Mina vs Tokoyami:
    Can you dissolve your shadow? No? Nah this one was not going to end well. Dark Shadow is too free form and is just unaffected by Mina’s acid honestly even if she DID land a hit. Plus Mina has a more long range quirk while she prefers close range. And in a 1v1, without special conditions, getting close is all but impossible. Because Dark Shadow can wrap around you too, so getting past the head isn’t a guaranteed opening.
    Mineta actually is wholesome here. He was terrified for Deku’s sake, and is now trying to cheer up Uraraka who is worried sick about the poor guy. Mineta has genuine respect for Deku and I think his only perving limits are around Uraraka because the two of them are close. He still makes comments, but considering what we’ve seen, that’s restraint for him. Not justifying him. But it’s more complicated than what we’ve seen. He’s not without complication.
    Kirishima vs Bakugo:
    This fight is actually a lot more interesting than people give it credit for. Uraraka outperforms Kirishima on defense despite him LITERALLY having armor. So I had to do some thinking on how that happened. And I realized one thing we’ve never gone over is Uraraka’s quirk resistance. Because she can affect gravity in so many different ways, her body likely resists various pressures of gravity she can apply on herself. And even extreme pressure like Bakugo’s shockwaves might be slightly resisted. (Being under a higher gravity EVERY ASPECT of your body has to be more built for the pressure. You can’t just train under higher gravity like Goku. Your body would sooner fall apart. Uraraka might be the ONLY one with Goku rules and that’s only to a certain point.) Kirishima wards off the heat explosion heat, but armor doesn’t stop shockwaves. And his quirk longevity is just clearly more finite compared to Uraraka who we now know can balance herself for MUCH longer fights. Just a neat adjustment showing the layers of Bakugo’s quirk. There’s 3. The explosion itself where the fire is, the shockwave (likely the most dangerous part), and the following wind current. Bakugo doesn’t have the longevity some of the other major players do, but with those 3 tools, he has A LOT to work with to keep up. And it helps add depth to just how strong Uraraka is even after she’s eliminated. (Also love that Tetsu roots for Kirishima. The two settled their “differences” fast.)
    Todoroki vs Iida:
    Iida was dealt a bad hand here. Todoroki just spent 10 minutes battling someone that has much faster and dangerous attacks and coming off the Deku fight, Iida must be much easier to track. And Todoroki has the reflexes to keep up with faster opponents to a point. Iida is within that range. And both Shiozaki AND Iida have elemental weaknesses. Iida is weaker to his fire because his engines overheat, and Shiozaki wants no part in either. But limiting Iida’s movements and even getting a HAND on him is enough. If Iida chucked him with his momentum, he had a MUCH better chance than most other competitors. But sadly he didn’t find that opening in time. 10 seconds is A LONG speed boost, but it can be halted too. He may have done better if Todoroki didn’t fight Deku 1st and proper warmed up his reflexes.
    Tokoyami vs Bakugo:
    And the light weakness is revealed to the class. We knew of it before, he told us Kaminari’s lightning could completely destroy dark shadow. But Tokoyami being so defensive gave it away and he even surrendered under the same threat from Bakugo. That being said, if Tokoyami were a BIT more controlled, the soot cloud could’ve provided more darkness for him. Passing clouds, and finding even the slightest darker areas could provide more nuance. But Tokoyami will ALWAYS be weak to the main student characters. Almost all of them generate light, Uraraka basically nullifies him as a brawler, and Deku has SO much force and his hand glows when he uses OFA. Iida, Todoroki, AND Bakugo all just weaken him and have the force.
    Also shoutout to MHA for using EVERY possible outcome of a match. Knockouts, out of bounds, immobilizing, surrenders, and even what happens when you draw. Also forgot to say Kirishima’s carbon armor is denser than Tetsu’s steel armor which cracked in their arm wrestling. And Tetsu might be a LOT more interesting with his armor if he can outright change the element of his armor. If he forged iron he eats into steel for his armor, I wonder what happens with OTHER elements.
    And we got Ingenium. I’m pretty sure he is a Top 10 hero with his team size, and it’s a shame his time in action is cut short. We have to open the mystery of Hero Killer Stain. And attacking Iida’s support system is MAJOR. AND Shigaraki and Kurogiri tracked him down. And whoever the shadow was watching TV and telling Shigaraki to pay close attention to Deku and Todoroki. This builds a LOT of intrigue. All we know about the guy is he has a LONG tongue as of now.
    Next is the final match! Not going to lie, I love the sports festival but I’m always happy to move on to something new and exciting when it’s done. I just feel like it’s too much at one location even if it does a GREAT job showcasing our 20 kids in the class and showing how they’ll build from here.

