The box itself is insane, like "Lord have mercy, I'm bout to bust" insane
It is a beautiful figure. Just a headache to put together
The box is awesome! It's worth the $60 alone.
@@jeffdeiderich2901 They have it on Aliexpress for $40 so even cheaper lol
Mac wants the flamethrower!
I have that one but couldn't find it for the video smh
It looks cool sure, but 60 bucks? Neca be tripping, those are basically two big accessories.
I'm in the same boat. I think its cool but not $60 cool lol. Definitely a accessory set lol
I think they should have given the dog articulation points, 60 fucking bucks and I can’t even fat a standing dog?
@@Easternboy30 it has amazing arm moving capability lol its the little stubs that move that count as articulation lol. Also every ball point for the tentacles are considered articulation points. Looks great but very annoying to put together and keep together.
60 bucks is fair to me, you can give the creature different looks with showing the transformation of the dog but I can understand if you don't agree.
Its all an opinion. Its a nice figure but for $60 I shouldnt of had all the problem that I did with it. The only reason $60 is high to me is because you can get MacReady with the flame thrower and plenty accessories for $30. Again it is all opinion based. Thanks for the comment
I was around 8 or 9 years old when I first saw the original THING. That dog scene haunted me for months. I had to sleep with lights on for a long time. Until this day , that scene still one of the goriest for the sci-fi horror movies.
Lol best figure to have just sitting on your shelf at home lol
On God. Saw it about a month ago blindly and it was awesome. Great horror movie
Omg same it was the humans for me I legit got mortified I ran crying to my mom 😂😂😂😂 I look back on that and laugh now
This makes me sad that Neca does not have the Resident Evil license
Man that would be amazing if they got the resident evil line. I think they would knock it out the park.
Looks amazing, one of the best figure set from Neca. But the price is a little higher, $40 will be perfect
It is a very detailed figure though I have to stay. Part of me becomes ok with the price until I try putting it together or moving it lol.
I’ll pass on this man that thing is creepy af 😂,MacReady figs are good enough for me
It is a really creepy toy lol the price is the thing for me and I do love the Macready figures. This one was annoying to put together lol.
*It's a great figure. I got mine!*
*No complaints, but yes....in the end they aren't that big to be in such a large box. Quite small actually, exception those arm claws. I TRULY wish they created the larger scale Thing creature, & as it's shown in mega form at end of the movie. Fingers crossed that will still happen. And $60, for accessory type scale pieces? Hm. If they included something more major, such as a larger scale Thing creature then it would be more bang for our buck! Hopefully in the near future, or even other members of the gang like Childs, Windows, etc.🙏🙀🤞*
That would be real nice for them to make one like that and have the Spider Head. This is a great figure when put together/ stays together. I think it should of been around $40-50 for this one. Pretty crazy figure though and very detailed so I understand kinda.
Thanks for the review! Was on the fence but definitely getting now. It’s essentially two figures so I’think it’s worth it. Been waiting decades for Thing figures. Please come out with more monsters from the film!
Yes 2 figures with be able to change the designs for them also. Both dogs have like 3-4 different ways to have them look. That is really nice, only issue is how hard it is to put this altogether and keep it like that lol.
The Amazon driver just left. My dog creature is here. It's awesome! Definitely worth the $60.
Nice
All pre ordered! Can’t wait to get my hands on this! 🤘❤️
Great figure, I suggest you heat it up. Also on the end of the tentacles ball joints, break the paint. When you stick it in everytime when I tried turning the ball joint in a different direction it would pop out. Make sure they move before putting them in and I think that will kill a lot of the stress lol.
@@TheCollectionDimension oh dear, one of them ones. Cheers mate for the advice.
@@TheCollectionDimension finally got my hands on it. So pleased.
I just picked this up and it is awesome, Neca is killing it with their figures imho.
Yes I think neca has been knocking it out the park with the action figures lately.
That's amazing, what a cool set!
Love the figure just hell to put together. I love the detail in them.
