Adrienne I wonder how does/did your mom feel going from a small NY apt to her big house? I would love to hear her talk about how it felt for her to move up and not really struggle like before .. This is so inspiring 💛🙏🏾 all love Joanna💕
I'm Haitian and we make something similar, we call it KREMAS. We drink it during the holidays but also drink it on special occasions too such as weddings and birthdays. Sooo delicious 😋
Adrienne it’s a blessing that you get to have these videos of your mom making things. My mom passed this year and I miss her cooking so much! I learned to do a couple things the way she did but still not the same. Continue to cherish your mom! God bless!
I love your mom! She is amazing! She needs her own cookbook or a cooking RUclips channel. I would definitely watch her. I like her teaching skills. You should sell your mom's drink
I love that you embrace your puertorican heritage. but you’re also Ecuadorian and you never talk about that. I’d love to see you embrace that side of your heritage as well!
I’d love to see more of her Ecuadorian side too. I think it’s because she grew up in NY with her Puertorican family (also a very big Puerto Rican community in NY) so that’s what she’s more familiar with. Her dad was the only Ecuadorian from his side that grew up here in the us.
She does talk about it. But yes she does talk about Puerto Rico more I think is because she’s much closer to her mom. She mentioned before that she is now closer to her dad. I would Love to see more videos with him and her probably making ceviche or other Ecuadorian food. Or Perhaps going down memory lane when she used to go to Ecuador for vacation when she was younger. Maybe a video with Claudette also and her dad talking about their Ecuadorian side. 💛💙♥️
In Trinidad we have a similar drink around Christmas time called punche creme....it’s basically the same ingredients minus the coconut milk and with the addition of more spices such as nutmeg...so amazing how the Caribbean cultures are sooo connected❤️
My daughter is 1/2 Puerto Rican and 1/2 African American. Now that she's 20 years old , I'm going to be teaching her how to make our traditional coquito. 🇵🇷 She's so excited to learn , and I'm so excited to bond over our traditions. Much love to my island family ! ❤️
I like that you went for more of a natural look here. For whatever reason of running short on time or anything, it’s nice to see people on screen bare faced. Natural beauty shines through always
When mamma has the time, it would be amazing to have someone film her making the coquito, using the actual coconut and drawing the milk out of it. I just like to learn authentic methods, as well as 'quick and easy'. Thanks Adrienne and Mamma
Swapping out one can of sweetened condensed milk with the crème of coconut would let you use the crème of coconut without it being too sweet, because it’s basically just sweetened condensed coconut milk.
Your Mom is so, right the the traditional way is the coconut 🥥 but, it's such a hassle. To this day my mom she from Arroyo PR. has been making it every year around with the coconuts 🥥🇺🇸🇵🇷 and I love your mom simple recipe anyway muchísimas bendiciones para ti y tu familia Feliz Navidad 🎅🏼🎄⛄🇺🇸🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
This is so nostalgic and bittersweet for me because it reminds me of my Grandma, who passed 2 years ago, and all the parties that she used to make and serve this at.. Such beautiful memories! Thank you, as always, for sharing your family with us all, Adrienne!! xo 💗🥺
I’m sorry I cannot with the little cup. Fill my big ol cup to the top porfavor 🤣🤣. I look forward to this time of year. I’m Guatemalan and my husband is Puerto Rican. Give me my tamal chapin and my bottle of coquito please. Momma is happy 😂😂
These look so bomb. My boyfriend was telling me he had them once at a friend's house and it's one of his favorite holiday drinks other than eggnog. I'll have to surprise him and make these for him and my family. Thank you for sharing your mom's recipe, Adrienne! Much love and God Bless you and your familia 🥰💕
Just finishing following this recipe. And it is soooo good!!! I added 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and a 1 tsp of vanilla extract cause why not. I also used captain morgan spiced rum
🎶 “but her aunts were wildin’ out!”🎶 🤣 it’s like my friends mom who every Christmas we are waiting like 👀👀 for our bottle of Sorrel or her carrot juice! 🇯🇲 so Bomb!
In Trinidad we have a cream alcoholic drink as well called Ponche de Créme that has alottttt and we do them big ass glasses. 🤣 I think I will try your mom's Coquito recipe and carry a few bottles to my Xmas office lime.
So many versions of coquito, your mom's version is the most traditional, love it! I've had pistachio coquito, nutella coquito, non dairy all coconut milks coquito, and definitely always go back to the roots like your mom. I live in Florida so lots of islanders bring their own version and I don't mind trying them. 👍🏽 Thanks for sharing our Puerto Rican heritage. ❤
I love watching her video because they make me feel all warm and homely inside. Makes me look forward to the future when I have my own family and husband. Also love the bond between herself and her mother. ❤️ love you Adrienne. Unproblematic and boogie with it!
