This is my take on the famous moon theme, taken from Disney's Duck Tales NES game, and originally composed by Hiroshige Tonomura for Capcom.
All instruments are played and recorded by me, except the drums that I programmed and rendered with Natural Studio Kit 7 and other free SF2 soundfonts; and the synths that are also programmed and rendered using a VST plugin called A1.
This theme in the original game is very short, so I figured I should add some new parts fitting the chord progression, and sticking to the overall idea of the arrangement.
This is a re-upload. The former video ( • Video ) sounds broken for some configurations. I will take it offline in a few months.

Over a year since i last heard this song (I left on a mission for my chuch which involves no internet) and I still have the same awesome mental image I had back then. This is probably one of the most epic, motivational, optimistic songs ever. Subscribed.

Well, that's this for me. The original is a gorgeous piece of music by itself, and this just brings out all of that wonder and the feeling of triumph and impending adventure to its absolute max and I adore it.

Thanks a lot man ! :) It's one of the best themes ever made for a video game after all. It's one of those arrangements I made very early because of that, and I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have waited for my production capabilities to get better before tackling it.
@@CarboHydroMusic I downloaded this from your website so damn long ago now (the one with the link o the past background), I think I was 16 years old and now I'm 30. This arrangement inspired me to play guitar so much and has been a staple in my playlist for so many years now so I'm really happy you released it when you did.

Ah I'm so fond of that era when it comes to animes :)
I close my eyes while listening to this and see spaceships, skirting the surface of and asteroid, weaving their way in and out between the giant boulders. Lasers fire and the rocls split apart. The camera zooms out to reveal the fighters were clearing a path for a giant colony ship, which then moves though the asteroid belt, free to explore a new section of the galaxy.
Sorry, I get a bit over descriptive sometimes. XD great song! Definitely inspires a feeling of unknown adventures and places just waiting to be explored. Bravo!

Coming back to listen to this arrangement after so many years in my memory. The best arrangement of the theme ever. Favorite part is the new melody at 1:33, and how you hear it combined with the main melody at 1:54 (along with the lovely tritone substitution right after). All of it just sounds so awesome and emotional!

I picked it up quite a ways back, I think it was after watching an Extra Credits episode and they linked to your page because of Penguin Cap being the intro music. Sword of Hope is another great tune you've created.

Well it's out here today, and I plan to buy it as soon as I get home from work, but I tell ya what: I'll wait until the 15th to actually play it, just to keep things fair. I'm getting the WiiU version, myself. Only seems right to play a remake of an NES game on the Nintendo platform.
I read a review saying it was a very good remake, so I'm looking forward to playing it.

Here in America a lot of us are SUPER excited about this release, too! I was talking to some friends of mine and they were saying they might actually get the full boxed version instead of the digital just so they can have a DuckTales box to put on their shelf!
Also, I've heard their version of the Moon theme, and it's really good, but I still like this one better! Although it'd probably be much more distracting in actual gameplay...

What's up with the beep at 1:12 ? I finally figured out that it's actually from this song and not the outside world. :P That took longer than one might expect.
Oh good catch ! I think this is called a "ring", and I believe it's caused by the pick on the guitar strings, when the attack is executed at a specific position, which makes some harmonics go wild. I've fixed a lot of these in my songs over the years, but this one goes wayyyy back, and at the time I did not care :D
Oh, interesting! So do you think you'll fix this one? (Not trying to push you to do so, just curious) Also, I was looking at your website earlier and it seems like the version of this song on there is a bit different than this version. Is there a reason for that?
Haha nah, this one is history now :) Also, I fix these things during the mixing on the individual guitar track, and not the mastering/remastering stage with the song as a whole. Touching the EQ there can have quite an impact otherwise.
About the different version of the song on my website, you may be refering to a even older version of it called "The Duck Side Of The Moon" from 2004. This one here in the vid is "Sweet Memories Of Earth", and the version I came up with 2 years later when I was better at my craft :). Both are available on my site, so that I can remember my clumsy beginnings as a musician. :D

In the intro, the first 4 bars, it feels like the guitar riff doesn't match up with the bass and drums. Particularly the fourth measure, and then suddenly it all lines up. It might just be me.
Zangamarth Ah OK ! I think I know what you mean then. Indeed, the first 4 bars have a different time signature than the rest of the song : I programmed these in 15/16 to keep my rendition faithful to the original. That must explain your uneasiness with the tempo, and the fact that the guitar seems to be off just before the tricky transition to the usual 4/4, where everything "lines up" as you say. Back in 2006, I was not aware of such notions, and just came up with this out of feeling only, that was pretty awkward.
Ah, that explains a lot. I forgot that the first bit was in 15/16 of all freaking things. It feels like it'd fit in 4/4, but then, being only -1 16th note, it'd be easy to lengthen one note. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

Decent song but the second buildup was left a bit weak when it came to the pay off. At least in my opinion. It might be personal taste but there was nothing that would make me listen a second time.
