- Bernie Taupin gets to say a few words before Elton cuts him off and rambles on for the rest of the interview. Check out Bernies body language while Elton plays the 'Star'. Pt 3 of 3. Sorry about the crackling in the audio, this wasn't broadcast like this so i don't know how it managed to get onto the tape. Shown/repeated on BBC4 in June 2009.
Oh I love Elton's young voice. Singing and speaking. Smooth and clear.
Still great 👍
Bernie's face is like: Why was I invited to this interview anyway?
He was shunted out I feit
Poor Bernie
@@magorzatapiotrowska9739 maybe you were being sarcastic, but still, I mean over his whole career, Elton has been very nice to Bernie. Always mentioning him whenever he won awards and saying how important Bernie was to him.
Maybe at this time Elton was more arrogant and putting more of his success purely down to himself. But as he’s got older he’s certainly always appreciated and acknowledged the importance of Bernie in his life and career. And that’s what’s important really. Bernie seems to be the only person in eltons life that has been a constant and been with him through thick and thin. They are absolute brothers from what I see.
@@Drenwickification yea it is true The are more like brothers
@@Drenwickification I’m sure Bernie knew the difference between ‘Reg’ and Elton and simply tolerated it. An incredible lyricist. One of my favourites is Tell Me When The Whistle Blows also from Tumbleweed. Ballad of a Well know Gun.
I love Elton and Bernie's voice, it's so soft.
These two must be protected at all costs.
bernie was so handsome!
It's really cool seeing such a candid interview of them during that time. Haven't seen this before
bernie was so handsome!
and elton so cute!
Both Bernie and Elton why are handsome and they still are okay let's get this straight ladies and gentlemen I feel I've always been a Elton love of my friend Jennifer she love Benny Bernie but Elton I've been loving him 47 years loving and listening to him and to me so beautiful inside and out no he did not have any work done on his beautiful face he's 72 now and I swear he looks only in his maybe forties or fifties he's still a handsome man I hope he reads this cuz I love you Matt L Jones turn elt on Elton the stupid machine I'm going to throw it out the window I have to go my battery is running low I've been Elton benjen I got to go I'm still standing
.
Goody goody gum drops.
Interview I've never seen! Great interview! Can't ever get too much Elton!
I think Bernie is awesome but I love Elton John's voice. I really love it when he says "Oh goodie goodie gumdrops I got four albums yippie." Made me laugh and his jacket is epic xD
They needed each other because without Bernie taupin there is no Elton John and without Elton John there is no Bernie taupin because Elton John can’t write the words and Bernie taupin can’t write the music
No Bernie then there is no Elton.
Elton has said as much, hasn't he?
@@thanksfernuthin Of course. Stands repeating though.
@@richardzoll4067, that's fair.
It was a match made in heaven. The both of them together.
This was a time period when these two were just great and producing amazing music. Wish it could have lasted just a little bit longer but all good things have to come to an end.
Bernie’s voice hasn’t changed a bit!
Elton IS the star- lets be real! bernie is/was a brilliant lyricist but elton is the genius, nice to see these unexpected uploads!!!!.
burt 1 hardly a “genius” but I know what you mean. However, if Bernie hadn’t met Elton, would Elton have been a “star”?
And if Elton didn't bring Bernie's words to life with his music and voice, would anyone have heard of Bernie?
I think both Elton and Bernie or genius there were good team let's put it that way let's not have the Bernie fans against Elton fans or the Elton fans against Bernie fans Elton John and Bernie taupin great team that's it I'm still standing
"we 've got four albums in the charts" Bernie wrote half of them ! Let him speak Elton. He is good at english !
Oh, Elton, you're so good at rambling... :)
3:30 Lmaoo bernie is like wtf...
I feel bad for Bernie trying to get a word in..lol
This is probably why they don't do interviews together.
Love how Elton mentions Jethro Tull. Tull are true legends, alongside sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin of course.
What is going on here? Is the interviewer making eyes at Bernie (who wouldn't - what a hottie), and Elton is jealously dominating the conversation?
Oh goody goody gumdrops 😂😂😂 that tickled me hearing that coming from Elton john’s mouth 😂😂😂
Well whenever poor Bernie gets a chance to talk…..😂😅!!!❤❤❤
It would have been nice to hear more of Bernie's thoughts and opinions since he did write much of what Elton sings. Too bad Elton repeatedly cut him off.
astranine it’s the coke ,,
astranine you hear it in the songs, that's why he's the lyricist.
Randi Addams he wasn't coking quite yet at this point.
Interviewer: Tell me, handsome Bernie, about your thoughts on this new song.
Bernie: Well, I....
Elton: Ask ME! I'M the star! ME!
hahahahahaahahahahahahaha
Marta Bergen well, he is...
Amazing ❤💯🙏👍🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️👍💯
Bernie actually has a much bigger ego than Elton. Bernie also has a truckload more pretentiousness than Elton.
hahaha
Bernie and Elton genius 😍😍😍😍😍😍💋💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Elton is the recording star, not Bernie. Please try to keep in mind that Elton does most of the work, even Bernie alluded to that. He has to write the music, sing it, & play it.
