There's just no hiding how much he loves music. In his recent interview with Chris Liepe, he said that when he first starting singing he was terrible, and he learned how to sing the same way he learned guitar - RUclips videos. He even got to thrill Chris by telling him that Chris' own videos were part of what raised him vocally. That was a moment, for sure.

I am just so proud of him! I watch a Ren video everyday and I have his album(s) downloaded on phone! This song Neon was probably before his illness? Anyways, I just love his music and he is a gift.
So much so!
I think one of the biggest bonuses for him now is that he has already defined himself as having no fixed genre before and during getting a level of fame. Had he just appeared out of nowhere with a hip-hop based album he'd have had fans who probably wouldn't have accepted the guitar album that's coming next. Instead I think just about everyone who has been drawn to him has done so because of the sheer range of his talent and not because of any particular genre of his music. My top five of his at anytime would probably have a complete mixture of genres in there.
As for this song, I thought he did an excellent job on it and as you said you can see the talent even then. He even did a good job of mimicking the breathy singing of John Mayer as well.
Yes. That piece is not easy to play at all. He did well.
My favourites of Trick The Fox/ baby Ren are 4 Elements and Poem By Ren. Both under 2 minutes each and the lyrics (of course Rens) are amazing

Hadn't seen that one ! Young innocent Ren could never have known what a strange life journey lay ahead for him. He was clearly destined back then that he was going to "make" it. His life experience have added so many layers to his music.
What a ridiculous rollercoaster he has been on already - it's fantastic to be able to share in his musical voyage for which he has had to work so hard over so many years to get to this point
