I think it was super smart to wait a few extra days before posting your review instead of rushing out a review (like mine 😬). It's also missing a Climber feature and Strava segments. Those COROS devs have a lot of work to do. Thanks for making this video! Excellent as always!

Your review was excellent Matt as well. The Dura has a lot of potential and I have no doubt it will be a win eventually after they address some of these issues. Particularly the Varia radar problems. For now, we will wait to see their updates :)

Solid overview Tariq. Coros have put themselves (and a few reviewers) under.a LOT of pressure by saying things will be fixed when the unit launches. When the DURA failed to alert for an approaching vehicle, I was tempted to throw it straight in the bin. Sending out devices in a very unfinished state is one thing (and one thing they only really reminded me of when I was feeding back to them it wasn't working/ready), but being out there in traffic testing a unit that won't alert when there is a connected radar device - straight up irresponsible. They've used the media as their testing pool... which a lot of companies do. There's just something that doesn't feel right about how Coros have gone about it. It has been a messy release.

    Tariq,
Firstly, I always appreciate your presentation style and perspective! Sometimes other reviews have a lot of data, but don't give me a real sense of what it's like to use (e.g., scroll wheel, what 74k Lux really means, etc.).
On battery life + solar, I am hoping that Coros will use this advantage to deliver significantly improved battery health / lifespan. Users who mostly do daylight rides could choose default battery charge thresholds that stop charging the battery at 60%. This is similar to how charging threshold works now on many laptop PCs. The solar source could make discharge depth quite small, further extending battery lifespan. Last year I had to throw away a 3yr-old bike computer that was otherwise in excellent condition, except that its battery was worn out and non-replaceable 😞

If solar charging was implemented correctly, it should not affect battery health. Solar charging provides slower, charging speed, more gradual charge compared to wall chargers and can help extend the intervals between conventional charging cycles. It remains to be seen how this will impact the Dura’s battery health. Glad you enjoyed my review and thank for watching 🙏🏼

@@SmartBikeTrainersGood point about inherently slower charge rates of solar - I try to charge using USB 2.0 ports (2.5W).
Regardless of charge rate/source, keeping Li-ion battery full all the time really hurts health/longevity. I hope the Dura design will enable charge level limits to preserve battery health, just like many laptops/cars/smartphones.
