- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1989 GMC Sierra W/T. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this truck designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
I picked up this exact model a few days ago, it needs around 1000 in repairs, but it runs and drives like a dream, it's got dual exhaust straight pipes too.
My 89 GMC Sierra SL 4X4 with long bed, has carpet, all gauges, a totally different dashboard. I just had the interior completely redone. Next is body work and paint, new mirrors, and bed finish. I had a new 5.7 l engine installed which now has approximately 80,000 miles. Traveling Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, S and N Dakota, Illinois, California to Missouri and after 11 years, Missouri back to California. No issues what so ever, until now, I need to install a new a/c compressor and the new California required a/c fluid. When I got back to California with it passed smog the very first time. If you get the idea I love this truck, you are right. BTW, I am a woman.
+Beverly Jamison -Correction on the dashboard, it is somewhat like the one above but only it the style of it, all the radio, din, speakers, a/c-heat switches are different. It has power windows and locks. Of course, being a 4X4, it has the shift on the floor. It also was a HD set up with the RV towing package. When I changed out the engine, I have since replaced a good bit of the original parts as the such as distributor, i.e.. itself has 200,000 miles.
Beverly Jamison These days you are VERY lucky to have one!
yyyyyyep
Beverly Jamison my 1988 GMC Sierra is just like his 89 I also have a 1996 Chevy z71 extended cab
Awesome song, I remember hearing youth of the nation on the radio riding in a Tahoe with the Bose stereo it sounds amazing
I think its awesome too! It fits in with this truck
What song?
I love my 89', less than 98,000 on it, five speed manual of course. I plan to run it for ever.
I don't see many of those generation GMC & Chevy fullsize pickups with just the single headlamps on the roads anymore like I use to back in the day, but the ones with the dual headlamps I still see.
These truck are selling for 2-3k now. Put $700-$1000 of work into them and they run great
My dad had this exact truck but his was red and had charcoal interior. Loved that truck.
@nikothecrazygreek Its TBI(Throttle Body Injection)
Thats not a carburetor.
Wow, I've seen and owned a bunch of those 88-00 GMT400 trucks, but that's the first time I've seen that dash cluster. Seen the manual HVAC controls in several base models, but that instrument gauge is a new one for me. Cool.
Gm used that gauge cluster from 88 into the early 90s then they went to the needles fpr the speedometer and gas gauge and stuff.
Very nice older truck! Thanks for another great video Kyle!
These older Sierra's are really nice cars and they ride well and the interior is immaculate.
Sweet truck! You saying "1989 GMC..." made me remember about going to see a 1989 BMW 735i in 30 mins! Haha! If you hadn't said that I might have forgotten! And at a price like $447 you DON'T want to forget! :) I'll get him down to at least $400 though!
Apparently that's not the W/T trim, despite being it an 1989 GMC Sierra C1500 it has the SL trim package which is the base trim. The Chevy C/K Pick-Up models had the W/T trim which based on the Cheyenne trim. The W/T trim didn't come out until 1990 which had the black grilles, black bumpers, and W/T 1500 decals. The W/T trim was only available for the regular cab Chevy C/K 1500 Pick-Ups with the 4.3 Liter V6. 1988-1989 model C/K Pick-Ups had the Cheyenne trim/Sierra SL trim as the base trim.
Idk I think the wt meant walk through j/s
@@withrowknows no W/T means work truck brainiac!
I like W/T's b/c you can ding and scratch it up without having to worry about looks!! Those rims definitely suited for a truck like this. As suggested by the trim name: work hard and play hard
Another great video, enjoyed see something like this. Nice looking truck, this is what a truck is suppose to be about, now trucks are made so dainty and look like they are never used for what they were made for.
wow I'm surprised it even has a gas gauge
Gas gauges were introduced in 1922 so i would hope a 1989 would have one!
modern day base models would have power windows, locks, mirrors, and a basic radio. that shows how pampered luxury trims are
work trucks have heat,a steering wheel, blinkers and brakes......seldom even have a radio, its not necessary so it isnt included..
I have a 1998 with a v6. Work trim package. Love it !
love the late 80s early 90s GM trucks...not much power but reliable and easy to fix...TBI is a good system.
That's the kind of truck I've been looking for, but in the extended cab model.
Those generation GMC & Chevy fullsize pickups with just the single headlamps in extended cabs are very hard to find nowadays.
I want it
This is the most basic vehicle money could buy back in the day
When i turn sixteen i am going to buy a 1989 chevy silverado with broken horn I am so excited
looks like a clean TRK top and bottom
Nice Find Kyle , Those Engines Can Go Forever !
- Chad
thank, you for you're video.🙏

