    Great video. Can you share the setting used for the easy cadt 200 on the Photon Ultra? Or point me to a video where that is discussed. Having a hard time finding those settings. I just received my Ultra.

      You really should think seriously about ZBJW. If comparing with other courses, just remember, ZBJW is a lifelong, one-time-fee, continuously updating platform rather than a course. Tomas says it much better than me on a video here ruclips.net/video/n2233xogHk8/видео.html
      Probably the most potent part of membership (think of it as membership, not a course fee) is access to industry leaders. There's nothing quite like having Tomas talk to you live, wherever you are in the world, giving you a critique on something you've done. It's almost annoying how good he is at spotting what you're doing wrong, and it is very annoying that he's always right 🤣😂😁👍👍👍

    I thought your son's ring was very well made, could you make a video about making selecting and mounting gemstones for rings? I am an engineer by trade so I would guess something like mock up the gemstone in cad and model the ring around it, but how would you fold the retaining tabs down without weakening the metal or tarnishing it with a flame?

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад

      I'll be honest, I know nothing about stone fitting and I suspect it's too fiddly for me. However, I believe some stones can be cast in place... that I might be able to look into 😁

  • @BrakhianSoldier

    It would be nice if the designer would consider the placement of the sprues - especially the main back sprue - in such a way that cutting and polishing the spot would not just leave a shinny and fading place in that wonderful, intricate model.

    This was awesome. I was going to have a try at using melted down aluminium cans and using greensand to make a mould from my 3D print but this looks a bit easier. Quick question, how do you determine how much metal to use ? do you calculate the volume of the mould, or just pour it in until it starts coming out ? Thanks.

      I know... I resisted Instagram for years. Now I'm enjoying it. I use it to see things I like, such as 3D printing, jewellery design, art work, miniature painting... the trick is to only follow the stuff you enjoy, otherwise you get bogged down with junk. But in essence it's what I've said before... it's close, but for detail the Ultra wins. 😁

  • @GVDRAGONFISTS
    @GVDRAGONFISTS 2 года назад +2

    another amazing video really enjoyed this one.
    I have a question what is the best casting resin you have used in your opinion for the best detail in the casting???

  • @sigmata0
    @sigmata0 2 года назад +2

    Interesting process. I wonder if you could print the channels you use to allow the metal to flow into the mould when casting. It seems you added supports to the 3D print, then removed them only to add casting channels back in. Wouldn't adding the channels actually allow you to reduce the number of supports you need to use in the first place?

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +3

      You certainly can include and print sprues in the design process (or tack them on before printing) and you often see me do this. I even did a quick video the other day showing folks how to use slicer software to achieve this result. ruclips.net/video/ZR6Bw_zIK1s/видео.html
      It's purely a personal choice. Wax is generally cheaper than resin and easy enough to add on... 😁😁😁

  • @ianbar20

    Awesome! I've been attempting ring prints on my mars 3 and have an issue with loss of detail near supports where the model faces the build plate... In this case it'd be the back of your ring. I see you didn't lose much detail, is this an advantage of DLP or am I doing something wrong?

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +1

      No, DLP shouldn't really make a difference there. The Mars 3 is a very capable printer and I printed this same skull ring on it. It could be your positioning of the model, or even the supports. Have you watched this video? It may help ruclips.net/video/MU0Cq_bjhy4/видео.html

      I guess it depends on the jewellery you're designing. Arguably pretty much any resin printer should be okay. The left is better. I was thinking that's the ultra. But it's the 6k. It takes 6k to beat a 1st gen DLP. Even the 4k doesn't match. And there's already a 2k DLP in the works... This solidifies the DLP for me. It's just too much of a new technology and the disparity is too great. Reminds me of gasoline and electric cars.

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +1

      Trust me, it's a close thing, but the Ultra is better on the detail. However the Mono X 6K has a plate that's probably 4 times bigger, so it wins there 😁

They take a massive risk letting some nobody with a RUclips channel like me have access to their art. It would be easy for me to rip these people off.