I make coquito for Christmas and I'm from Chile :) I know it's not necessarily my culture, but the way I see it, we're honoring our latino neighbors. Your mommy is the sweetest :)
I don't know you guys if its only me, people with no make up/ very minimal make up always look younger than when they have full make up on. The face usually has some kind of innocence to it which you can't see when you glammed up.
Thanks am try this recipe, I grew up in a Christian household, but my aunt made it, n we loved it as we got older my sister made with the coconut 🥥 delicious. I will try you mom's recipe thanks for sharing 😋
Adrienne I moved to LA not to long ago and they don’t know about Coquito!!! Like what!!! I am originally from Chicago and Boriquas are everywhere !! I love it!
So I just made Mama nilda's coquito for my mom while listening to your Christmas album and your corritos and let me tell you first of all my mom fell in love with your voice and your ability to sing Christian music and salsa so beautifully and second of all tell Mama nilda she nailed it my mom and my dad loved the coquito and I even put some shreds of fresh coconut on top of it so thank you. Your mom is the freaking best ❤️. Please tell her ADRIANNA said THANK YOU so much for sharing this recipe!!! And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your amazing familia 🥰😍💖.
So lucky..we hit a brick wall when we try to research my mother's background. literally, there isnt any record of my late grandmother's birth. Which I have heard is common in black families. You are So blessed you have that info Mrs. A!
I understand what you mean. I've done a small search nothing drastic but I too hit a brick wall. I believe (like my grandpa) alot of us back in a certain era, didn't have a birth certificate which is unfortunate💜
True Puerto Rican Style normally don't use eggs some may add anise & cloves in the cinnamon boil like tea then mix but my Grandma used Coconut Rum & a bit of Bourbon. Love you Adrienne & the family.
Omg! I used to work at the airport and for Christmas season I would bring coquito an put it on coffee cups and would drink it my other boricuas! 😄😄😄😄one of them has passed away, and those are the best memories I have with her!
Your sister is the most beautiful human being and I don’t even know her. I watch your videos and I can tell she is the nicest soul and she is also hilarious! 😂
I love holiday traditions too I remember as a little girl growing up my parents making egg nog for the holidays with no alcohol and we will enjoy them in little wine glasses too as we sing, dance open presents with mom and dad. Now that I lost my dad it brings tears to my eyes when I have this during the holiday season with my love ones.
In Aruba, we have Ponche Crema.🇦🇼 I didn't like it when I was younger. I moved to the Netherlands 7 years ago. Now it doesn't feel like Christmas until I have a glass of Ponche Crema. It's weird to think about all the things you miss when you don't live at home anymore.
PLEASE MAKE THE TRADITIONAL VERSION with the grated coconuts and the Puerto Rican Rum 😋 That’s the way my Abuelita used to make it, so light and delicious. My sister Arlene & I were only 14 years old and would sneak into the kitchen around 2:00 in the morning and steal a couple of drinks. Until one night unbeknownst to us, our DAD was spying on us and thought it would be funny to take his belt off and strike it on the kitchen floor. We jumped 2 feet in the air and spilled our “ COQUITO all over us 😩. I don’t think I ever saw that man laugh so hard in his life. Good Memories 😂😂😂
Thank you so much for the videos! Your such an inspiration and your so beautiful even without makeup and so is your mom. I love older women that cook those good home cooked meals there is nothing like home cooked meals or drinks. Can we please get a video of what you realistically eat in 24 hours please? Happy holidays and keep the videos coming!
I recently learned how to make coquito and is definitely one of my new favorite drink. I have been introducing it to family and friends that they have never had it before. Next time I will modify current recipe by boiling the water with cinnamon and use your mom’s recipe. Thank your mom for sharing her coquito recipe. 😀
Aww thank you so much for this! I miss my mom so much every day, but especially during the holidays. When we were younger people would call my mom to see if she was making pasteles and they would place orders of at least a hundred per person and we would help her grate everything by hand. I miss that so much. I was wondering if you had the recipe for the coquito with the egg included also? Thank you again!
Awww I love when you have your mom and sister on your episodes! I grew up knowing about coquito and I honestly can’t wait to try and make my own this year 💁🏽♀️ thank you for sharing this recipe with us! Love that I can relate by being Puerto Rican as well lol also I love that your mom made it without eggs such a easier process to making it 🙌🏽🔥❤️

Swapping out one can of sweetened condensed milk with the crème of coconut would let you use the crème of coconut without it being too sweet, because it’s basically just sweetened condensed coconut milk.
For those that aren't that big of a fan of rum, amaretto (almond liqueur) is amazing in coquito (and eggnog).
I'm Jamaican and we make a drink called Sorrel. Love everything about Caribbean culture, I'm definitely try this Coquito 💕
I’m Guyanese and we make delicious sorrel!
My fam is Jamaican and I’m just not a fan of sorrel
And rum cream is similar to coquito

Yes, it’s basically the same. We have such unique heritage and culture!
I was thinking the same thing, punch a cream from Trinidad 🇹🇹.
Our Caribbean culture is the absolute best
