Brookes Eggleston - Character Design Forge Procreate is great! I’ve been using it since I started drawing three years ago. I have two tips for you. One make your custom brushes, a RUclips called Zatransis has a awesome tutorial on how to make sketching pencil. And number two, get a matte screen protector. For the last month I’ve been using a cheap one off amazon and has improved my work flow tremendously. I just seemed to have a problem with the slick screen surface, which I never directly admitted too. Your journey into digital art will be a fun one!
hollie white absolutely, Procreate is designed from the ground up for touch input on the iPad. After getting used to it, it’s 100% more comfortable and quick to use than Photoshop ever was, and I used Photoshop for 10+ years daily before Procreate.
I haven’t got an iPad Pro BUT adobe is bringing out the full version of photoshop so I *mighy* just have to buy it. Procreate has just never really appealed to me, though the grid function is cool for drawing rooms but I'd love to give it a go!
You can install procreate on any apple iPad, or procreate pocket on I think any iPhone. But if you want to use the program with an apple pencil, you can use any iPad Pro, or the iPad 6th generation.
Coffee Base ☕ photoshop for iPad unfortunately most applications available on iPad aren’t available on iPhone just as how mobile apps aren’t always available on iPad. Well that’s what I’ve been told about full adobe programs coming to iPad

I really love watching you draw digitally, it has a relaxing feeling to it ;v; the child's illustration also made me the happiest, it has such a sweet vibe to that~! Good job always improving Jazza, you're inspiring!
For people wondering how Jazza can be so good even it's his first try on Procreate: The same drawing principles apply even the software and tech are different. Also the experience in Photoshop along with other apps is getting him a huge head start compared to people with less experience. Just practice systematically, don't give up and you'll soon notice that you've developed your skills a ton!
Yes it is professional, I find it to be so much more responsive and intuitive compared to photoshop, and you can take this anywhere, way under rated ! Even with the new I pad with photoshop I think it will never pass procreate
Right?! I never saw the appeal of using photoshop for anything other than editing and maybe graphic style art, but never painting and illustration like I do. I can't take photoshop with me but I can procreate.
Samantha Morales depending on your goal, if you want to work really professional and can make money with it than Phtoshop, want to still be able to make money but less expensive than Krita (free yay) Jazza has a whole video about this you should check it out its called ‘Cheap And FREE Photoshop Alternatives’
@@xander5762 ah thanks! I've been a traditional drawing artist for 14 years now and only recently (few months) have tried getting into digital art but I had a hard time trying to figure out photoshop on the huion monitor, I tried drawing on my surface pro a few months before that (but then my husband took it on deployment). I have an Apple pen, and when I learned that it shades the same way a crayon shades when you put the tip on its side, I started freaking out. Kept scribbling madly and shouting: the pen works like a pen! *THE PEN WORKS LIKE A PEN!*
People have been raving and screaming in my face about how great the apple pen and procreate is for the last few months so I'm happy to see a review from a youtuber I follow! Definitely don't have the budget or need for an ipad and pen right now but it's good for future reference
I love ProCreate! I've started using it more and more recently and it's allowing me to experiment with a lot of digital art techniques I hadn't thought to try before! Unfortunately I don't have a digital pen so it's more like "high tech finger painting" 😂 Edit: WOW! There is still so much I don't know about this app, holy shit 😅
Oddity Gaming same, I use Procreate all the time but I use my finger 😂 I got a normal stylist from the dollar store but I still find it easier to use my finger after using it for three years on Procreate
I love digital art. Only just discovered this. I always found traditional art very difficult and frustrating, but with digital art mistakes don't make me reach for the eraser every two seconds while im eating into the tooth of the paper. Also tutorials are sooooo much easier to follow, all the shakiness that I have is mitigated with digital art (no more squiggly lines when i dont want them). I can see how some might view this as "cheating" and "not real art", but i just get more joy out of it. Huge respect to traditional artists though
Jazza: Learns to draw cool stuff after minutes of exploring procreate. Others like me: Take months to understand what we can draw in procreate other than stick figures. Man I wish I could buy an ipad pro. But I'll learn and practice to draw better. Thanks Jazza!
It's not that Jazza is good at procreate, its that he has geneerally a very good understanding of character art, shading, anatomy, all that good stuff, so no matter what program hes in, be it procreate, ibis paint, Krita, photoshop, hell be able to create something cool
I'm not a professional artist, but I have drawn a lot of digital stuff for school in the past and as a hobby. I've used a lot of programs, but mainly photoshop and clip studio paint. I tried out procreate on my friend's ipad and within 20 minutes I had decided that I needed to buy an ipad because this program is far more intuitive than anything I've used for only 10 dollars (and as much as I dislike apple, I have to admit the apple pencil is built like it was meant to last for more than a year). This has only convinced me further that adobe is ripping people off. It's honestly crazy because I also noticed a pretty decent improvement in my art after switching as well. The ipad doubles as every notebook and folder for my engineering schoolwork now too.