Looks so real
Yes I love the look of it. The gloss really brings it that gross feeling lol.
that has to be the coolest box art i've ever seen
I love the look of the box, and those are my colors I love lol.
Man these look awesome but i always felt horrible for those poor dogs in the movie. so everytime i look at them i well get strong feels 😢😢😢
I know what you mean lol the gloss really give it that gross effect lol but I actually love that look. Felt real bad for the dogs... more than the humans lol
Imagine these 2 pieces simply laying on a small bed of straw with some red gloss splashed in puddles beneath...
Really nice.
I can't wait to make a diorama for this one. That is the look I'm going for from the movie and I will do the puddle of blood in resin so it has that shine.
Mine arrived today! Dog not too bad. The creature,,,that;s still on the table in pieces. 😆😆
Ive heard that from a lot of people lmao I talked to one person that broke 3 of the ball joints trying to get them in. It was very hard and I would of broke some if I didnt heat it up.
@@TheCollectionDimension So figured it out. The hair dryer method worked a treat. Without heating you got no chance. Looks bloody great though. Job done. Thanks for your help mate,
Awesome Review 😎I'm a Huge Fan of The Thing even Though it Scared the Heck out of Me when I saw it at The Movies when I was a Kid😂
Same thing here but I also think thats the reason I like it so much lol I love all the movies that scared the crap outta me lol
Great unboxing, I just subscribed 💪🤓
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate every one.
Damn that is a ton of accessories. That is a really nice set.
Really nice set, just really frustrating to put/keep together lol
The dog creature is my favourite monster design in the movie, looks the creepiest to me.
Yes but for me it was a tie between the dog and the Spider Head. Loved both of those and cant wait until they make it a figure.
I've been looking for this
People have been finding them at Targets. We have like 4 more left on our website if you are interested and it would ship out Monday.
Very nice, looking forward getting them to my collection 👍
Man was it a hard one to put together. If you are taking it out the box get ready for some frustration lol I would suggest to break the paint in the ball joints in order to put it together and warm up the figure in warm water
@@TheCollectionDimension oh check out my collection, see what you think 👍,oh and thanks for the advice,I appreciate it 👍🙏
@@paulicke3483 nice collection. I loved the Halloween Set up.
Ordered mine from a UK supplier. Should be here in the next few days.
We always pay a premium in the UK due to the import tax.
I will be building my own custom diorama for it 👍
That sounds cool. I really want to build a diorama when I have the time. Going to buy the old mcfarlane ones for it also.
Really enjoyed the review. I have all 3 Macready's so I definitely want to pick this one up. Obviously I don't like $60 but it seems neca hardly ever go on discount so it's a pill ill swallow. I plan to have the dog displayed regularly like at the beginning of the film. Im disappointed to hear the big mutation was a pain in the butt to get together, but honestly im not surprised. I wish they had included the one guys head/spider Thing, just to help a little more on that cost. And finally, they better not end this line without making a Childs. Thats the only other character I think is an absolute must!
I think there is quite a bit they can do with the line still but will they is the question. Loved this figure just hated putting it together. The look of it is amazing to me. They have this figure on Aliexpress for $40 shipped and those have been spot on in comparison. I also have the 3 Macreadys an it would be great if they added some more characters. Fingers crossed its not another Macready lol.
Was able to get this thing for 50$ with my target employee discount and target circle honestly worth it.
Nice, $40 to 50 is where I would out this figure at imo but I have to say it is amazing once you get it together/ stays together. Very detailed also so makes me understand the price more.
Preorder in June, hope comes in December or late November., I made a diorama with the kennel and MacReady shooting it. 6 months waiting for.
That sounds cool as hell. I want to build a diorama after I got this figure. Him and MacReady are perfect for a diorama. Good choice and perfect figures for it. Just frustrating putting it together.
Cool. I'm waiting for NECA to do the Spider head Thing.
I want them to do the spider head so bad. I also am planning on 3d Printing a life size Spiderhead. I want to get the one that came out but pretty expensive.
