    We make ours with the homemade spice tea added to it. I've never seen it done without the tea. I'll have to try it this way one year.

    • @karlianys1
      @karlianys1 Год назад +1

      @Ariel, I agree with you. Traditional coquito should always have "the homemade spice tea" in it. But FYI coquito recipes are usually different and can vary among the generations that live outside the island. As a local my belief is that maybe some information of the ingredients could have been lost between the generations or some did not live on a country with supermarkets that provided what they needed and they just had to fix the recipe accordingly. By bringing this up I don't mean any disrespect to noone in the diaspora whatsoever. Every day we learn something new. And coquito without "the spice tea" and the Coco Lopez coconut cream doesn't taste the same.
      🍾 For whoever is interested in adding the "tea" that @Ariel_530 mentioned. It is made of 1 cup of water and aprox. 3 or 4 cinnamon sticks, 8 cloves, 2-3 stars anis, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder (or about 3/4 inch of peeled ginger root finely cutted) and 1/3 teaspoon of nutmeg or allspice. *The amount can vary depending on your taste. Let it boil for about 5 minutes and then let it cool before draining it. Add 1/2 cup of that deliciously fragrant tea to your ingredients on your next traditional, nutella, pistachio or pumpkin coquito and you'll thank me later. Always serve chilled and enjoy. 😀

    Hello busymamy. can you tell me please, the brand of the vanilla? I can't ever find one I really like or love. A couple times I used to get homemade vanilla somebody used to bring from Honduras but didn't get the chance to ask for the recipe. and it didn't taste of alcohol at all like the vanilla I had tried. Specially McCormick is more alcohol than nothing else.

    Hello I am a Half puerto Rican from Canada that is wanting to make Coquito for my first time this Xmas (I have never actually tasted it but we decided to make Pernil and coquito), but have run into a big problem...I can get most ingredients except Cream of coconut (they only have coconut cream and milk which google says are not the same) and I read another recipe that said if you do not have cream of coconut you could use coconut extract ... I know not having the Cream of Coconut probably ruins it all, but does anyone have any tips how I could still make it taste how coquito is supposed to taste?

    • @thebusymami
      @thebusymami  4 года назад +1

      Hola! You will be ok without cream of coconut you it just helps with thickness as well, but don’t worry about it and don’t stress the flavor will be great still with just coconut extract to add more coconut flavor. You can mix all the ingredients you have and taste it if it needs more add more coconut milk 💕 you got this! And Pernil is 🤤 so food! Sending you all the good luck vibes! I know I called it Coquito, and i write Puerto Rican egg nog because people who’ve never had it can have an idea since it’s creamy and had around Christmas como el coquito se disfruta. :)

      I know I say it’s Puerto Rican egg nog so people understand the type of drink a sweet holiday thick milk based drink :) I was born in Puerto Rico and have been having it my whole life so I know :) however my dad does sometimes make it with two egg yolks and it’s pretty good too!

    The video is good minus the sucking of your fingers.

      Thanks! I realized that this year, no one has made that comment until this year which makes sense because germs this year are high. Side note I made this for me and my husband and we drank it all and I didn’t actually touch the liquid with my fingers and washed my hands before I stored it. So all food there, but I am thinking I have to refilm it this year because this is the 5th comment in a few days about it and I posted it a year ago :/ thanks for watching! Sorry about the licking 💕

      Hi! Yes you can but it will not last as long glass makes it last longer. But if it’s for something you’re serving in a few days you’re all good! :)

    Don't lick your fingers when you doing a video demonstration of preparing food or drink. Not sanitary. Don't get mad at me for bringing this out.

      This was before Covid and this video had been up for over a year and since now more people are looking at it it’s sticking out more. Sorry if it bothered you. It was a batch I made for my family at home so it wasn’t for public, but I get why it might bother people. Sorry.