@@TheMysticashes Not exactly impossible to learn blacksmithing during the course of a year. You may not become a master, but getting to a level where you can apply yourself, that is very much possible, even if a little difficult.
I was so excited that you finally tried it out Jazza. I kept suggesting it after the budget software review. Procreate is what I use the most to do my projects now. People are excited about photoshop on the iPad, hope they do it right. Procreate has come so far. They put manga studio on the iPad but way to much interface. Procreate I think nails it between interface, features, and drawing space. Please use it more and share your time lapses. You could check out mike Henry. Love his stuff too.
I've put in about 40 hours into learning procreate but watching how fast you picked everything up was astonishing... Like the last artwork of the superhero taking only about an hour is so cool and wild. More practice for me, thanks for the inspo! 😂👏
Good review. I'm a professional illustrator & designer and use Procreate for concept sketches and layouts that I later turn into vector art to use in games, apps & websites. I found that it is well worth the money.
Wow, what I could do with an iPad pro and Procreate.... I’ve had the same Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch Manga for 5 years now and could only dream of saving up enough spare money from commission work to afford this. (Hell, I cant even afford Photoshop LOL.) Love you Jazza and love your videos!! This just makes the drive for me to keep improving and saving even stronger. One day, I’ll save enough for a fancy tablet, but it won’t be today. 💖

RohitVinay Art Channel Wacom is the best option if you already have a pc and your software already, if you don’t have much gear the iPad Pro and apple pen combo is where you want to go. Cheaper overall setup cost.
@@nWsquidasaur cheaper? How much is it? I mean, my Wacom was +/- €75 and my (refurbished) computer +/-€299 (it was €200+). Krita is free and it came with virusprotection and a knockoff word. It is way too expensive for what it is (Nokia and Windows all the way. 😋). I would suggest to just try both things out (in a store or something like that). 😁 Have a nice day!
@F I had the simplest of Wacom and it was €75 euros, you can get second hand ones online as well. Plus, with me the whole gear (pc, Wacom and charger) fits in one case (computer case). They also have micro computers nowadays, so that might be a solution as well. 😁
I am on the IPad Pro and I still use IbisPaint lol I got it with my first Samsung tablet back in 2013 and got so used to it that I mastered almost every options available on the app :) a free app with a huge potential
Flo Remy I’m gonna be honest, you should use procreate instead. Ibis paint is great for some people that like, literally can’t afford a ten dollar app, but since you have the iPad Pro, I think up you should use procreate because of how intuitive it is.
Which is a company who ships out iPads and phones to Apple you’ll get 1 for free there if you work but you have to learn about electronics and stuff like that
Procreate is a tool that can enhance your drawings but you have to remeber, jazza is a professional artist, his whole career is art, and he’s studied anatomy and has probably decades of experience. Don’t compare yourself to others, compare yourself to your past self, and see how you have improved (ik it’s ten months later, but still)

Way to sound like an old man with that don’t know mobile nonsense. One day the tiny jazzas will be drawing with literal water vapor mid air and you’ll still be hugging that keyboard (Lol jk luv u)
honestly as someone who's justi starting to learn through youtube, no one so far had really mentioned how long they take on a piece of artwork so watching 20 minutes videos wher ethey produce incredible things was discouraging. I felt so down about myself that to took me hours to draw something that looks nothing like the professionals but hearing Jazza say some of his works here took hours gives me a bit of hope to keep going. I'm nowhere near his level but I will never be if I stop.
Honey, you know you shouldn't kinda like.. Compare yourself with other artists. Instead, compare yourself with you in the past and that can be from a month before. See the differences and learn and be happy with the fact how much you've improved in that one month.
Hi Jazza! Would you consider giving Corel Painter a go? Personally, I prefer it to Photoshop and I'd love to know what your impressions are. Much love from England
Phew, trustful jazza jumps in to save the day. You're one of the few people on the internet that does actual drawing reviews. Most people only review the specs and gives some pros and cons. While they often adress the feel of the pencil and lag as well as some personal experience, it is just a small portion of the video and not really enough to give the viewer a good overview and feel for the product.
Alrakia serpent haha I’m struggling with it lots I just got it and my I use the apple pen but the lines aren’t coming out smoothly... do u have any tips?

Brookes Eggleston - Character Design Forge Procreate is great! I’ve been using it since I started drawing three years ago. I have two tips for you. One make your custom brushes, a RUclips called Zatransis has a awesome tutorial on how to make sketching pencil. And number two, get a matte screen protector. For the last month I’ve been using a cheap one off amazon and has improved my work flow tremendously. I just seemed to have a problem with the slick screen surface, which I never directly admitted too. Your journey into digital art will be a fun one!

Is there any advantage to using Procreate over Gimp or Inkspot?
hollie white absolutely, Procreate is designed from the ground up for touch input on the iPad.

I’m so Happy for you :)
I actually use this Program to draw, for a really long time. And knowing the program well, I can tell that your still struggling with it
Alrakia serpent haha I’m struggling with it lots I just got it and my I use the apple pen but the lines aren’t coming out smoothly... do u have any tips?
jayfeather 100 i usually use my fingers to draw . For me it helps drawing a line really fast and then erasing the part you don’t need. You maybe will need to have to draw the same line over and over again, but the line should be smooth
Alrakia serpent ohhh ok thank you sm!
jayfeather 100 no Problem, fellow warrior.
@@alrakiaserpent this is the type of thing i like to see on the comment section😁.