I just put these two together last night. I love how they look, but they are not designed to be played with in any way. As you said, they were difficult to put together and the pieces fall out if you look at them funny. The instructions were ass as well. I'm both amazed and disappointed by this set at the same time.
I know exactly how you feel lol I love the look of it, Amazing!!! but man the articulation, Manual, and keeping it together was a fail. Every time I tried to pose it a piece fell out and I had to breathe lol.
In a way I'm glad to see that you thought the assembly was long and difficult, and the instructions are lacking. I think the sculpt details and paintjob are great, but NECA did a poor job on joint construction. This seemed more like model building for me from back in the day, not an unboxing for a figure for my collection. Surprising for this toy maker.
I wanted to show me putting it together. I was recording me assembling it but after recording for 20 minutes and a lot of frustration I turned the camera off lol. It took around another 40 minutes to finish putting it together and even then pieces were falling off. I was not happy at all.
@@TheCollectionDimension I wrote a review of it for WONDER Magazine that will be published soon and noted it looks great, but the poor instructions and bad design, coupled with the pieces not fitting together well, made this a questionable piece, at least for me. I felt like I was a teenager again struggling with a badly made model rather than a toy collector trying to get something on my shelf. Not up to NECA's usual high standards.
NECA should really make other characters from the movie
I would love that so much and I think that it would do good. Every figure that has come out I think they would do great.
Yo, was it worth the price? It look really dope! I appreciate that you got it first and reviewed it. I just need to know if it's worth it before my preorder charges. I'm a bit worried about how difficult you said it was to put together.
I like the figure but I have seen people that have broke some of the pegs on the tentacles. Its difficult to put together but is really a nice looking figure
Just got this set today. I got 5 of the six spider dog legs in on the regular dog thing. The front right of mine won’t go in no matter what. Seems like the hole isn’t deep enough. Either gonna have to use a drill bit or glue it in there. For the more gruesome transformed dog thing the one part that has a ball joint won’t go into the front of the body where it’s supposed to go. I might have to try heating up the hole to see if it can go in because it looks to be a super tight fit. Got the ceiling arms to go in though with their ball joint. Overall it’s a cool set but super frustrating so far. Once I get things put together I ain’t gonna take it all a part ever again.
100% lol I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to record me putting it together but you can imagine how long of a video that would of been lol. I was very annoyed by the end of making this video lol Everytime I tried to change the position some piece fell out and I would have to breath lol
@@TheCollectionDimension I did some heat treatment and got the difficult front tongue mouth’s ball joint to go into the gruesome things’s front. I got most of the holes plugged with some type of tentacle but left two holes unused because it would either cause the figure to become unbalanced, take up more room then it needs to on the shelf or just interfere with another piece. So my advice to anyone is get it the best you can and don’t worry about using every piece. They give you more then you need to cover the figure with. As for the mid transformation/regular dog thing I got the sixth leg to go in kinda with heat as well. But it seems still to be very delicate on that one leg. I’m letting the plastic cool as we speak to see if it sets in but I’m not getting my hopes up. Also the super big bendable tentacles while cool make the figure a bit top heavy and feel out of place idk maybe it’s just me. Also reminds me of twizzlers lol.
Lol I'm on the same page. The long one is cool but everytime I tried to bend it for another look it would pop out smh. I think I need to dremmel out some of the holes to make it fit 100% with no problem.
I just got this preorder in today and I have a question. There’s 3 different MacReady’s last stand, outpost 31, and survival. So which Macready should I get to match up best with the dog seen
Me personally would have it with the Station Survival one with the Torch. They torched the dog but he wasn't holding the torch in the scene. Imo I think the torch being pointed at the creature is a cool look.
@@TheCollectionDimension thanks! I was definitely leaning towards the flamethrower but after I saw the last stand version I thought maybe it’s more accurate . But either way the flamethrower is definitely cooler looking to pose with.
Fingers crossed they come out with some of the other characters also.
