    Brand new to salmon and steelhead fishing, besides addicted fishing you may be the best as you always start from the beginning with the mainline and show clearly step by step, you make think there’s hundreds on here but there isn’t and the ones that are don’t compare to your clear instructions, so thanks and appreciate your videos.

      Thank you so much. I absolutely love reading comments like this. I try to explain it in a way that’s the same way that I’d explain it to myself. I want/need clear detail so I can actually understand. glad I could help. Good Luck 🎣

      Start at the head of the run cast close, middle, far.. take 3 steps down river repeat casting close, middle, far.. repeat process until you reach the tail out of the run..

    Why don’t you use the same type of bobber stop above and below the float?

    Oregon has a leader length reg? Washington was thinking about this but never implemented it but I never saw the advantage of running a leader longer than 4 ft myself. The shorter leader I can get away with the more leaders I can tie per spool. Plus if you lose really long leaders it creates a snag in the hole that just collects gear.

    Good info. Is there an advantage to having swivels on your inline weight? The Palomar knot instruction is on the inside of the PowerPro box.

    did i miss if you say you use a leader for the bobber as well? braided line - bobber leader - hook leader.

    Can you fish this set up with a bead in place of the jig?

    Nick, when it comes to float fishing, how do you deal with surface current? (surface current pulling your presentation faster than the bottom current)
    It's very easy to hold back the float when casting near, but casting out to a seam 40+ ft in front of you and trying to hold back the float is impossible until your float is 45 degrees downstream. Even then, if you try to slow it down you will pull it towards shore and away from the seam.
    I have not figured out anyway of doing this so I tried very thin floats that as affected by the top current. that kinda works but they are hard to see in choppy water.
    I know you like to fish with a spinner mostly, I like spoons, and I gave up trying to cast a float rig farther than 30ft and switch to non float techniques or bobberdog it.

    I usually go between jigs during the day, but I gravitate towards nightmare and something with a lot of white.

    Great video, I have a question. Since you have a jig head on the end why would you add the inline or egg sinker? Is it to get it down faster? I would use that set up when I use power bait or something that would make my hook float up off the bottom.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  Год назад

      Thanks, the egg sinker is just for better casting and for getting your gear down faster. It’s definitely not necessary for shallow water but it helps a lot when fishing deeper, faster moving water

    Would the weight of the jig not make the bobber sink?

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  2 года назад +2

      I wouldn’t go any heavier than what I did, but no, it won’t make the bobber sink. It may sit a tiny bit lower in the water, but you kind of have to figure out what bobbers you like best… some may say 1/2oz but with a half ounce loaded up on it, the bobber is still actually floating kinda high. In the end, there is a bit of room to play with when it comes to the whole setup
