On the conversation with the Tea House (brothel) Madame, that's actually the most important scene in the episode. She was very subtly bargaining with Toranaga for a district to start her "Guild of Courtesans" in exchange for her silence since she very clearly saw he was still up to something, and the fact that his forces were exposed wasn't just some careless mistake.
It was a great scene because it didn't pander to the audience. You either got it or you didn't.
. This show does a great job of spelling out the plot but not insulting the viewers' intelligence. For example, look at episode 5 when Blackthorne gave Fujis swords to Toranage. A subtle way of saying Blackthorne understands the speech by Mariko earlier. Good stuff.
Her ending tge interview on her own terms and almost being the one to dismiss Toranaga was just pure chefs kiss Lady Gina mic drop@@chadnine3432
@@joshrandor4371 yes there were several characters in this episode trying to remind Blackthorne about protocols the audience knows he was already aware of. He wouldn't have had that outburst at the end if it didn't serve some purpose for Toranaga.
@derps0n839 Also, he said,'You're all dead' pretty perfectly in Japanese. Like he'd been practicing. The fun thing? I could be totally wrong. 😀
This is amazing. This is why you don't skip. I, too, have grown to be obsessed with pens and sponges. Among other things as I age. Well done, you two. Don't be a filthy skipper, people.
There are typical mediocre sons who cannot live up to their brilliant fathers’ legacies.
And then there is Nagakado…
Nagakado enacted Operation Crimson Pond
Toda Hirokatsu, known as Buntaro, is Fuji's uncle. He is the only living son of Toda Hiromatsu (the old dude). Hiromatsu's second son, Fuji's father, died during the war in Korea. Also, the thing with Buntaro and Mariko isn't so black and white. Although he came to the point where he ab***d her, in the beginning, he was truly into her but she looked down on him. After her father's death, she was fixated on her urge to end her life and end her shame. That's why she didn't saw the bigger picture and that's why Toranaga finally got mad at her. Also, the way Blackthorn acted after Toranaga's decision shows that he didn't learn that his words have meaning - sometime earlier he promised Toranaga that he will be on his side no matter what fate brings. Taking this into consideration, was Buntaro wrong in his judgment? In the book Blackthorn sided with Toranag because it was in his interest as well as it was in Toranaga's.

Craziest shit ever... Shocked me more than Jozens death
So eery too, the boy is searching for glory the whole time, hoping to prove himself and if he dies to die a "beautiful" death but instead gets taken out by fabric and a rock. Cruel fate.
@@Randomyoutubecommenter I just know it must have hurt like a mf... I've had bad headaches but that type of pain is another level
Good god what a crazy ending that was.
The boy was so eager for battle that he didnt pay attention to his footing, such hunger for glory but got the complete opposite. Brutal.
Toranaga has no doubt ordered Anjin to prepare his ship, collect his remaining forces from Edo (and Anjin's own) men to assault Osaka just as Toranaga and his forces are eventually escorted there as prisoners.
Seppuku was performed traditionally by disemboweling oneself. It was considered one of the most painful ways to die and could take days of agony. In many cases, out of respect, an attendant would be offered to decapitate the person directly after they cut open their stomachs to spare them the ordeal that was to follow.
Edit: Also, yes Buntaro referred to Hiromatsu as 'Father' back in Osaka when he visited to ask Mariko to meet with Toranaga. Fuji was also established as Hiromatsu's granddaughter and Buntaro her uncle.
For dog digestion: try adding a dog probiotic powder to his food. It replaces bad bacteria with healthy bacteria in the gut. Worked for my dog whenever he had a bad stomach.
This is only story. Toranaga's brother kept royal to him and Toranaga's son became 2nd Shogun in real history.
I think this story is slightly based on Japanese history. In real history, Toranaga’s eldest son was ordered to “seppuku”. And third son became second Shogun.
@@user-dt1zh1gf8b it's not just slightly, the book is largely based alot on japanese history, sure some parts have been changed, but for the most part it's accurate to historical events, and the show even more so. There were some mistakes in the book which the show had corrected also.