I've wanted this since the first teaser pics. Kind of fell of my radar for a while as I'm into far too many toy lines lately. Would look nice next to the McFarlane things. Does it look like it's missing pieces if you don't connect and use all the tentacles I wonder as fiddling with small pieces and accessories is a sure fire way to mar an otherwise awesome figure.
No it has different way to display both of them. That is what is nice about the figure itself. Just hard trying to put all the parts in at the same time. Figure does look amazing though imo
@@TheCollectionDimension Nice 👍 I'll have to get one.
I preordered the 1/6 Mondo figure with the dog and crawling head. I might skip this one unless I see it on sale somewhere.
Man I want to order that so bad lol it looks amazing. I got 2 days to decide lol
How much was shipping from neca? Wondering if is worth it
Shipping from neca is usually like $15-20. I got a case from them and sell them online so I think for a case of 6 the shipping was $35.
My local shop it’s £90 which is like $110 American so $60 isn’t too bad for it
Yea, that is quite the price for a action figure. I love the look of the figure, but thats starting to get pretty high. The again all these action figures are going up in price so its not surprising.
This set was a pain to assemble. For figures like this is heating the parts necessary? It mentions nothing about that in the sparse instructions. Oh, also, great vid it helped!
It helped for me to heat up but was just hard to heat it up lol It doesnt say nothing about heating it up but that was the only way that I was going to be able to fit the pieces.
The creature still freaks the living hell out of me. All it needs to do is learn the ability to spit, and infection rate would be non stop
Lol it is a creepy ass dog lol I plan on making a life size Spider Head.
It’s weird thinking about the price, like I’d pay $30 for either figure, but $60 together seems steep 😂 It’s mad with like marvel legends that are $25 each, but a two pack for $50 pulls me away, just a weird thing going on in my brain! This looks amazing though I need to buy it to go with my 3 Mclacready figures lol
It is an amazing figure to have in the collection especially with owning the 3 macreadys also lol. Was just very very frustrating to deal with putting/keeping together. I think I will do a tutorial on putting it together lol
Marvel legends are mostly reused parts from old figures with zero paint....
Scary as hell
Amazing right lol I want to make a life size one now lol
Are you getting the mondo 1:6 macready ?
Man I want to purchase that to do an unboxing soooo bad lol. Main reason is because of the spider head lol
@@TheCollectionDimension you should do it . Timed edition ends in 4 days . Looks pretty good
I bought it lol I got the Exclusive one. I will be doing the unboxing the moment I receive it.
My fingers hurt trying to get those tentacles in. I can’t get 1 to go in and 2 fall out everytime I move it. I’m a little disappointed in it.
Omg man that was difficult. Everytime I was trying to put them in and change the position 1 would fall out and piss me off lol definitely wasn't happy with that at all.
Where did you get it? I ordered mine from BestBuy and it still isn't ready to pick up.
I ordered directly from Neca.
@TheCollectionDimension I tried to do that, they told me they don't sell them. I guess you have a subscription or sum.
It looks awesome, btw! I think it's worth it.
@@christianrivu yes I get cases from them. I have a shop and online business thats why. I have it on my website now but only 5 left.
Looks great, but heat up the parts? F--k that. I guess Neca hasn't changed one bit from what I've heard.
Hey Hiya, here's your next franchise.
I've seen a few videos of people breaking the peices. Really sucks to deal with but I got lucky not breaking any.
The Thing is in my top 3 horror films
but this figure is just too gross for me to buy/look at lol
all I wan't is a figure of Childs and i'm sure Keith David would be down for it 🤞
Ya that would be real cool and yes this figure does have that gross look but thats actually what I love lol
I'm still angry at the 3, slightly different MaCready figures. Since I own the first release of MaCready, I probably will get this release($60 though 😮). Still disappointed there's no Childs figure 🤨
I'm hoping they aren't done with the franchise and bring out some more from it. I want the spider head so bad lol and ya 3 different Macreadys I feel they could of done someone else.
Don't let a few extra dollars keep you from getting one.