the 1988-2000 GMC Sierra was assembled in
Oshawa, Ontario
Pontiac, Michigan

Reshawndrick Has That Same Truck Parked Between Krystal’s 2003 Tahoe And 2002 Impala LS
Here in BRAZIL we call a car like this "PE DE BOI ",bull foot simple, ready to hard work!!.
I have 1989 gmc Sierra SLE short bed with the 5.7 engine
A couple grand into fixing it up and an lq4, and I bet it would be a fun little hot rod truck for not all that much money.
what a good old gm! the better chevs, gmc, olds, pontiac, buick's were the 80s early 90s i really like the older gms very basic, dependable, Reliable
I've got a 1989, 1500 4x4 short bed TRK.
Classic 80’s Sierra basic everything
Prob be my first truck
1988-1994 GMC Sierra Grille
actually 88 to 93 because they changed the grill in 94
Estoy ansioso de tener la chevrolet silverado 94
i have a 89 gmc sle with power locks and windows :)
I like this truck It's better then my 98' chevy malibo but my car has a 3.8 so it pretty fast Lol
also the valve guide seals are bad ... notice when he first started it it smoke for a second ... thats cus oil trailed down the valves cus they are bad then the oil was burnt and then the truck smokes for about 10-15 seconds ... other than that it sounds pertty damn nice ...
Just like my dads 4.3 SL.
Can u change the front end headlights and grille to a 95 version???
almost sounds like my dad's 1992 GMC Sierra with the original engine, it is getting a new engine soon, s, I don't know what it will sound like next
I'm not a GM fan I seen teardown and the lack of effort put into durability-how much metan can you forget? that said strictly for looks I love the gm "trucks" design all through 1947-1993. thanks for the video.
if u find a 1989-1993 gmc sierra sle i would really appreciate it.
@1bentley4ever 1988 was first year for that body
Is there a reason these types of Sierras (Silverados as well) have a different set of lights on the front? Either way, even for a work truck, this is decent.
That's what the W/T means - Work Truck. It was bare-bones trim level, and that's the reason for the single set of headlights rather than the separate high and low beams.
Love it!
looks lite scrap yard next for that truck
That truck looked like it been through hell and back.
Well a little ruff looking but just needs a little TLC. What looks to be a almost rust free undercarriage and only 116 thousand miles on It and new transmission, I think she Is ready to be put back to work!
Looks like my buddies 93 Chevy C/K
So base doesn't even have a seatbelt buzzer
Does that truck have heat and A/C?
GM trucks are number 1
can you review for some suzuki cars?
Music 😮😮😮Playing

What kind of rims are those?
can u do a old Dodge ram diesel
i would love it but i need 4x4
For what? So you can dump it off in a mudhole and call it junk like everybody else does?
روعه GMC
cant get more bland then this, this thing is in good shape for an 89. wouldnt be a bad first truck for a starting business.
Where can I get this grille from. Cant find it anywhere
Lmc truck or classic parts of America
sounds like the power steering pump is singing
Not a bad truck at all
Take it for a test drive
the two dislikes they prob own a pino
wow that old truck :D but those will run forever , just put oil in and it iwlll go
Cómo contactar a este vendedor en estados unidos
The headliner is missing
Is it 4-wheel drive?
No.
Dunkin KitKat.
it has ac it called rolling down the windows lol
That car has an ac called a 2-70, 2 windows down going 70 mph. Lol
As basic as it could get.
This trucks definition of "Basic" means no Temperature Gauge.
Go gm go gm
it is fuel injected you do not have to stomp on the gas
He does that a lot. But in this case, it might have been because he had to jump it and didn't want the starter to crank and drain the battery. Too bad, because the truck has the 4.3 engine, which was rare in the C/K trucks, and even more rare with automatic. A cold startup would have been nice.
2008 Honda Accord.
738 to 902.
no ac?
It had ac called a 2-70, 2 windows down at 70 mph. Lol
Naren why is a do that
Does anyone know if they came in a manual transmission?
Probably bc alot of these old trucks came with them
Nathan Parker My dad just got a 1988 GMC sierra 1500 and it has the 350 small block in it. It also has a 5 speed manual swap so it's a lot of fun to drive!
Yes, manual was standard. This is actually the first one I've seen with an automatic.
Yes, in these trucks, you could get a 5 speed manual (NV3500) or, until 1992, a getrag 4 speed manual.
Yes i have one manual 4x4 and v6 4.3
1987 Toyota Pickup.
whoa, that truck is really base. no a/c. no rear-view, etc.
737 to 941
thats a funny looking carborator
@MeInTheNewWorld Check out my trucks, I work the hell out of them, just got back from dumping 2.45 tons...
It's an 89 sierra 3500 dually, 350tbi muncie granny 4 speed(sm465) flatbed with stake sides.
As usual, Kyle doesn't know what he's doing. This truck is fuel injected, and he's pumping the damn gas pedal.
You sir dont know what you are talking about
@@fletcherbrockman6828 not sure if you're talking to riki or me, but I do know what I'm talking about. The 4.3 V6 has never had a carburetor.
@@davidneill6820 not entirely true, the engine in this truck is the LB4 option code 4.3 throttle body fuel injected V6 that was produced until 1996, but the early 4.3 V6 LB1 option code engines that were produced up until 1987, had a rochester 4 bbl carburator.
LMFAO
Maybe older cars get bluetooth