Fuji referred to Buntaro as uncle when he first arrived in John's house, and Mariko has been referred to as Hiromatsu's daughter in law before
I assumed that uncle was used as an appellation - Steejo
If you think about it, there are actually two crucial pieces of information to gather from this episode to guess what is about to happen:
1. The meeting with the Tea House lady, in which it is hinted at that Toranaga has foreseen and planned around all that has happened, and the woman figured this out and kinda "blackmailed" him into giving her the house in Edo.
2. The fact that Toranaga is called the master of trickery, even in episode 1. This fact is again reminded to us by John during the meeting at the end, where he "mocks" him as master of trickery.
Either way, some Uno reverse shit by Toranaga is about to hit in episode 8 I am assuming.
8:51 I'm about to finish season 2 of The 100 right now. You're right. It's GREAT! If you want too see a good reaction to it, check out Rob & Trin React. They do two episodes at a time and they're great!
15:20 "The man who passes the sentence should swing the swodr." - Ned Stark
37:37 She knows who the heir's baby daddy is and it ain't the Taiko! I think it's Toragama and he knows his "son" will be the heir and carry on his bloodline.
Torananga definitely has a plan, he was pretending to consider his options. I wondered if Saeki (who I love) was in on it but I don't think so now. Toranaga is so clever, he is always planning ahead, but he doesn't tell anyone and that keeps causing problems. Poor stupid Nagakado thought he was helping, if only he knew the plan. You can see other characters getting uneasy, Yabushige is always on the fence and I think it might bite Toranaga in the arse
This is not the final episode of the season, there are 3 more
I never said it was the end of the season. - Suzy
No, I know, but another poster thought it was the end and after making it clear to them that it wasn't in the comments, I just wanted to make it clear to everyone that it was not the finale, Been a very long day-LOL@@SuzySteejo
@SuzySteejo the flashback to Toranaga 1st battle takes place in the year 1554 the 16th century Toranaga was 12 years old at the time. there was the idea of teens having a carefree youth didn't exist in the 16th century both in Japan at the time and in Western countries such as Scotland where your from
@@SuzySteejoduring the same time that Toranaga won his 1st battle in the year 1554 in Japan at age 12 years old. In Scotland where you guys are from the Scottish Reformation was taking place. Mary Queen of Scots became Regent
Damn gotta feel for buddy Buntaro
Suzy such a sweetheart so disappointed with what happened to Nagakado 😅❤
Toranaga's son, Nagakado, romanticizes war and death but the grognards like his father and perhaps even his uncle know what's up
Suzy & Steejo, Did Toranaga not know that his brother was coming with a large army? It also means his brothers realm is not so well protected and as we know there are bandits everywhere. Did Toranaga have a quiet word with Fujiko's husband before his meeting with the council in ep.1? People talk when they pillow, those secrets will now go to Toranaga. Toranaga's son has now won his father more time to have the funeral. Toranaga did'nt say how fast he would travel to Ishido, it could take weeks. The plot thickends. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Suzy! Steejo! Your doggy- is he eating again yet?
Does your dog still wag his tail and get happy and excited about stuff?
10:35 like the sound of when you spit I say
Cutting off an enemy's head isnt disrespectful to the samurai
Well, technically it kind of is? Yes the head taking ceremony is a big part of Samurai culture. The whole point of it is taking the enemy’s head as a trophy to boast of your achievements and to get rewarded for it. Off course the enemy having your head as a trophy is something you wouldn’t want, in fact, when some daimyo would commit seppuku they would order their men to hide their heads so the enemy couldnt find it. For example, Otani Yoshitsugu ordered his men to hide is head after he committed seppuku at the Battle of Sekigahara. If they didn’t want people to find their heads, off course them having it is kind of meant to be a disrespect to the dead enemy. That being said, they still did make their heads look presentable through make up and cleaning them, but I think thats more about the reward than actually caring about being respectful to the dead person.
@@TheGhost-fk4eo yes, but I couldn't be arsed writing all that to he honest
@@leonrussell9607 fair enough
Toranaga surrendered so he could be escorted to Osaka, means he will get there unharmed🎉 There must be spies within Osaka working for him.
