I haven’t understood a lot of the people coming for the glow, I would never expect them to come out with a matte or honestly even natural finish lol.. I personally love a natural finish as I tend to be more combination but I still want to get this so bad
Thank you, they are called GLOW Recipe. This should not be shocking or surprising, it should be expected. Even though I also like natural finish, I understand this whenever I buy these products.
I’m definitely going to try it since a lot of reviews are saying it doesn’t peel, isn’t irritating, no white cast. I have oily skin and I’m black so we’ll see how it goes!
I love a good healthy glow. I bought this as soon as I saw the post on trendmood and I honestly didn’t think $34 was that bad compared to what I’ve spent on other brands sunscreens.
I just remembered I’m waiting for the new Tatcha sunscreen to launch on Sephora and there’s is $60 for 50 ML so $34 by comparison is relatively inexpensive for a good sunscreen. The other Tatcha sunscreen that’s already out is $68 for 59 ML.
Wonderful review Ramon.. I am not the biggest fan of Glow Recipe as the price point has always been a little more than I personally want to pay and the packaging look is just not to me ... That being said this does look like a very well considered formulation and I loved how it looked on your skin :) love you xxxxx
i’ve been using black girl sunscreen recently bc i’ve been lazy w skincare recently and it’s heavy enough to not have to put anything on under it, but now i’m suuuuuper interested in trying this one👀 my preference is layering a lighter weight sunscreen on top of another moisturizer bc it just feels better on my face so i’m gonna have to see if i can talk myself into the price haha
If you want a sunscreen that isn’t heavy, try the Hawaiian Tropics sunscreen spray, spf 50. It goes on COMPLETELY invisible (I don’t know how they do it) and feels like you don’t even have it on! The regular sunscreen is also decent too. Highly recommend.
I am not going to lie to you, I bought this sunscreen and was VERY disappointed. I read the packaging to find best application and could not find this info. HOWEVER, your review was so thorough..detailed.. and supportive. I am going to try some of your recommendations because I love the glow it gives! FYI, I tried using it the the CeraVe daily moisture from lotion (minimal amount) and it pilled on me. I also noticed I need to blend it in quickly.. I think in a way it will set down, which can cause the pilling. Makes sense as to why patting it on may be better!
I wish there was more UVA protection, speaking to other folks, this one will come out around PA++ but I wanna see PA++++! This is giving me Papa Recipe vibes!! Thank you for the review, I’m excited to try it out!

PA++?! Can you elaborate on that? Considering it’s SPF 50 (I was confirmed w the brand the product surpassed SPF 50), and the fact that it received broad spectrum specifications, and the zinc + octocrylene combo, I’m confident this tested at PA++++.
@ But this isn't a EU sunscreen so the fact that it's SPF 50 (UVA rating as 1/3 of the SPF is solely a regulatory rule and you can reach SPF 50 with no UVA protection depending on the filters you use) and broad spectrum (which quite literally only means that the UVA protection present in this formulation passes the bare minimum critical wavelength but doesn't tell you anything about how strong the UVA protection is) has no bearing on the PA rating. It's extremely irresponsible to say you're confident that something is PA++++ especially when these tests haven't been run and this info has not been supplied from the brand. There is only 12% Zinc Oxide in this and octocrylene provides such low UVA protection at short wavelengths that it's barely even worth mentioning. While we've seen some 13% Zinc Oxide SPFs that are rated at PA++++, those are extremely rare and utilize a lot of novel and extremely expensive encapsulation processes. Most Zinc Oxide only PA++++ SPFs usually contain 20-25% Zinc Oxide. We don't know what kind of Zinc Oxide is in this formula and we also don't know how that Zinc Oxide is treated, so it's a little weird to see you make claims about how confident you are that this SPF is PA++++ because it quite potentially could be PA++. It's probably at the low end of PA+++ but again, it's impossible to be "confident" about anything until we actually see how it tests.
@@Zzzaac Exactly!! Finally a voice of reason. I cannot believe anyone would push this product and claim to know it produces results when this hasn't been tested or scientifically proven. I'm very worried and I don't think I will be choosing or ever using this product in the future.
