Many thanks for the mention of my book "ANNIVERSARY STRAT: Celebrating 40 Years of the Fender Commemorative Model Stratocaster.' Well done for the video and sharing your Anniversary Models with the world.
Good video. They also have I think production anniversary strats from 94, 04, and 14. Only reason i know is because my buddy bought a new 94 strat when it came out, it has a 40 yr metal plate on the headstock that is permanently attached. I have an 04 strat, the neck plate is stamped 50th anniversary. Otherwise, these were just regular strats with no special pickups or hardware. I do remember the 79 anniversary model when it came out, I always thought it was ugly. Not so much in retrospect, never did know about the 35th anniversary model.
Hi Mike, thx for the comment. There is a big misunderstanding about the Strats made in an anniversary year that have an anniversary sticker or badge. All American Standard Strats from 94 have the badge on the headstock. And alle American Standard Strats from 04 and 14 have a special neck plate. But they are just American Standard Strats, so don't pay a premium!!!
The 1994 “40 years & still rockin” Strat was the best guitar I’ve ever owned! Everything was just perfect! Sold it & have regretted ever since. I hope to get another one day. Good vid!
All good information but you left out the 2014 60th Anniversary Strat in Olympic White which I actually have. And the current 70th Anniversary Strats which is kind of a medley of different Strats including a very reasonably priced 1954 period correct reissue Strat. There are several different Strats in this group, all of which are really nice and have different specs. Your video was great 🎸. More Strat info please 🙏. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵🩵
Thanks for your comment. Do you have more info on your Anniversary Strat? Because I cannot fin anything about it in the book: Anniversary Strat by Gary Davies. I think all American Standard Strats from 2014 were fitted with a commemorative neck plate. This does not make them a Anniversary Strat!
Besides the USA-made 60th Anniversary Commemorative Strat with gold hardware shown in the video the Corona factory built the 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Strat in 2-tone Sunburst which was an exact replica of the original 1954 and was limited to 1,954 guitars (it was a lot more expensive than the Commemorative version). These 2 Strats were the official USA factory-built Anniversary Models from 2014. Besides those the Fender Custom Shop built quite a few 60th Anniversary Strat variants in 2014, including Heavy Relic and NOS versions and later in the year custom colours were made available as an alternative to the 2-tone Sunburst guitars. Fender Showcase dealers were also able to order Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Strats in different colours. All the details are in my ANNIVERSARY STRAT book.
I bought this anniversary strat in 1994, So basically I have invested my money in a crap piece of kit with 40 year old rubbish Fender needed rid of, with weak pickups I should have purchased a modern one?