    It's cool to learn that All Might was quirkiness too. He got the attention of his predecessor and gave him OFA.
    The Hero Killer bring a new aspect to a hero society. We got to hear why some of our students want to be heroes but can there be a wrong reason to want to be a hero? And what you do while a hero, is all the material things you get from it wrong? Stain says that heroes that are heroes for money and fame shouldn't be heroes. Although as Montana says that heroes are still saving lives it shouldn't matter, it does imply that if a neighborhood doesn't bring a hero a lot of money or popularity, they don't patrol there. They usually work in very populated cities and it leaves impoverished cities with a lot of crime.

    34:30 i disagree. There was nothing hypocritical about All Might in that scene.
    Transferring a quirk is impossible except for this one special case. And unless he decided to give it to this random kid (and that was a ridiculous idea at the time) he was complete right: Izuku couldnt become a hero without a quirk.
    Its only after winning whats basically 10 lottery tickets in a row, by inheriting One For All did it become an option. But that isnt a reasonable thing to hope for, for a standard quirkless person aspiring to be a hero.

    • @BeyondTrash-xe1vs
      @BeyondTrash-xe1vs 4 месяца назад

      He also recommended Deku become a police officer, the profession of his best friend. All Might didn't say that half-heartedly, he genuinely thought it might be a good path for a quirkless person who wants to be a hero. And if Deku couldn't get a quirk, it probably would be the best life path for him. Anyone who thinks Deku would've become a villain really doesn't understand him at all.
      It's only after seeing Deku's heroic spirit that he chooses to make him his successor, which requires giving him a quirk. If anything, i think that's all the more power to his initial statement. You cannot become a hero without a quirk, you'd be risking too many lives for your own vanity.

There are limits to what she can heal like if Deku actually lost an arm she couldn't regrow it. I know I’m going to receive a lot of negativity for this but I’m glad Iida lost. He really bothered me a lot during the sports festival. He waited for izuku to explode his strategy for the second round to tell him that he wanted to stop relying on izuku to get through things even though he hasn’t been doing that. I wouldn’t have as much of an issue with this if he didn’t decide to be on todoroki’s team. He was on a team with two students that were accepted based on recommendation. It makes him look like he had no confidence in his friend’s abilities and decided to join the team that would lead to an easy victory. Half the people who didn’t make it past the cavalry battle deserved to win the sports festival more than Iida did.

    • @BeyondTrash-xe1vs
      @BeyondTrash-xe1vs 4 месяца назад

      TLDR: Iida believes in Deku and his intelligence, and likely would have been better off following Deku's plan. That's why he chose not to depend on his friend and stand on his own two feet. He is able to make the team with some of the class's best students thanks to his own merits and even then was the sole reason they won.
      "It makes him look like he had no confidence in his friend’s abilities and decided to join the team that would lead to an easy victory." That's literally the opposite of it though. Iida hearing Izuku's plan and thinking it's a great one for being thought up so quickly is exactly why he realizes he needs to stop depending on Midoriya and do this on his own. And it's not as though Iida just got a free ride, Todoroki could've had almost anyone on his team, but it was Iida who made the cut. And he is by far their team's MVP, and the only reason they win that round.
      The problem you're having here is that you greatly underestimate how much Iida respects and admires Deku. From their very first meeting in the UA tryouts, he's seen Deku has someone very intelligent, always one step ahead. That's why he voted for him to be the class president. Then Deku wins the first competition without even using a quirk, solely on strategy alone.
      *Iida did not choose a different team because he had no confidence in Deku. Iida chose a different tea, because he DID believe in Deku.*
      Even with how quickly they came up with it, Deku's plan was really good. Iida has already impressive movement capabilities, but combine that with Uraraka lightening the load, and they would've been incredibly difficult to catch up to. Hell, even without Iida the only one who could catch them was Iida himself. If Iida was on their side they would've been so much better off, and even if they lost the million points, Iida's recipro burst could've been used to get it back in an unreactable attack.

    To correct the statement, class 1-A and class 1-B are not equal, class 1-A is better. They are the top 18 from the exam and 2 recommendations while class 1-B are the bottom 18 and two recommendations however, the anime emphasizes that although the ranking is that way, the way you use your quirk and the quirk match up can dictate the winner, and loser. To reiterate class 1-A is stronger than class 1-B during the sports festival as they have a better understanding of their powers and have more real experience.

      This is just incorrect. You can see multiple Class B students in the top 10, and Class B has two students who got in on recommendations as well. They are not an inferior class, they are on equal footing with Class A. The classes are assorted randomly. Please don't try to correct others based on only assumptions.