No. Elton is not THE genius. What's genius is the synergistic creation of their coalesence. One would never have flourished without the other. Divinely intervened I'm sure. And that fact is sorely overlooked although they did show it in the movie they never really revealed the significance of that.
Yep I Love Elton John but no Bernie no Elton John
heh heh ... that interviewer had himself some 'cool grass' before this interview ..... XD
You simply JUST don't here Interviews like this anymore...where the artists/writers are down to earth-sincere and innocent and truthful.-It's from a time lost forgotten.
Happy 70th Bernie!
Why is elton saying "I've written, I've written" don't you mean "we've written?" He's always been a bit of a Queen eh? Bernie's a class act. Then again it's elton s voice and soulful renditions and music to Bernie's lyrics that rocketed them to superstardem.
When He says I’ve written he is referring to the music. Music=Elton Lyrics=Bernie
" ...I think we're going to do a simpler album next time..."
I'm LMAO in hindsight. 😂
honkey chateau was next. great album
@@mikeypie24 It was certainly a great album. In some sense it did rely more on a band configuration than so much orchestral accompaniment like Madman. Honky Chateau features a lot of percussive, chordal piano in the forefront of arrangements, which contributes a feel like live performance. It's a pounding piano record for much of the material - a strong point of the album.
What date is this from?
1971
I think they said 1987 I can't swear to it but I think they said 87
@@nigelguliver3625 thank you for correcting me Nigel you're right it is 7 to 1 because your cruise 87 yeah they would look way different I stand corrected thanks nige I'm still standing
Eileen Ryan 1971
very early 1972 ... probably January of '72
i wanted to hear Bernie Taupin speak, any links?
Did you watch parts 1 and 2? He may have spoken on those 2 parts, can't remember now.
LMAO 🤣
I dont think Elton took the stage at all. (In my best imitation of the proper you know, English). I think raaather, it was great to heah from both. You want to learn or hearn more of Bernie, well, by jove, he's got an Instagram account, podcasts like crazy. By God, if you You Tubed this, Google "Bernie Taupin"!! Just type in his name sweatiee! Jolly ho.
I kept waiting for EJ to play 'Star' to watch Bernie but he doesn't play it in this clip as the description says. Where can I find that?
OMG Bernie was so handsome ! More than Jamie Bell who portrays him in Rocketman. I wonder how Elton who is gay, did not fall in love with him.
hahahahahahaha yeah I thought the same
I think he was in love with him. Unrequanted. I think this is implied in the movie. It may be why their music was so amazing. Elton voice and intonation back then was razor sharp and crystal clear.
@Raura Chiang it's a very intimate relationship not in the sexual sense
He did; and Bernie kindly, but Firmly, let Elton know that he's hetero ... happened in 1968
@@groofoot I think the movie had Elton kissing him and Bernie bursting out laughing and that really happened.
You should know Bernie nad Elton They are true brothers and best friends becouse Elton had and has only Bernie. Elton did not have true brothers or sisters he is and Was very shy emotional boy so he met a lot of bad person on His live.
Elton Has good heart
I I I I I I I I -- LISTEN to elton it's not we we we - he actually says I wrote this song and i wrote that song with Bernie standing right there --
elton says I not WE...over and over...elton tends to be way nicer to bernie when he is not present but when they are together elton takes over and cuts off bernie and can be rude to him...
Dean Martin OR, and this is sometimes the case with people, Elton being shy and nervous just goes into overdrive chatter. I do that in interviews with my wife and I REALLY don't mean to. I am just nervous and afraid that I will not get all of my points across so I just talk and talk.....My wife Venus is good at cutting me off as well and is a more relaxed speaker so it all works out.
100% agree! Elton loves Bernie! Almost like brothers! They've said so themselves. Obviously what Elton said here is unintentional. Elton is quite shy of a man behind those shades.
Can anybody help I’m looking for parts 1 & 2 ?
Are you havin a laugh?
Click on jezzyby47 above, then click on videos and scroll down until you find them. All 3 parts are there. Click on load more if they are not on the first page.
@rocketvon or shy more like it..
me too
lol
All I heard in this interview from Elton john was ME ME ME ME ME. I I I I I . My MY MY MY Never mentioned Bernie.
If Bernie could have had Elton's talents...then we would have never known Elton John ;-O
Elton needs Bernie, I don't know if Bernie would need Elton.
@@Carolalvarenga Elton won an Oscar and Tony without Bernie. Bernie wrote We Built This City without Elton.
Elton seems like he 's done very well even apart from Bernie. He can play fantastic improvised melodies without singing. He can sing and play any song without a problem. He gives life to anybody's words.
Bernie wrote some song's in the late 80's. The lyric's, the tune and he sang them. They were pretty good. I was impressed.
@@rop888 Bernie cowrote We Built This City...there are about 4 people who are credited with the lyrics. Bernie is Elton's sole lyricist on most of Elton's songs and on all of Elton's hit songs... (excluding The Lion King songs).
Elton is a snob.