Did you happen to unbox the figure yet?
I actually broke 2 of the pegs on the spider legs. It's definitely a challenge putting this together, but it does really look great. 💪🤓 Check out my unboxing if you have a chance. 🤜🤛
Just watched, liked and commented.
This looks like a messy untidy piece to display. Love the movie but not sure if I want to spend $100 Canadian on this. Rather use that money for a Hot Toy or Inart piece. I’ll stick to my SOTA playset
Ya hard to justify the price to me when you can get a MacReady with the Flame Thrower with all the accessories for $30. This one had too many problems for the price imo. Nice figure though
Tbf you get 2 figures so i dont mind the £60 price tag
I wouldn't mind the price as much if it wasn't so hard to put together. A lot of people have been breaking peices.
@@TheCollectionDimension yeah that part worrys me. ive seen a lot of people struggling to put it together. looks like i gotta find a spot for it in my room and build it there
"Onboxing" video lol
Lol I read that and starting saying it over and over in my head smh I do say that lol you learn a lot of things when people hear you speak lol. Thanks
Oh damn... yup. 60 bucks to justify owning two separate McCreadys? Wwwwworth it.
Just a pain to put together lol. Love the look and you actually can display the 2 dogs like 3-4 different ways so thats really cool.
@TheCollectionDimension Honestly, it's probably the assembly that would deter me more than the price tag xD Thanks for your review, too, by the way.
Really wish you had shown how to assemble it. Instructions are very vague.
Sorry about that, I was going to do a recap video of putting it together. I was recording the process but it literally took me like an hour to do it all and was very frustrating. It would of been an hour video of me cussing and breathing hard lol.
Is very big and complete...i 've take for 70 euro
$60 not bad that's cheap
I think its a little expensive because you paying 30 for MacReady with a flame thrower and plenty accessories for $30-35. I do love the figure even though it was the hardest action figure I ever put together lol. Thanks for watching
@@TheCollectionDimension bro I'm hardcore horror collector and no amount of money ever stops me from purchasing these dope figs
While it looks cool I’m sadly skipping it for now I really want it but my wallet begging me not to do it
I want to buy the Mondo Version of MacReady. It looks amazing and comes with the Dog and the Spider Head... But it cost $260 for it smh kinda a high price lol
@@TheCollectionDimension why so expensive?!!
@@CommanderM820 because it has so many peices i would assume. It is very detailed so im assuming painting it wasn't the easiest.
That's the most horrible idea for a figure I've ever seen. Therefore it's probably fantastic.
Lol it is pretty fantastic lol just horrible keeping it together lol were you a fan of the movie?
@@TheCollectionDimension I love John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy. The Thing and Alien are my favorite Horror movies.
@@bradensmith8682 He is one of my favorite. I am actually going to be able to meet him in March next year I can't wait.
@@TheCollectionDimension he's such a cool guy. His music is great and atmospheric (love the story behind In The Mouth of Madness' OST). I always wonder what the universe where The Thing won awards and recognition when it was released would look like.
Yes this movie did deserve way better then it got. At that Con they will also have the cast from Hellraiser. That will be pretty cool to meet all of them also. Going to be a lot going on at that one because I will have tables also.
Way to expensive and taking up way to much space....
It does take up a lot of space lol I put it on my shelf and had to put the tentacles under other figures legs to get him to fit lol.
Not Into Figures like this Zombie like animals or people for that matter, Neca Does amazing figures but not my cup of Tea. I'm passing This one.
They arent for everyone. I actually like the gory stuff but that because that always seems to be the most detailed lol. I ordered the Mondo MacReady and I cant wait for that to come out. it looks amazing. What figures are you into?
absolutely not worth 60 bucks sorry to say.
it's nice but not better quality than McFarlane toys which sells for 20-30$.
I feel its pretty expensive. I understand you get 2 figures with it but the last stand Macready you get a lot of accessories and him all for $30. I feel they could of added 1 dog each to the figures and charged $40.