So happy to have found you two. Proper crack me up ❤😂 love from the east coast 🏴
..here's a twist as this story is based on RL. The Taiko's previous heir was his nephew. One of the rumors was that the nephew was used to impregnate Lady Cha Cha (Ochiba), and then his entire branch of the family was executed!..Whether this was with the full knowledge or behest of either the Taiko or Ochiba is a matter of debate.
33:36 I'm calling it now man. John will definitely fuck that Ishido ship up.
Older dogs need different food due to their digestive tract aging. We feed our older dog chicken broth, white rice, and lean protein. Like chicken hearts
We make big batches in a crock pot and freeze them
Oh yay, a comment of mine sort of got a shout out in the intro. It felt so good now I’m tempted to be rude to goad Suzy and Steejo into mocking an over-serious comment
I watch the outros 🙌
They're too funny to not watch EVERY SECOND of their reactions!
What an ending to a great series!
There are 3 more, this is not the finale
@Erratas0701its a limited series based on a book, only one season
This is what happens with the real good series. They don´t need to milk the cow obscenely, like GoT, the greatest dissapointment ever seen on TV.@Erratas0701
Just a footnote it's called shabaku where they cut their guts then to lessen their agony someone cuts off their head it is a show of honor hence the saying to fall on your sword

Can you please stop saying “Sudoku” for “Seppuku”? Samurai playing the game pops up in my head every time you say that. 😂😂😂
I think toranaga and his brother are working together and just not telling anybody but blackthorn the plan
I don’t think so my friend because brother toranaga You can see him happy, and he said, ' where the fun is, he wanted a more dramatic death.'You can see him happy, and he said, ' where the fun is, he wanted a more torturous death.'

Toranaga should have accepted Saeki's offer of a province - in exchange for all the rest of the Japans!
Surely you don't truly believe he meant that.
@@mahelnapo8385 Why not. He would have taken whatever was best for himself.
@@manzell he is already a regent. He already has that 😭. That was all part of the joke asking for izu
@@mahelnapo8385 I mean 2nd behind Toranaga for real is a lot better than being a 5th as a goon. He'd have to know he was ten times more disposable to the other regents as Toranaga was. I mean, since we know this isn't the end of the conflict I'll assume that Saeki will find out the hard way that his allies aren't too dedicated to him.
@@manzell you're not wrong. My guess is when toranaga was away after escaping Osaka he already made a deal with his brother. Rather than a siege there would have been a battle from within the castle. But we will see next week.

Well that's a sh*t way to die
Im grasping at straws here but I feel like this episode is a total misdirect, hearkening back to the switcherooo on episode 3.
1. why the heck was Buntaro and Mariko asking their "Last request" to Toranaga? Especially after the reveal of the last episode, it seems dissonant.
2. Then there's the part where Blackthorne speaks rudely to the war assembly in the end but was allowed to just walk even with his titles, probably because he is a barbarian... There must be an exit strategy, as before walking out, Blackthorne names Yabushige, and Nagakado (both trained to handle the cannon regiments).
3. Looking at everyone's expression, Mariko does not seem to surprised, or more importantly, too concerned about the outburst.
4. And also there's the convo with Gin. If they were really about to be wiped out, why did she make those requests, unless she knows something that everyone else don't know.
5. Also, no way Nagakado could just barge his way in into the willow-world like that. Either he was acting independently, or he acted on orders, but his or his uncle's death bought some time.
6. Nagakado entered the willow world AFTER Gin had that interesting conversation with Toranaga, requesting for land in Edo to create what will be the Yukaku district. Coincidence? Was it Nagakado who is supposed to infiltrate? Is even this just a misdirect?
6.1 Nobutatsu is a VIP. No way Nagakado could enter through the front gate without him being directed. And if it’s a back door, he has to have been let in.
7. Why is it that some of the issues already addressed in the previous episode being repeated in this one? Unless they were being repeated because there are a new eyes watching?
You were doing well, until you started swearing at your audience, right at the beginning. You lost my like and I stopped watching the reaction.
Man getting chopped in half? Totally fine.
Woman getting punched by husband? Acceptable.
People swearing? Heaven forbid!
I'm sure there are plenty of other reactors out there who cater to this distinctly American moral compass.
Cheers
