This is an original? It's awesome, it gives you the feeling that you are at the end and are ready to finish your quest once and for all. A very nice final boss theme.
Aw Lauren! Thank you, glad to see you still around here! I hope you've been doing okay! I'm still holding back on releasing the soundtrack to Second Legacy, as I feel I can still improve it, but when it comes out, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as this one!
SEGA. You did a Sega track. As a dual Sega/Nintendo kid at heart, I'm so delighted by this. I'm also super glad to see other people thanking you and loving your music as much as I do (so I'm not the only screamingly obsessed fan, haha). I mean, you already know I'm going to like it, but I *do* like it. You make some of the most consistently awesome music of anyone I follow. This is no exception.
Thank you so much Lauren ! :) This is very motivating you know, as it's the first time that I really attempt to write 16-bits SEGA style music seriously. If you liked this one, huhu you better brace yourself, because a few more will be available for listen as soon as my indie shmup demo is ready. Title screen music, stage 1, boss, all clear, ... the usual stuff. That and later I'll arrange it in rock fashion of course !
This is flippin' awesome Christophe! you seriously need to start making music for video games! Very cool to read you followed constraints similar to that of 16-bit hardware, I've always believed that's what helped push so much creativity and fantastic melodies back then. Brilliant stuff mate :)
Thanks man ! I wish I could do this stuff all the time, but it just does not pay the bills right now. Fortunately I still have a bit of time left to do things like this beside my usual rock arrangements of VGM.
I sincerely hope it goes well for you and some devs take notice because you have a hell of a lot of talent. Fingers crossed that you get to do what you love in life full time :)
Thanks for your support ! I sure know it does not help either that I can't afford to actively search for game developers who'd need me these days. But I'll keep at it nevertheless !
Always excited to see more CH music, and originals at that. Getting introduced to you through Extra Credits years ago exposed me to the world of VGM covers with the likes of Insaneintherain, Richaadeb, Super Guitar bros and others. Love your work
breaking news: CarboHydroMusic had been secretly uploading the soundtrack for the new shovel knight game!!! 100% True!!! No seriously though this really sounds like it could be in something like Shovel Knight. Good job on this one Christophe!
Haha thanks ! This is part of the soundtrack I've been writing for the spiritual sequel to Prime Legacy, dubbed Second Legacy, a shmup of course. When the demo is released I'll also release the songs as an EP.
I hope it would ! And either way, I plan to do one later. It's part of the soundtrack I'm preparing for my indie game project (Second Legacy), and I want to leave players the option of choosing the soundtrack style as an extra - although right now the soundtrack itself is minimal, and covering the extent of a single demo stage.
If it means anything, it made me look up the first five justice ray songs, only to discover they were scattered throughout different games for some reason.
Exactly. I've added that information just now to the video description for people who are curious. I was first exposed to part 2 by listening to TFV's soundtrack, and then wondered why it was called "part 2". That lead me to part 1 and 3. I learnt a few years later that part 4 and 5 also existed, and that some fans had tracked them down. I've already arranged parts 2 and 3 in a medley called "Far Beyond Heavens". But someday I might arrange the other parts or do the five all together.
Yeah it did cross my mind. That would have been indeed an even better tribute to Tsukumo-san. But this here is the primary style of the soundtrack I'm preparing for my Second Legacy project, and this song will be a part of it.
True, you've been around for quite some time :) Well if you go to my bandcamp page (link in the video description) or look my artist name up on iTunes/Amazon etc..., you can buy one of the albums I was able to release there. On Bandcamp it's on a pay what you want basis. Thanks for the encouragements too !
Yes I do. I've been working on an album that will feature 4 versions of this song (NES pulse, Genesis FM, metal, and orchestral). To this day I have yet to do the metal versions for all the songs on the album.
Dear Hyakutaro Tsukumo, I'm hereby claiming The Justice Ray Part 6. Sort of.
This is an original? It's awesome, it gives you the feeling that you are at the end and are ready to finish your quest once and for all. A very nice final boss theme.
Yes it's original. Thanks a lot ! :)
ho wow, i remember when we talked about this, didn't except you to really do it! You're awesome! Will you do a metal cover of it?
Yes I've always been serious about doing this - and a metal cover is planned too yes :)
ALWAYS.
Over four years later and this track is still awesome and your music is still awesome.
Aw Lauren! Thank you, glad to see you still around here! I hope you've been doing okay!

Was upset there was a dislike... Then realised I'd pressed it by accident in my pocket. Sorted now. ❤️
Haha thanks a lot ! :D
I hope you never stop dude. Your music never fails to motivate me.
Well that's the sort of thing that keeps me going ! And you keep up the good work too !
Fantastic
Thanks !
adding to my workout playlist
Wow that's nice!!!
Thanks !!

Oh they are big names now ! Glad to see that you enjoyed what you found and are still here today :)
Like a fusion of sonic 3 and geometry dash. God this is amazing
Thanks !
Yo I'm the 69th comment...nice!
@@Entrominal Ha GG!
This song is amazing ....
Thanks

That sounds cool! I hope to hear more about Second Legacy in the future.
I think you will :)
If this music was on a game on 90's for sure now it would have metal covers today.
I hope it would ! And either way, I plan to do one later. Sonic the Gunstar Hero
Is what I think of this... Awesome!
Haha nice way to put it ! Thanks a lot for listening !
That's gotta be hands down the coolest made-up name for a game I've ever heard
I am like number 100. I dig the Sega bass line so much !!!! :)
Thank you sir ! Yeah I love it too, the whole Second Legacy soundtrack I've been working on will rely on that sound :)
Cant wait to hear that whole Soundtrack
Always amazing each time I hear it.
Hey good to see you again! Thanks a lot for dropping by and your kind message!

Goddamn, this is such a good track. It sounds like something from a Sega Genesis game.
Thanks ! That was my goal, I mostly abided by the constraints of the Genesis sound chip to write this, hence the result :)
CarboHydroMusic Well, mission accomplished. You should make more of these. You have amazing talent!
Thank you so much. I will definitely release more of those, when the soundtrack to Second Legacy, that I've been developing, is ready !
Amazing as always
And you're always there to listen to my stuff ! Thanks a lot man !
now that's the good stuff
Glad that you enjoyed it, thanks !
This feels like if Castlevania had a love-child with High Seas Havoc. And I'm okay with that. :)
Oh man that would rock ! Thanks Ali ! :)
This is so good, you really manage to impress!
It's especially great for me because I have recently become very fond of FM VGM
Thanks ! I'm glad that you enjoyed it on that level ! I've become very fond of FM synthesis in VGM over time too :)
Divine~ wonder if there's gonna be a guitar cover
Sorry for the late reply! Yeah there will be one - or perhaps even two actually!
Has the thought crossed your mind of doing a "mid-fi" kinda version using the kinds of sounds from Thunder Force V, Broken Thunder and Blast Wind?
Yeah it did cross my mind. That would have been indeed an even better tribute to Tsukumo-san. But this here is the primary style of the soundtrack I'm preparing for my Second Legacy project, and this song will be a part of it.
Very nice! Love it! Which song in Naval Ops Commander was the Justice Ray?
I had to look it up again, but part 4 is the Wirbelwind theme. Also thanks !
this is fantastic, did you ever make the metal version?
Peak Konami-like! (I'd say Gradius II?)
Thanks! It's true, the rhythm of this song being what it is, Gradius 2 was a big inspiration especially for bass lines.
Hey sir have been following you for years and would love to be able to give you money in someway anyways keep up the great work