I wonder if they'll create a second sunscreen for the EU market... The homosalate level is going to be too high to sell in the EU if regulations are updated to align with the latest SCCS opinion 😬
Appreciate your review!!! 😊 My favorite sunscreen is Black Girl Sunscreen the Make it Matte one. Despite saying matte it leaves a beautiful natural glow and dries down somehow without drying the skin, no white cast, is a gel, non greasy. I am thinking of reviewing Tatcha's new one, but dang $60 is insane...
@@faisasaid6996 agreed. Most of my favorite SPFs are 30 which I don't understand as the face is most susceptible to burning besides my shoulders. I wouldn’t say a lot. Some people find it irritating. Same can go for a lot of ingredients. A small percentage of people find things like vitamin C and hyaluronic acid irritating, but they’re still great ingredients
I’ve been anticipating this review from u ever since I got the new product teased in my email 👀 oily skin AND brown skin friendly?!? really really excited to get this once I use up my current sunscreen
It seems like hybrid sunscreens will be the thing this year for companies to drop. Will you be reviewing the new product from Naturium the multi-bright tranexamic treatment? I need to know if it is worth getting, which I have a feeling that it will be 😊.
I am using Guava vitamin C Serum from a month. I have seen brightening effect no stinging although I have very sensitive acne prone skin but it did not break me out. I like it will repurchase. The best thing is very light weight and very hydrating.
It looks like a really nice sunscreen, but the size of that bottle is not big enough for me 😭 if I wasn't a broke college student it would maybe be a different situation. I just tend to prefer bigger bottles so I don't ration my sunscreen usage. If I was in a higher tax bracket maybe I would consider it 😭🤷♀️ The formulation looks really nice though! Feels like it would be really nice for a makeup prep step for those that wear makeup.
I found this brand called plntglow in which they create pigments that you mix with your sunscreen (especially those with extreme white cast). I think that’s such a fascinating idea and want to know your thoughts on it!
Hmmm I did the maths, applying 1/4 of a teaspoon you'll give you roughly 34 applications... that is just over a month use from one bottle. With the cost of living going up I can't be spending $34 almost every month on sunscreen. I'm sure it's a lovely sunscreen, but there are other lovely ones at much lower price.
I am excited to try this one!!! The only skincare scent I like is their body lotion, so this fragrance sounds like my thing. I am impressed with the way it looks on the skin considering Zinc Oxide. Thank you for the review!
Excellent review! TFS! I recently received samples of this from Sephora and loved it. Full bottle on the way. I have oily skin and, so far, haven’t experienced any pilling when I apply this sunscreen after my moisturizer (Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion). I’m also shade 430 in the Fenty powder foundation and this doesn’t leave a cast on my skin either.
my fav sunscreen is the shisheido anessa perfect uv skincare milk, so i can't talk about going for affordable sunscreens, but the fact it's so expensive for a product you have to use every day and possibly reapply is :/ . gr8 video!
Maybe I missed it, but since this has zinc in it, how is reapplication? I know a lot of times, reapplying mineral sunscreens just starts making them look and feel terrible.

I have warmed up to more expensive brands! Fundamentally I want to prioritize affordable and accessible brands because that’s most important to me. But I was just getting a lot of questions about mid tier and high tier brands, and trying and reviewing those opens up doors for things like more innovation and tech, or just different user experience. I’ve dabbled more into higher end for over a year now. I also used to work at Sephora, so my intro to skincare after K beauty was Sephora brands. It just got to the point where affordability was so subjective that people were upset at things costing even up to $10, while others were like ‘I can afford this so that’s affordable to me’ and I was in that same boat as well. Primarily, I do like to stick to affordable sunscreens, but at the end of the day, people will use what they’re going to like to use. The supergoop point is interesting, and definitely tea. My philosophy on that primarily is A) I really don’t like their education around sunscreen. B) I don’t like their pricing on sunscreen. And it’s kind of like a combination of those factors and their marketing that still puts me off of supergoop, but that’s strictly a personal thing. How they explain sunscreen and want clients to use sunscreen I think can lean towards being misinformation and potentially dangerous.
