“Belt of Truth” by Andrew Downing

Belt of Truth was an absolute battle to pull off as a one man band trying to please serious jazz critics. This track was written on piano. The first track recorded was piano with a drum machine waltz to play to. Next I recorded rhythm guitar and then lead guitar. Drums were next and the battle truly intensified during this process. A speedy and spacious cool jazz waltz is much easier live in a group of talented jazz artists…trust me…I know from doing it a lot on drums. The drum machine was erased after the real drum session. The bass track came last…as usual for me. I’m happy with the overall result. My brain started sending smoke out my ears after the drum recording session. Those type of sessions make me wonder why in the world I try to do what I’m doing. I hope you enjoy this jazz tune. Please spread to your jazz loving friends !!
